  • Buccaneers' Chris Braswell: Solid output in preseason debut

Braswell recorded four tackles (two solo) in the Buccaneers' 29-7 preseason win over the Titans on Saturday night. The 2024 second-round pick has had some eyes on him this summer, as he dropped weight in an effort to gain quickness and it seemed to translate well to the practice field in early camp practices. Braswell carried the momentum over into his first taste of game action, finishing tied for third in tackles on the night for the Buccaneers while playing on 31 snaps (54 percent). Braswell figures in for a rotational role once again in his second season, but if he can continue displaying an improved feel for coach Todd Bowles' scheme, he should be in line for a boost on the 308 defensive snaps he logged across 17 regular-season games as a rookie.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Braswell: Refining game going into Year 2

Braswell has looked quicker in training camp after some offseason weight loss and is also working on several other aspects of his game, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports. Head coach Todd Bowles noted Thursday that Braswell's weight loss was intended to translate to the field in terms of improved quickness, and that strategy seems to have worked. Braswell is "coming off the ball a lot faster" than last season according to Bowles, who also said he sees the 2024 second-round pick starting to let his talent take over due to increased comfort level with the defensive scheme. Braswell spent the offseason working with fellow pass rusher Yaya Diaby, and Brianna Dix of the team's official site reports Braswell has also been focusing on his sharpening his run defense and pass coverage drops.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Braswell: Very quiet rookie season

Braswell recorded 18 tackles (11 solo), including 1.5 sacks, and one forced fumble across 17 regular-season games in 2024. The rookie second-round pick didn't come close to living up to expectations after finishing his college career at Alabama with 75 tackles, including 10.5 sacks, across 41 games. Braswell never topped four tackles in any game while playing 307 snaps in a rotational role, and he didn't record the first full sack of his career until Week 17 against the Panthers. Braswell posted just two total tackles and his fumble recovery from Week 15 through the wild-card loss to the Commanders, so he's heading into the offseason on a particularly sharp downturn.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Braswell: Career-high tackle total in win

Braswell recorded four tackles (all solo) in the Buccaneers' 28-13 win over the Raiders on Sunday. The rookie second-round pick had been a complete nonfactor since Week 6, posting only two solo tackles across 119 snaps over the six games prior to Sunday's interconference clash. However, Braswell reemerged with a new career-high tackle tally across 24 snaps (36 percent) against Las Vegas. Despite the solid showing, Braswell remains far off the IDP radar with only 16 tackles (10 solo), including 0.5 sacks, over his first 13 career games.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Braswell: Past oblique injury

Braswell (oblique) was not listed on Wednesday's injury report. Braswell suffered an oblique injury during the Buccaneers' Week 10 loss to the 49ers. Thanks to the additional rest due to the Week 11 bye, Braswell was able to practice Wednesday without limitations, and barring any setbacks, he should suit up against the Giants on Sunday. The rookie second-round pick has logged 11 tackles (five solo), including 0.5 sacks, through 10 regular-season games.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Braswell: Leaves game with oblique injury

Braswell (oblique) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the 49ers. Braswell suffered an oblique injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game. With the game winding down, it's unclear if Braswell will return to the field even if he would be healthy enough to do so.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Braswell: Records half-sack in win

Braswell supplied three assisted tackles, including 0.5 sacks, and an additional quarterback hit in the Buccaneers' 51-27 win over the Saints on Sunday. The sack of Spencer Rattler that Braswell shared with K.J. Britt served as the first QB takedown the rookie second-round pick has received credit for during his nascent career. Braswell logged 25 snaps overall, keeping him firmly in the rotational role he's been playing since Week 1. Braswell has only two multi-tackle tallies through six games thus far, however, so he still has a ways to go before becoming a reliable IDP option.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Braswell: Pair of QB hits in loss

Braswell delivered one assisted tackle and two quarterback hits in the Buccaneers' 26-7 loss to the Broncos on Sunday. Braswell played on 23 snaps overall (34 percent) and was able to make contact with Bo Nix twice during the lopsided loss. The rookie second-round pick is filling a modest rotational role thus far in his nascent career, topping out at 24 snaps back in Week 1 and recording just three tackles (one solo) across his first three contests.
