NFL Rookie Minicamp Recap: Travis Hunter Participates at Jaguars Rookie Minicamp

Player Outlook
Brown enjoyed a breakthrough toward the end of his 2024 season with the Commanders and it was highlighted by an 89-yard game with one touchdown in the playoffs. That flash earned him a contract with the Jaguars this offseason. However, after Jacksonville drafted Travis Hunter at No. 2 overall, Brown's outlook is cloudier in 2025. He will likely battle Parker Washington for playing time and is not worth drafting in Fantasy leagues. Brown could once again emerge as a waiver wire add in season.

  • Jaguars' Dyami Brown: No limitations in practice

Brown (lower body) was a full practice participant Tuesday, Mia O'Brien of 1010 XL 92.5 FM Jacksonville reports. Jaguars coach Liam Coen said Brown missed Sunday's preseason game at New Orleans because of stiffness in his lower body. With Travis Hunter (upper body) also banged up, the Jags turned to Parker Washington and Austin Trammell for first-team WR snaps alongside Brian Thomas. Brown's workload in the regular season will partially depend on how much the Jags want to use two-way phenom Hunter on offense.

  • Jaguars' Dyami Brown: Not playing vs. New Orleans

Brown will not play in Sunday's preseason game against the Saints. The Jaguars will be playing most of their offensive starters outside of Brown and Travis Hunter (upper body). Brown played 10 snaps on offense in the Jaguars' preseason opener against the Steelers, turning one carry into seven yards while not seeing a target. The 2021 third-rounder signed a one-year contract with the Jaguars in March after spending the first four years of his NFL career with the Commanders, and he is slated as the WR3 behind Hunter and Brian Thomas.

  • Jaguars' Dyami Brown: Turns in strong practices

After a slow start to training camp, per John Shipley of SI.com, Brown has put together back-to-back good practices. Per Shipley, Brown made a pair of explosive plays during Tuesday's session and then kept up his momentum Thursday, while "having the best day of any of the wide receivers and showing good chemistry" with starting QB Trevor Lawrence. As the coming campaign approaches, Brown is slated to play a key role in a wideout corps that is led by ascending second-year pro Brian Thomas and also includes WR/CB Travis Hunter, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Beyond that high-profile 1-2 punch, Brown is projected to work as the team's No. 3 option at wide receiver, a context that could land him on the fantasy radar in deeper formats, particularly if Hunter is eased into the offense to any degree as a rookie.

  • Jaguars' Dyami Brown: Headed to Jacksonville

Brown and the Jaguars reached agreement Monday on a one-year, $10 million contract, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports. It's a large contract relative to Brown's production -- at least if the initial figures prove semi-accurate -- but it perhaps shouldn't be a total surprise in light of his performance during the 2024 playoffs. After averaging 0.9 catches for 12.4 yards in 63 career regular-season games, Brown exploded for a 14-229-1 line on 18 targets during Washington's three-game playoff run. He's a 2021 third-round pick with 4.46 speed and only 25 years old, so there's reason to think Brown can help the Jacksonville offense even though he's unlikely to draw a lot of targets. The Jaguars recently released WR Christian Kirk and TE Evan Engram, leaving WRs Brian Thomas, Gabe Davis (knee) and Parker Washington and TE Brenton Strange as the top returning pass catchers from last season.

  • Commanders' Dyami Brown: Maintains key role

Brown recorded three receptions on five targets for 42 yards in Sunday's 55-23 loss to the Eagles in the NFC Championship Game. He also lost a fumble. Brown had emerged as a key contributor in the Washington offense during the team's unlikely postseason run. He took a slight step back in Sunday's loss, as he had a mixed performance that included both positives and negatives. Brown accounted for the team's second-longest play from scrimmage with a 24-yard catch, but he also lost a fumble late in the first quarter to set up a Philadelphia touchdown. The Commanders will likely look to add to their pass-catching corps this offseason, though Brown's unexpected emergence is still intriguing heading into the 2025 campaign.

  • Commanders' Dyami Brown: Back in for Week 18

Brown (hamstring) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Cowboys, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports. Brown upgraded to full practice participation Friday to avoid an injury designation after being a non-participant Wednesday and limited Thursday. He's set to return after a one-game absence and figures to reprise a starting role on the outside in Washington's final regular-season action before the playoffs.

  • Commanders' Dyami Brown: Limited in return to practice

Brown (hamstring) was limited at Thursday's practice. This marks Brown's first notable on-field work since injuring his hamstring Week 16 against the Eagles. He thus will have one more session this week Friday to prove his health, at which point the Commanders could make a decision on his availability, or lack thereof, ahead of Sunday's game at Dallas. Washington can clinch the No. 6 seed in the NFC with a win this weekend, so having all skill-position players available would increase its odds to do so.

