Detroit waived Keys (leg) from its injured-reserve list with an injury settlement Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Unless he's scooped up by another team during the current waiver period, Keys is now on track to become a free agent. He's still waiting to make his NFL regular-season debut, but his next opportunity may have to come with a different squad.

Keys left Monday's training camp practice due to a leg injury, Tim Twentyman of the Lions' official site reports.
Keys signed with the Lions in mid-July. The wide receiver most recently spent time at the NFL level with the Bills in 2024 but was let go before the season began due to a leg issue. However, he's enjoyed some success with Houston in the UFL the last two springs, posting a 41-527-2 receiving line, five carries for 26 yards and 1,169 total return yards over 18 regular-season appearances in that span.

Keys sustained the injury during one-on-one drills at practice. He played 15 snaps (14 on offense, one on special teams) in Saturday's 33-6 preseason loss to the Bears, finishing with one catch for 13 yards. The undrafted rookie out of Tulane is a long shot to make the Bills' final 53-man roster, and missing preseason games would hurt his chances even more.
