Cowboys' P.J. Locke: Active for preseason opener
Locke (knee) was active for the Cowboys' 17-7 preseason victory over Seattle on Saturday.
Locke has been dealing with a knee injury during training camp, but he was able to play in the preseason opener. The safety was on the field for seven defensive snaps, and he didn't record any stats. Locke is expected to serve as a top reserve option behind Malik Hooker and Jalen Thompson this season, and his next opportunity to play will come Saturday on the road against Arizona.

Cowboys' P.J. Locke: Almost ready to return
Locke (knee) is nearing a return to the practice field, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
The safety suffered a hyperextended knee during a training camp practice July 29, though he avoided a serious injury. Locke is lined up to serve as Dallas' third safety behind Malik Hooker and Jalen Thompson, and as long as he can return to the field sooner rather than later, he should have a good chance to cement that spot.

Cowboys' P.J. Locke: Avoids significant injury
Locke suffered a hyperextended knee at training camp practice Wednesday, Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Locke went down with a noncontact injury, and he was forced to leave the practice early. The safety appears to have avoided a major injury, and the team's doctors aren't overly concerned. Locke is set to operate as a top rotational piece behind Malik Hooker and Jalen Thompson in the secondary with Dallas this season, and in his absence, Alijah Clark is a top candidate to see an increase in reps at practice.

Cowboys' P.J. Locke: Dealing with knee issue
Locke suffered a noncontact knee injury during a training camp practice Wednesday, Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News reports.
It's not clear exactly what type of injury Locke is tending to, and the Cowboys may not be in any rush to throw the offseason free agent acquisition back into action. In his absence, Alijah Clark could see an uptick in reps at practice in the secondary.

Cowboys' P.J. Locke: Signing with Dallas
Locke is set to sign a one-year contract with the Cowboys, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Locke will ink a one-year deal worth up to $5 million as he moves from Denver to Dallas. The free safety will likely compete for a starting role alongside fellow free-agent addition Jalen Thompson. Locke is coming off an underwhelming 2025 season where he played a majority of his snaps on special teams, but a change of scenery could allow the 29-year-old to return to a starting role.

Broncos' P.J. Locke: Finishes 2025 with 16 tackles
Locke recorded 16 tackles (nine solo) and three passes defensed in 16 regular-season games with Denver in 2025.
Locke had an underwhelming 2025 campaign, recording his lowest tackle total since his sophomore campaign in 2021. The 28-year-old safety took a backseat to fellow safety Brandon Jones (pectoral) this season, leading to what was a down year for the veteran Locke. He did play a prominent role on special teams for much of the season, playing more special teams snaps (197) than defensive snaps (173) for the first time since 2022. The Texas product is set to become an unrestricted free agent in the offseason, giving him the chance to test the market ahead of the 2026 campaign.

He had an extra week to recover from the injury thanks to the Broncos' bye to the divisional round, and with his full pratice Tuesday, Locke is on track to play against the Bills on Saturday. He ended the 2025 regular season with 16 tackles (nine solo) and three pass defenses over 16 games while serving on both defense and special teams.

Broncos' P.J. Locke: Leaves game with leg injury
Locke (leg) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Chargers, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.

Broncos' P.J. Locke: Set to play Thursday
Locke (neck) is active for Thursday's Week 10 matchup against Las Vegas.
Locke missed last Sunday's win over Houston due to a neck issue, but it appears that his absence won't extend beyond one game. Locke's return will most impact Denver's special-teams unit, as the safety logged just 12 defensive snaps (as opposed to 128 snaps on special teams) over the club's first eight contests.

Broncos' P.J. Locke: Questionable to play Thursday
Locke (neck) is questionable to play in Thursday night's contest against the Raiders.
Locke was able to improve from a non-participant to a full participant at the team's three walkthroughs this week, but he'll ultimately enter Week 10 with an injury designation. The safety missed the team's Week 9 win over the Texans, but his absence carried the greatest impact with the team's special-teams unit.
