He was placed in protocol midweek, which makes it an uphill climb for him to be cleared for Sunday's game at the Chiefs. Wilson also logged a 'DNP' on Wednesday, so the wideout's apparent absence from Wednesday's session sets the stage for Friday's practice to loom large in terms of his availability for Sunday's game against the Chiefs. Wilson, who is in the NFL's concussion protocol, is considered day-to-day, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
As a result, Wilson's status for Sunday's road game against the Chiefs will need to be tracked closely in the coming days. The wideout is coming off a six-catch, 83-yard effort in the Jets' Week 8 loss to the Raiders, and if Wilson ends up sidelined this weekend, added opportunities would be available for Omar Cooper, Adonai Mitchell and Isaiah Williams.

Jets' Garrett Wilson: Targeted 12 times in Week 8 loss
Wilson caught six of 12 targets for 83 yards in Sunday's 38-33 loss to the Raiders.
Wilson saw his second-highest target total of the season Sunday after being targeted a season-low three times in the Week 7 loss to Miami. After being outplayed by Omar Cooper in each of the previous two games, Wilson took a back seat to Adonai Mitchell in this one, as Mitchell caught seven of nine targets for 142 yards and a touchdown while Cooper went without a target. The Jets have three capable wide receivers for the first time in a while, but Wilson easily leads the team with 527 receiving yards heading into a Week 9 road game against the Chiefs, while Mitchell's a distant second with 265 receiving yards.

Jets' Garrett Wilson: Denies trade request talk
Wilson said Wednesday that he won't ask to be traded from the Jets, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
Trade talks are heating up across the league and teams in the Jets' position are being looked at as potential sellers at the deadline. Wilson, who has been a Jet since 2022, will not seek a trade from the club, however. The fifth-year wideout is off to a strong start this season, drawing a 25.8 percent target share and averaging 1.98 yards per route run.
