The 24-year-old from Virginia Tech was sidelined for Washington's final two games last season due to an ankle injury, but his participation in Wednesday's practice suggests he's moved past the issue. Lane had an impressive rookie campaign, catching 16 of 32 targets for 225 yards while accumulating 314 punt-return yards and two touchdowns. Commanders' Jaylin Lane: Done for 2025
The Commanders placed Lane (ankle) on injured reserve Monday.
The rookie fourth-rounder was already unlikely to play against the Cowboys on Christmas Day due to an ankle injury he sustained during Saturday's loss to the Eagles, and his placement on IR means he won't be available for Washington's final two games of the regular season. Lane will finish his first NFL regular season with 16 catches (on 32 targets) for 225 yards across 15 games, though he failed to record a reception in each of the four games following the Commanders' Week 12 bye. His impact was felt more on special teams as a returner, where he turned 23 punt returns into 314 yards and two touchdowns and logged 56 yards on three kickoff returns.

Head coach Dan Quinn told reporters Sunday that "it would be tough" for Lane (ankle) to be available for the Commanders' Christmas Day game against the Cowboys on Thursday, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.

Lane did not record a target during the Commanders' 31-0 loss to the Vikings on Sunday.
Lane didn't log a catch for a second consecutive week, though what's more alarming for the rookie fourth-rounder was that he saw the field for just six of 52 offensive snaps (11.5 percent) during Sunday's blowout loss. With Jayden Daniels aggravating his left elbow injury and Zach Ertz done for the season due to a torn ACL, it's hard to trust Lane or any of other Washington pass catcher outside of Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel heading into this Sunday's NFC East tilt against the Giants.
