  • Colts' Anthony Gould: Ruled out for Week 9

Gould (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Steelers, James Boyd of The Athletic reports. Gould was injured in last Sunday's win over the Titans and will miss his first game of the season. Gould has just one catch for three yards this season, seeing 11 percent of the offensive snaps. With Gould out, Ashton Dulin and Adonai Mitchell could see sparse snaps behind Michael Pittman, Alec Pierce and Josh Downs.

  • Colts' Anthony Gould: Opens week with DNP

Gould (knee) did not participate in Wednesday's practice. Gould sustained a knee injury during the Colts' Week 8 win over the Titans, when he played 10 snaps (three on offense, seven on special teams) and logged 33 yards on two kickoff returns and 42 yards on two punt returns. He'll have two more opportunities to return to practice and avoid an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Steelers, but if he isn't cleared to play, then Ashton Dulin would stand to take on most of the kickoff and punt return responsibilities for the Colts.

  • Colts' Anthony Gould: Exits with knee injury

Gould (knee) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Titans, Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan Indianapolis reports. The Colts hold a commanding lead late in the fourth quarter, so Gould wouldn't likely return to Sunday's game even if he was cleared to do so. Adonai Mitchell and Tyler Goodson were the Colts' two kickoff returners in Gould's absence.

  • Colts' Anthony Gould: Works as No. 3 receiver

Gould took the field for 39 of the Colts' 60 snaps on offense and finished with one reception for three yards on his only target in Sunday's 38-24 win over the Chargers. Gould moved into the No. 3 receiver role ahead of Adonai Mitchell while the Colts were without Josh Downs (concussion) and Ashton Dulin (chest). Gould likely will return to a special teams role as a return man once the Colts get one of Downs or Dulin back in the lineup.

  • Colts' Anthony Gould: Questionable for Week 4

Gould (illness) is questionable to play in Sunday's contest against the Rams. Gould has battled an illness the last couple of days and missed practice Thursday before logging a limited session Friday. If the wide receiver can't go in Week 4, Ashton Dulin and Josh Downs would be top candidates to see an increase in workload on special teams.

  • Colts' Anthony Gould: Under the weather

Gould did not participate in Thursday's practice due to an illness. The illness is a new issue, as the 2024 fifth-rounder did not appear on Wednesday's injury report. It's unclear how severe Gould's illness is, but Friday's injury report will provide clarity on his chances of playing against the Rams on Sunday. Gould has primarily served on special teams and has returned six kickoffs for 181 yards and two punts for four yards through the first three games of the regular season.

  • Colts' Anthony Gould: Looks set as punt returner

Gould had four receptions for 43 yards on six targets in Saturday's preseason win over the Bengals. Gould looks set to be Indy's punt returner, 107.5 FM The Fan Indianapolis reports. Gould also looks set to make the 53-man roster as the No. 6 receiver, but he will have most of his value as a punt returner. He had just one reception last season and may not have much of a role on offense.

  • Colts' Anthony Gould: Plays eight games in rookie year

Gould caught his lone target for 23 yards while adding 206 kick-return yards and 95 punt-return yards across eight regular-season games in 2024. Gould was selected by the Colts in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 142nd overall. He got some reps with the first-team offense during training camp and had an impressive preseason, but he was a healthy scratch from Weeks 4-12 and mostly was used on special teams as a returner when he did play during the regular season. Gould will participate in offseason activities and look to earn a bigger role for himself on offense for the 2025 campaign.

  • Colts' Anthony Gould: Healthy scratch for Week 4

Gould (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Steelers. Gould appeared in each of the Colts' first three games, operating primarily as a return man. However, with Josh Downs back in the mix, Gould is the odd man out in the Colts' wideout corps.

  • Colts' Anthony Gould: Minimal role on offense

Gould did not have a reception or target in Sunday's 16-10 loss at Green Bay. He played just one snap on offense. After an impressive preseason, Gould has had a minimal role on offense with just 17 snaps played in two games and no targets. He's mostly being used as a kick returner on special teams, but the Colts did not return a kickoff against the Packers.

  • Colts' Anthony Gould: Four receptions in preseason finale

Gould had four receptions for 25 yards on five targets in Thursday's preseason win over the Bengals. The 2024 fifth-round draft pick was seen mostly as a candidate for special teams as a star punt and kickoff returner, but had an impressive training camp and preseason that saw him get time with the first-team offense. He may have also won the kickoff return job and could take over the punt return job if Josh Downs misses regular season games due to a high ankle sprain.

  • Colts' Anthony Gould: Gets time with first-team offense

Gould worked with the first-team offense as a receiver but was not targeted with a pass in Sunday's preseason loss to Denver, the Indianapolis Star reports. He had five kickoff returns for a 27.6 yard average and one punt return for nine yards. The 2024 fifth-round draft pick was seen mostly as a candidate for special teams as a star punt and kickoff returner, but has been working with the first-team offense in training camp at times as a receiver. He could take over the punt return job if Josh Downs misses regular season games due to a high ankle sprain.

  • Colts' Anthony Gould: Making push for WR duty

Gould has been used with the first-team offense in the slot at times during training camp and has made a strong impression, James Boyd of The Athletic reports. The 2024 fifth-round draft pick was seen mostly as a candidate for special teams, as he's also competing for the punt-return job (he was an elite punt returner at Oregon State). However, it looks like he could be in the receiver mix, which may have openings for playing time if Josh Downs misses regular-season games with a high-ankle sprain.

  • Colts' Anthony Gould: Added by Indy

The Colts selected Gould in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 142nd overall. Gould will join Adonai Mitchell as rookies in the Colts' receiver room, though Gould is far less likely to make an immediate offensive impact. He didn't break out until his fifth season with Oregon State, when he posted 44 receptions for 718 yards and two touchdowns. However, Indianapolis may have opted for Gould due to his skills on special teams, as he was an elite punt returner with the Beavers -- earning All-American and All Pac-12 Honors in 2022 after leading the nation with a punt return average of 18.3 yards.
