Player Outlook
McClellan is the No. 3 running back for the Falcons, and he has minimal Fantasy value in that role. He's not worth drafting in the majority of leagues. In 2024 as a rookie, McClellan appeared in just two games and finished with 13 carries for 32 yards and no receptions. He's stuck behind Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier, and McClellan would likely need an injury to see significant playing time. If that happens then you can just add McClellan off the waiver wire.

  • Jase McClellan: Let go by Tampa Bay

The Buccaneers waived McClellan on Sunday, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports. McClellan signed with Tampa Bay in mid-August and gained one yard on his only carry during Friday's preseason loss to Buffalo. The Alabama product was a sixth-round selection by Atlanta in the 2024 NFL Draft and played in two contests with the Falcons last season, gaining 32 yards on 13 carries, before ending the year on IR due to a knee injury.

  • Buccaneers' Jase McClellan: Headed to Tampa Bay

The Buccaneers signed McClellan to a contract Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. The 2024 sixth-rounder played in just two regular-season games with the Falcons during his rookie campaign and ended the year on injured reserve due to a knee injury. McClellan was waived by Atlanta in June, but he will get an opportunity to make an NFL roster with the Buccaneers. He'll have a shot at seeing some backup reps out of the backfield due to Rachaad White (groin) being sidelined.

  • Jase McClellan: Let go by Atlanta

The Falcons waived McClellan (knee) on Tuesday, Terrin Waack of the team's official site reports. McClellan managed just two regular-season appearances as a rookie in 2024, gaining 32 yards on 13 carries. While the 2024 sixth-round pick appears recovered from the knee injury that forced him to finish his rookie campaign on IR, he'll now have to search elsewhere for a chance to compete for a depth role. Jashaun Corbin takes McClellan's spot on the Falcons roster.

The rookie appeared in only one other game before Sunday, totaling five carries for 17 yards against Seattle in Week 7. Tyler Allgeier remains the primary backup to Bijan Robinson, leaving McClellan in a mop-up role.

McClellan made his NFL regular-season debut during garbage time of Sunday's blowout loss but failed to leave a lasting impression. • Falcons' Jase McClellan: Could miss Week 5

McClellan (illness) is listed as questionable ahead of Thursday night's game against the Buccaneers. McClellan popped up on the Falcons' injury report Wednesday as a limited participant in practice due to an illness. The rookie running back out of Alabama has been a healthy scratch for all four of Atlanta's games this season, so it wouldn't be a significant loss if he's forced to miss Thursday night's contest because of this illness.

  • Falcons' Jase McClellan: Totals 23 yards

McClellan rushed the ball four times for 12 yards in Friday's 31-0 preseason loss to the Jaguars. He added one reception on one target for 11 yards. McClellan followed Carlos Washington into the game with both Tyler Allgeier and Bijan Robinson resting. He has flashed some ability throughout the preseason, particularly in last week's matchup against the Ravens when he totaled 55 yards on the ground. That appears to be enough to have McClellan fourth on the depth chart, putting him on the roster bubble heading into cutdown day.

  • Falcons' Jase McClellan: Scores late TD

McClellan took 11 carries for 55 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 13-12 preseason loss to the Ravens. Carlos Washington, a 2023 UDFA, worked ahead of McClellan for a second straight week, getting the start and most of the first-half playing time while Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier were held out. McClellan had some nice plays in the second half, including a TD in the final minute, but he was stuffed on a subsequent two-point conversion attempt to take the lead. The rookie sixth-round pick seems to be on the roster bubble, competing with Washington for the third RB spot on a team with the top two backs set in stone.

  • Falcons' Jase McClellan: Garners 43 total yards in opener

McClellan rushed nine times for 30 yards and brought in two of four targets for 13 yards in the Falcons' 20-13 preseason loss to the Dolphins on Friday night. The rookie sixth-round pick was the second running back to garner a touch for the Falcons, with McClellan a beneficiary of the fact both Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier were held out of the exhibition opener. The Alabama product led the Falcons in rushing yardage, although 11 of his yards came on one carry. All iterations of Atlanta's offensive line struggled to open running lanes Friday, however, and McClellan's overall volume seems to indicate head coach Raheem Morris and his staff are willing to give him an ample platform to make a case for a deep reserve running back spot this preseason.
