  • Chargers' Cam Hart: Looking good for Sunday

Hart (hip) was a full participant at practice Wednesday. Hart was forced to miss Sunday's game versus the Broncos due to a nagging hip issue, but it now seems like he's back to full strength ahead of a Sunday matchup against the Giants. He figures to settle back in as one of the Chargers' top three cornerbacks in Week 4.

  • Chargers' Cam Hart: Unable to suit up Sunday

Hart (hip) is inactive for Sunday's Week 3 battle against the Broncos. Hart was a limited participant in practice throughout the week, but that won't be enough for him to take the field Sunday. Benjamin St-Juste is getting a start at cornerback in Hart's stead.

  • Chargers' Cam Hart: Recovered from shoulder surgery

Hart (shoulder) returned to team drills Wednesday, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports. Hart has recovered from offseason shoulder surgery. He's competing for playing time in a revamped Chargers secondary after starting six of the 14 games in which he appeared during the 2024 regular season.

  • Chargers' Cam Hart: Underwent shoulder surgery

Hart required offseason shoulder surgery and missed most of OTAs and minicamp, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports. Hart was injured in the Chargers' wild-card playoff loss to the Texans in January and needed surgery as a result. Selected in the fifth round out of Notre Dame in the 2024 Draft, Hart made six regular-season starts as a rookie and played 458 defensive snaps across 14 appearances. He finished the regular season with 37 tackles (28 solo), including 0.5 sacks, and seven pass breakups. Over the offseason, the Chargers signed veteran cornerbacks Donte Jackson and Benjamin St-Juste in free agency and also used a seventh-round pick on Trikweze Bridges. Competition for playing time at the position will be fierce during the preseason. It's unclear if Hart will be ready for the start of training camp next week.

  • Chargers' Cam Hart: On the field for OTAs

Hart (shoulder) has been participating in the Chargers' offseason team activities. The cornerback suffered a shoulder injury during Los Angeles' 32-12 wild-card loss to the Texans in January, and he had to exit the game and go to the locker room. Now that he's back, he should be in line for a bigger role in 2025. The 2024 fifth-round pick is projected as a starter this year after only starting seven games, regular season and playoffs, as a rookie.

  • Chargers' Cam Hart: Six starts in rookie season

Hart (shoulder) finished the 2024 regular season with 37 tackles (28 solo), including 0.5 sacks, seven pass defenses and one forced fumble across 14 games. Hart was selected by the Chargers in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 140th overall, three spots after teammate Tarheeb Still. Hart was used mostly on special teams over the first four games of the regular season, but he did start in the six games following the Chargers' Week 5 bye and accumulated 28 tackles (19 solo), including 0.5 sacks, four pass defenses and one forced fumble over that span. Hart and Still could be the Chargers' starting outside cornerbacks for the 2025 campaign if Kristian Fulton opts to take his talents elsewhere in free agency.

  • Chargers' Cam Hart: Exits wild-card game due to injury

Hart (shoulder) is questionable to return to Saturday's wild-card game against the Texans. Hart suffered the injury in the third quarter of Saturday's game and went straight to the locker room, per Daniel Popper of The Athletic. Deane Leonard and Eli Apple are set to play more snaps at outside corner for as long as Hart is sidelined.

  • Chargers' Cam Hart: Won't play Thursday vs. Denver

Hart (concussion) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Broncos. Hart was diagnosed with a concussion during the Chargers' 40-17 loss to the Buccaneers this past Sunday, which prevented him from participating in practice all week. He'll need to clear the league's five-step concussion protocols in order to play in Week 17 against the Patriots on Saturday, Dec. 28. Tarheeb Still is the top candidate to start at outside corner Thursday opposite Kristian Fulton due to Hart's injury.

  • Chargers' Cam Hart: Ready for Sunday

Hart (ankle) has no injury designation ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Chiefs. The rookie corner from Notre Dame was sidelined for the Chargers' last two games after sustaining an ankle injury during the Week 11 win over the Bengals, but he practiced in full Friday, suggesting he's moved past the issue in time to suit up Sunday. With Hart back at full health, he's expected to start opposite Kristian Fulton as part of the Chargers' top outside cornerback duo.

  • Chargers' Cam Hart: Will be absent again Sunday

Hart (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's Week 13 matchup against the Falcons. Hart suffered a concussion Week 11 against the Bengals and missed last Monday's loss to Baltimore. While he's no longer listed as having a concussion, the rookie cornerback aggravated an ankle injury in practice last weekend, per Daniel Popper of The Athletic, and wasn't able to practice at all this week. Tarheeb Still and Kristian Fulton figure to work as Los Angeles' starting cornerbacks versus Atlanta.

  • Chargers' Cam Hart: Upgrades to limited work

Hart (concussion/ankle) was a limited participant in Friday's practice. Hart began the Chargers' week of practice with an estimated DNP after sustaining a concussion in the Week 11 win over the Bengals. However, he upgraded to a limited session Friday, which suggests he may be trending toward playing in Monday night's matchup against the Ravens. Hart must still clear the NFL's five-step concussion protocol in order to suit up in Week 12.

  • Chargers' Cam Hart: Active in loss

Hart recorded seven tackles (six solo), a pass breakup and a forced fumble in Monday's 17-15 loss to the Cardinals. The cornerback also played on at least 95 percent of the defensive snaps for the second straight game in place of Asante Samuel (shoulder). Hart has 12 total tackles (10 solo) this season. Samuel is on IR and will have to miss at least two more games.

  • Chargers' Cam Hart: Los Angeles adds in fifth round

The Chargers selected Hart in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 140th overall. Hart was a productive three-year starter on a dominant Notre Dame pass defense, and at 6-foot-3, 202 pounds, he's one of the most athletic cornerbacks in the draft (4.5-second 40-yard dash, 39.5-inch vertical, 130-inch broad jump). The problem with Hart is the classic problem afflicting nearly any corner 6-foot-3 or taller, which is that his athleticism is more linear than lateral. With legs that long, it can be difficult to start/stop and change direction like some of the NFL's quicker receivers can. The fix is usually to run Cover-3 principles and keep the player's responsibilities concentrated downfield and toward the sideline, and that might be the Chargers' plan with Hart.
