  • Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: Remains in recovery mode

Charbonnet (knee) remains on the active/PUP list as the Seahawks' second preseason contest (Sunday, Aug. 23 versus the Titans) approaches.

Since placing Charbonnet (who unsurprisingly was on Seattle's 'did not play' list in Saturday's preseason opener against the Cowboys) on the PUP list July 22, the Seahawks haven't offered a concrete update on when the running back might return to practice. However, given that surgery to repair the torn ACL Charbonnet sustained during last season's playoffs didn't occur until Feb. 20, it's reasonable to expect Charbonnet will remain sidelined out of the gate once the team's regular-season slate commences. In that scenario, fellow RBs Jadarian Price (lower body), George Holani and Emanuel Wilson (hamstring) would be in line to see added opportunities early on this season. Seattle's unofficial depth chart currently lists Holani ahead of Price (listed second) and Wilson (third), and while Holani figures to see his share of touches come Week 1, Price -- the No. 32 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft -- remains the upside play in fantasy terms and also should claim a decent portion of the workload, provided he can get (and stay) healthy before then.

  • Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: Placed on PUP list

The Seahawks have placed Charbonnet (knee) on the physically unable to perform list ahead of training camp, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.

The move doesn't come as a surprise, as Charbonnet is coming back from February knee surgery. While a timetable has yet to be outlined for his return, coach Mike Macdonald has been impressed by the work that the running back has been putting in during his rehab process. "He's doing a great job," Macdonald said of Charbonnet last month. "I know he has high expectations for himself, and we're looking forward to seeing where it ends up." At this stage, the expectation is that Charbonnet will miss time out of the gate this season, but once he's ready to return to game action, the 2023 second-rounder will look to claim a key role in a Seahawks RB corps that no longer includes Kenneth Walker. For now, Jadarian Price, George Holani and Emanuel Wilson are the team's top healthy options at the position.

  • Seahawks' Zach Charbonnet: Progressing well in recovery

Coach Mike Macdonald said Wednesday that Charbonnet continues to do a "great job" in his recovery from the torn ACL he suffered during the divisional-round of last season's playoffs, Cameron Van Til of Seattle Sports reports.

Per the report, Charbonnet, who underwent surgery to repair his left knee Feb. 20, did some conditioning work during Tuesday's minicamp practice. Given the timing of his procedure, the expectation has been that Charbonnet will miss time out of the gate this coming season, and in that scenario 2026 first-round pick Jadarian Price, as well as George Holani and Emanuel Wilson, would be in line to handle Seattle's backfield duties come Week 1. However, when asked if there's a chance Charbonnet could be ready by the start of the season, Macdonald said Wednesday, "Everything's possible." Either way, Charbonnet's progress will be worth monitoring closely as the summer rolls along, and once he's ready to return to game action, the 2023 second-rounder will have an opportunity to claim a key role in a Seahawks RB corps that no longer includes Kenneth Walker, who led the team with 221 carries in 2025.
