Steelers' Joey Porter: Activated from active/PUP list
The Steelers activated Porter (back) from the active/PUP list Sunday, Teresa Varley of the team's official site reports.
Porter opened training camp on the active/PUP list due to a back injury and missed the entirety of the 2026 preseason. The cornerback appears healthy and ready to play amidst trade rumors. Assuming Porter stays with the Steelers, he should be all set to start at outside cornerback across from Jamel Dean in the Week 1 game against the Falcons.

Steelers' Joey Porter: Opens camp on PUP list
The Steelers placed Porter (back) on the active/PUP list Tuesday.
Porter was off to the side on an exercise bike during spring practices, and he aggravated a back issue Tuesday morning, according to Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com. There's been no indication Porter is dealing with a long-term issue. He dealt with elbow, hip and hamstring injuries last season, limiting him to 14 regular-season contests.

Steelers' Joey Porter: Totals 52 tackles in regular season
Porter logged 52 tackles (35 solo), including a sack, along with an interception and 14 pass defenses while appearing in 14 regular-season games in 2025.
Porter suffered a hamstring injury during the Steelers' regular-season opener that forced him to miss three games early in the year, but he still put together a productive campaign. Despite his missed games, the 2023 second-round pick set a career-high mark in pass defenses. Porter is entering the final year of his rookie deal in 2026 and should have plenty of motivation to remain productive during his contract year.

Steelers' Joey Porter: Ready to rock
Porter (elbow) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Ravens, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Porter was able to upgrade to a full participant Friday, just a day after sustaining an elbow injury. The starting cornerback is set to suit up for Sunday's divisional matchup alongside fellow starter James Pierre, who was also cleared of injury designation. With both outside corners healthy, it remains to be seen how the Steelers plan to use recently acquired Asante Samuel.
