Colts' Spencer Shrader: Makes four field goals in Week 3 win
Shrader made all four of his field-goal attempts while connecting on his lone extra-point try during the Colts' 19-17 win over the Texans on Sunday.
It looked like Shrader was going to observe Sunday's contest from the sidelines after he sustained a groin injury during pregame warmups. However, Shrader was cleared to attempt a field goal in the first quarter, and two of his four made field goals came from 50-plus yards, including a 53-yarder with 19 seconds left in the fourth quarter to give the Colts their first win of the season. Shrader has made all eight of his field-goal attempts (including three from 50-plus yards) and six of seven extra-point tries through the first three games of the regular season.

Colts' Spencer Shrader: Returns from groin issue
Shrader (groin) returned in the first quarter of Sunday's game against the Texans, Joel A. Erickson of The Indianapolis Star reports.
Shrader appeared to injure his groin during pregame warmups, but he was brought out for a 39-yard field goal with 4:38 remaining in first quarter, which he connected on. He may be limited to extra-point attempts and short field goals for the rest of Sunday's game.

Colts' Spencer Shrader: Tweaks groin, questionable to return
Shrader (groin) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Texans, Nathan Brown of The Indianapolis Star reports.
Shrader appeared to have injured his groin during pregame warmups, as punter Rigoberto Sanchez was the one who booted the ball for the Colts on the opening kickoff. Sanchez could handle all of the kicking duties Sunday if Shrader is not cleared to return.

Colts' Spencer Shrader: Perfect in OT loss
Shrader made all three of his field-goal attempts and PATs in Sunday night's 33-30 overtime loss to the Chiefs.
All three of Shrader's field goals were under 50 yards, including his game-tying make in overtime from 38 yards. The kicker has made all four of his field goals this season and five of six PATs through two contests.

Shrader converted his only field-goal attempt and two of his three extra-point tries during Indianapolis' loss to the Ravens on Sunday.
Shrader's lone make came from 58 yards out, which was a new career long for the 27-year-old. Shrader has won Indianapolis' kicking job after the Colts cut Blake Grupe on Sunday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Shrader has been a journeyman so far in his career, making nine regular-season appearances between three teams the last two years. After facing off with Blake Grupe during training camp and the preseason, though, Shrader will be the Week 1 placekicker for the Colts, seemingly due to connecting on a pair of 60-plus yard field goals during exhibition season.

Colts' Spencer Shrader: Makes two FGs while Grupe misses
Shrader made both of his field-goal attempts in Saturday's 34-6 preseason loss to the Falcons.
Not many Colts had positive takeaways from Saturday's lopsided loss, but Shrader is an exception. The 27-year-old kicker converted from 48 and 53 yards, while Blake Grupe missed a 36-yard attempt on the latter's only kick Saturday. Indianapolis' kicker competition has yet to be decided ahead of next Saturday's preseason finale against the Lions.

Colts' Spencer Shrader: One less make than Grupe on Friday
Shrader went 5-for-6 on field-goal attempts at Friday's training camp practice while Blake Grupe made all six of his attempts, Abby Halpin of the Colts' official site reports.
Shrader has recovered from a torn ACL that he suffered in Week 5 of the 2025 season. He was the Colts' starting kicker prior to that point but will need to earn that role back by beating out Grupe in a training-camp competition. "I think it'll be a really good competition," special-teams coordinator Brian Mason said Thursday. "We're going to try to get those guys the exact same number of kicks as similar as we possibly can."

Colts' Spencer Shrader: Working his way back
Shrader (knee) went three of five on kicks during Thursday's minicamp session, Kevin Bowen 93.5 The Fan in Indianapolis reports.
It's notable that the kicker is participating in practice after tearing his ACL in Week 5 of the 2025 campaign after being run into by a defender. Shrader is on track to compete with Blake Grupe for the Colts' starting kick job during training camp. Grupe made all five of his kicks Thursday, per Bowen.

Colts' Spencer Shrader: Kicking again
General manager Chris Ballard said Monday that Shrader (knee) will kick with the team during training camp in July, JJ Stankevitz of the Colts' official site reports.
Shrader tore the ACL in his plant leg when he was run into on an extra-point attempt in Week 5 of the 2025 season versus the Raiders, but he appears to be progressing well in his recovery. Per Ballard, he recently made a 54-yard field goal during a workout. He performed well as Indianapolis' starting kicker last year before suffering the season-ending injury, making 13 of his 14 field-goal attempts and all 14 of his extra-point tries over five games, but Blake Grupe, who signed a one-year, $1.4 million contract with the Colts in March, will be tough competition for the club's starting kicker job this summer.
