Vikings' Jordan Mason: Just three totes in preseason opener
Mason carried the ball three times for 17 yards in Saturday's 13-10 preseason win over the Giants.
The Vikings' starters on offense played just one possession, with both Mason and Aaron Jones getting snaps on a drive that ended with a 35-yard Will Reichard field goal. Mason was productive in his first season with Minnesota in 2025, rushing for 758 yards and six TDs on 159 carries in 16 regular-season games, and he seems set to work in a timeshare with Jones once again. The 31-year-old Jones still offers more big-play potential and utility as a receiver, but Mason should see the majority of the high-value touches near the goal line.

Vikings' Jordan Mason: Running well early in camp
Mason has been putting together a productive training camp with the Vikings, Will Ragatz of Bring Me The Sports reports.
Mason is expected to operate in a timeshare with veteran Aaron Jones in the backfield for a second straight season. The running back has made an early statement at camp, showing some added burst in his second year in Kevin O'Connell's offensive system. Jones was limited to 12 contests due to injury in 2025, and he'll turn 32 before the end of the upcoming season, so 27-year-old Mason could be asked to handle a larger split of the workload in Year 2 in Minnesota.

Vikings' Jordan Mason: Still sharing backfield with Jones
As training camp approaches, Mason is slated to reclaim a key role in a Minnesota backfield that also includes Aaron Jones and rookie sixth-rounder Demond Claiborne, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.
Though the Vikings have yet to declare a starting QB between Kyler Murray and J.J. McCarthy, there's continuity elsewhere in the offense, with the team's top two RBs, WRs and TEs from last year back for another campaign. Mason is coming off a 2025 regular season in which he recorded 758 yards and six TDs on 159 carries to go along with 14 catches for 51 yards in 16 contests, while Jones carried the ball 132 times for 548 yards and two touchdowns, adding 28 catches (on 41 targets) for 199 yards and a score in 12 games. With Mason and Jones both still around, another RB timeshare -- one that favors Jones in PPR formats -- is in the making for 2026, while Claiborne is a candidate to mix in on passing downs.
