Commanders' Jordan Magee: Lands on IR with hamstring injury
The Commanders placed Magee (hamstring) on injured reserve Wednesday, Zach Selby of the team's official site reports.
Magee suffered a hamstring injury in the fourth quarter of the Commanders' 24-22 loss to the Eagles on Sunday. His placement on IR means Magee will be forced to miss at least the next four games, making Week 6 against the 49ers on Monday, Oct. 19 the earliest he can return. Frankie Luvu (groin) also sustained an injury against Philadelphia, and if cannot play against the Cowboys in Week 2, then Leo Chenal would likely fill in as the Commanders' second starting inside linebacker alongside rookie first-rounder Sonny Styles.

Magee recorded 54 total tackles (31 solo) and a pass defensed over 17 games during the 2025 regular season.
Magee was limited to 24 total defensive snaps over the team's first six contests of the year, but he then saw an expanded role as a rotational linebacker, playing no fewer than 14 snaps on defense in the team's remaining 11 regular-season games. As a result, the 24-year-old was able to finish sixth on Washington's defense in total takedowns, far exceeding the nine total tackles he compiled in his rookie campaign in 2024. With starting outside linebacker Von Miller entering the offseason as a free agent, Magee could have a chance to step into a starting role next year.

Magee was limited in practice all week and took a questionable tag into Sunday, but he'll be ready to reprise his typical duties as a rotational linebacker. Magee did end up returning midway through the season but was used almost exclusively on special teams. Magee missed Weeks 17 and 18 due to a hamstring issue but returned to action for last weekend's wild-card win against Tampa Bay.
