Devlin Hodges: Announces retirement
Hodges announced his retirement from football Friday, Pat Damp of CBS Pittsburgh reports.
Hodges served mainly as a backup quarterback for the Steelers during his career, and he failed to carve out a role with the Rams in 2021. The 26-year-old made eight appearances for Pittsburgh in 2019 and completed 100 of 160 passes for 1,063 yards, five touchdowns and eight interceptions while rushing 21 times for 68 yards.

Devlin Hodges: Waived by Rams
Hodges was waived by the Rams on Monday, Cameron DaSilva of USA Today reports.
Hodges was cut by the Rams as the team must trim their roster down to 80 players by 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday. The former Steelers quarterback now is subject to waivers, which allows him to be claimed by another team. Hodges likely will aim to compete for a backup role on a team that needs depth at the position.

Rams' Devlin Hodges: To split snaps in preseason opener
Hodges is expected to split snaps with Bryce Perkins in the Rams' preseason opener against the Chargers, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com reports.
Hodges suited up with the Steelers for eight games in 2019 before spending last season on their practice squad. He subsequently signed a reserve/future contract with the Rams following the season. The Samson product will compete with Perkins during the preseason for the team's backup role under center.

Hodges spent the 2020 season on the Steelers' practice squad. The Samford product has starting experience from the 2019 season when he played eight games (six starts) with the Steelers and completed 63 percent of passes for 1,063 yards, five TDs and eight interceptions, while adding 68 rushing yards on 21 carries.
