Cowboys' P.J. Locke: Practice window opens
The Cowboys opened Locke's (foot) 21-day practice window Friday, Tommy Yarrish of the team's official site reports.
The Cowboys placed Locke on injured reserve Sept. 26. The safety likely won't be available for Monday night's showdown with the Eagles, but Week 8 against the Cardinals is on the table. Locke will need to be activated by Nov. 13 or he must spend the remainder of the 2026 season on IR.

Cowboys' P.J. Locke: Placed on injured reserve
The Cowboys placed Locke (foot) on injured reserve Saturday.
Locke has not practiced since sustaining a foot injury in the Cowboys' Week 2 win over the Commanders. The free safety must now miss at least four games on IR before becoming eligible to return to the team's active roster. While Locke is absent, Marquese Bell will likely start at free safety alongside strong safety Jalen Thompson.

Cowboys' P.J. Locke: Won't play in Brazil
Locke (foot) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Ravens.
Locke sustained a foot injury during the Cowboys' Week 2 win over the Commanders. The injury is severe enough for him to not play against Baltimore, and he'll look to progress enough in his recovery to be available for Week 4 against the Texans on Sunday, Oct. 4. With Malik Hooker (forearm) also ruled out, Markquese Bell figures to start alongside Jalen Thompson at safety while Caleb Downs serves as the slot corner.

Cowboys' P.J. Locke: Set to miss time with foot injury
Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer said S P.J. Locke (foot) could need a "few weeks" to recover after exiting Sunday's 37-20 win over the Commanders, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
Schottenheimer revealed that Locke tore his plantar fascia in his right foot, which looks set to keep him sidelined for at least the Cowboys' Week 3 matchup with the Ravens in Brazil. With Locke out and Malik Hooker on the mend from a forearm injury, the Cowboys' depth at safety is already being tested early in the season.

Cowboys' P.J. Locke: Dealing with foot injury
Locke (foot) is questionable to return to Sunday's contest against the Commanders, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
Locke suffered a foot injury in the first quarter, and his status for the remainder of the game is uncertain. The Cowboys are already operating without Malik Hooker (forearm) in Week 2, so they'll be especially thin while Locke is sidelined.

Cowboys' P.J. Locke: Almost ready to return
Locke (knee) is nearing a return to the practice field, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
The safety suffered a hyperextended knee during a training camp practice July 29, though he avoided a serious injury. Locke is lined up to serve as Dallas' third safety behind Malik Hooker and Jalen Thompson, and as long as he can return to the field sooner rather than later, he should have a good chance to cement that spot.

Cowboys' P.J. Locke: Avoids significant injury
Locke suffered a hyperextended knee at training camp practice Wednesday, Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Locke went down with a noncontact injury, and he was forced to leave the practice early. The safety appears to have avoided a major injury, and the team's doctors aren't overly concerned. Locke is set to operate as a top rotational piece behind Malik Hooker and Jalen Thompson in the secondary with Dallas this season, and in his absence, Alijah Clark is a top candidate to see an increase in reps at practice.

Cowboys' P.J. Locke: Dealing with knee issue
Locke suffered a noncontact knee injury during a training camp practice Wednesday, Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News reports.
It's not clear exactly what type of injury Locke is tending to, and the Cowboys may not be in any rush to throw the offseason free agent acquisition back into action. In his absence, Alijah Clark could see an uptick in reps at practice in the secondary.

Cowboys' P.J. Locke: Signing with Dallas
Locke is set to sign a one-year contract with the Cowboys, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Locke will ink a one-year deal worth up to $5 million as he moves from Denver to Dallas. The free safety will likely compete for a starting role alongside fellow free-agent addition Jalen Thompson. Locke is coming off an underwhelming 2025 season where he played a majority of his snaps on special teams, but a change of scenery could allow the 29-year-old to return to a starting role.

Broncos' P.J. Locke: Finishes 2025 with 16 tackles
Locke recorded 16 tackles (nine solo) and three passes defensed in 16 regular-season games with Denver in 2025.
Locke had an underwhelming 2025 campaign, recording his lowest tackle total since his sophomore campaign in 2021. The 28-year-old safety took a backseat to fellow safety Brandon Jones (pectoral) this season, leading to what was a down year for the veteran Locke. He did play a prominent role on special teams for much of the season, playing more special teams snaps (197) than defensive snaps (173) for the first time since 2022. The Texas product is set to become an unrestricted free agent in the offseason, giving him the chance to test the market ahead of the 2026 campaign.
