Top Treylon Burks News

  • Commanders' Treylon Burks: Back at practice

Burks (foot) returned to Commanders practice Saturday, Zach Selby of the Commanders' official site reports.

Burks missed Thursday's practice due to a sore foot, but he wasn't held out of action long. That's good news for the 2022 first-round draft pick, as he has an opportunity during training camp to compete for a major role in the offense. Antonio Williams and Luke McCaffrey are among the other players jostling for the No. 2 WR role behind Terry McLaurin in an unsettled Washington receiver corps.

  • Commanders' Treylon Burks: Misses practice with sore foot

Burks missed Thursday's practice with foot soreness, Ben Standig of Big 100 Washington D.C. reports.

The 2022 first-round pick is part of what seems to be an open competition for WR roles behind locked-in No. 1 Terry McLaurin. Rumors connect Washington with multiple veteran wideouts, but the current depth chart gives Burks a real shot at a top-three role, competing against the likes of Antonio Williams, Luke McCaffrey, Dyami Brown, Jaylin Lane and Van Jefferson.

  • Commanders' Treylon Burks: Back to Washington on one-year deal

The Commanders re-signed Burks to a one-year contract worth up to $4 million Friday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

After some injury-plagued seasons in Tennessee, Burks signed with Washington back in October and appeared in eight regular-season games for the Commanders last season. He reeled in 10 of 22 targets for 130 yards and one touchdown on 60 percent of the offensive snaps across the second half of the season. The Commanders' wide-receiver depth chart is wide open behind Terry McLaurin, as Deebo Samuel is ticketed for free agency next week.

  • Commanders' Treylon Burks: Ends season with quiet game

Burks caught two of four targets for 12 yards in Sunday's 24-17 win over the Eagles.

Burks worked as Washington's No. 3 receiver throughout much of the second half of the season, ultimately catching just 10 of 22 targets for 130 yards and a touchdown in eight games. The 2022 first-round pick is scheduled for unrestricted free agency this offseason.

  • Commanders' Treylon Burks: Set to play Sunday

Burks (illness) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's contest in Philadelphia, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.

Burks showed up Thursday as a non-participant due to an illness, but his return to all activity one day later sets him up to be available to the Commanders offense this weekend. While working with No. 3 QB Josh Johnson last Thursday against the Cowboys, Burks played 91 percent of the snaps but was targeted just twice, hauling in one of them for 11 yards. Burks likely will have a similar role Sunday working alongside top WRs Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel and Johnson under center in place of Marcus Mariota (right hand/quadriceps).

  • Commanders' Treylon Burks: Misses practice Thursday

Burks (illness) did not practice Thursday.

Burks wasn't listed on Wednesday's injury report, an indication that his illness is a new development. Unless he's able to resume practicing in full Friday, it appears that Burks will be assigned an injury designation for Washington's season finale against the Eagles on Sunday, for which third-string quarterback Josh Johnson is trending toward another start.

  • Commanders' Treylon Burks: Held to one catch in loss to Dallas

Burks secured one of two targets for one yard during Thursday's 30-23 loss to the Cowboys.

Burks also attempted one pass on a trick play near the end of the third quarter, but he was sacked. Though Burks has found limited success as a deep threat in Washington, he was unable to get anything going with No. 3 quarterback Josh Johnson under center on Christmas Day. It will be beneficial to Burks' limited fantasy appeal if Marcus Mariota (hand) manages to return in time for Washington's regular-season finale against the Eagles in Week 18.
