Lions' Penei Sewell: Move to LT being considered
Lions head coach Dan Campbell said that the team has discussed moving Sewell (ankle) from right to left tackle this offseason but that no final decision has been made yet, Albert Breer of SI.com reports.
Sewell's last time primarily playing left tackle came back in 2019 with Oregon, when he earned Outland Trophy honors as the best collegiate offensive lineman, per Dave Birkett of The Detroit Free Press. While Sewell also did start the first eight games of his NFL career at LT in 2021 as an injury fill-in, he's since operated at RT and emerged as arguably the league's top player at the position. Following the departure of longtime LT Taylor Decker, however, having Sewell guard QB Jared Goff's blind side could be the anchor the Lions' new-look O-line requires to thrive.

Lions' Penei Sewell: Ruled out with ankle issue
Sewell (ankle) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Bears.
Sewell was unable to practice throughout Week 18 due to the ankle injury he suffered in the Christmas Day loss to the Vikings. Dan Skipper is set to suit up at right tackle in the All-Pro's place for Sunday's contest. Sewell will have the offseason to rehab his ankle issue and prepare for the 2026 season, as the Lions have been eliminated from playoff contention.

Lions' Penei Sewell: Nursing ankle injury
Sewell (ankle) didn't practice Wednesday.
The All-Pro tackle from Oregon likely sustained an ankle injury in the Week 17 loss to the Vikings, as he wasn't on Detroit's injury report leading up to the Christmas Day contest. Sewell likely needs to upgrade to limited practice Thursday or Friday in order to play in the Week 18 matchup against the Bears on Sunday.