  • Commanders' Dyami Brown: Sits out practice

Brown (hamstring) didn't practice Wednesday. Brown was injured in the Commanders' Week 16 win over the Eagles and sat out a Week 17 win over the Falcons. His absence opened up more playing time for Olamide Zaccheaus, who took full advantage with three touchdowns over the past two games. Zaccheaus' emergence could mean that Brown handles a more limited role once he returns, although that wouldn't be anything new after Brown spent much of the year backing up Noah Brown (kidney). The Commanders could get Noah Brown back from injured reserve during the playoffs, so Dyami Brown's run of steady playing time could come to an end in the postseason, if not Week 18.

  • Commanders' Dyami Brown: Listed as DNP on Wednesday

Brown (hamstring) was listed as a non-participant on Wednesday's practice estimate. Brown was knocked out late in this past Sunday's win against the Eagles due to the hamstring issue, but not before racking up four catches (on five targets) for 56 yards. He'll have a pair of chances to get back on the field this week, with Friday's injury report potentially providing some clarity on his status ahead of Sunday's game against the Falcons.

  • Commanders' Dyami Brown: Injures hamstring in Week 16

Brown suffered a hamstring injury during Sunday's game versus the Eagles, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports. Brown departed late in the fourth quarter with four catches (on five targets) for 56 yards to his name. With Brown on the sideline, the Commanders' remaining healthy members of the receiving corps are Terry McLaurin, Olamide Zaccheaus, Jamison Crowder and Luke McCaffrey.

  • Commanders' Dyami Brown: Nabs three balls Sunday

Brown had three receptions on four targets for 30 yards in Sunday's 20-19 win over the Saints. Brown continued to serve as the Commanders' No. 2 wideout with Noah Brown (kidney) being placed on injured reserve. The 24-year-old Brown has generated seven receptions for 65 yards in six quarters of action since taking over for his injured namesake. Brown could generate deep-league appeal with his current role in next Sunday's tilt against the Eagles.

  • Commanders' Dyami Brown: Two grabs in loss

Brown caught both of his targets for 22 yards in Sunday's 34-26 loss to the Cowboys. Brown played just 24 of the Commanders' 70 offensive snaps Sunday and was unable to contribute much in the contest. The fourth-year wideout's sparse usage continues to limit his potential for fantasy production, as fellow receivers Terry McLaurin and Noah Brown are seeing most of the targets from quarterback Jayden Daniels. Brown remains difficult to trust for fantasy purposes heading into a Week 13 matchup against the Titans.

  • Commanders' Dyami Brown: Targeted once

Brown caught his lone target for a 24-yard gain in Sunday's 27-22 win over the Giants. Brown, Olamide Zaccheaus and Luke McCaffrey have been rotating snaps behind No. 1 receiver Terry McLaurin and No. 2 receiver Noah Brown. This was the fourth straight game in which Dyami Brown caught exactly one pass, and he's now up to eight consecutive weeks with either one or two receptions. There's not much reason to expect more than that Week 10 against Pittsburgh, considering the team's other wide receivers mostly have been playing well.

  • Commanders' Dyami Brown: Dealing with ankle injury

Brown was a limited practice participant Wednesday due to an ankle injury. Brown was fifth among Washington's wide receivers in routes and snaps during Sunday's 40-7 win over the Panthers. He typically sees around 1-to-3 targets per game, so any limitations for Week 8 wouldn't have much affect on the Commanders' game plan against Chicago.

  • Commanders' Dyami Brown: Catches one pass

Brown caught his lone target for 11 yards in Sunday's 30-23 loss to the Ravens. Brown dropped to a 32.0 percent snap share, fifth most among Washington's wide receivers, after handling 55.0 percent the week before with Noah Brown inactive due to a groin injury. The Commanders rotate WRs more than most teams, but Brown would probably need multiple injuries in front of him to see more than 2-3 targets per game. Next up is a Week 7 home game against Carolina.

  • Commanders' Dyami Brown: Scores 41-yard TD

Brown caught both of his targets for 57 yards and a touchdown in a 34-13 win over the Browns on Sunday. With Noah Brown (groin) inactive, Brown played 55 percent of snaps on offense, up from 22 percent in Week 3 and 25 percent in Week 4. He beat his defender for a 41-yard TD down the sideline shortly before halftime, but the one big play isn't likely to be enough to break free of a timeshare with Olamide Zaccheaus in the event Brown misses another game Week 6 at Baltimore.

  • Commanders' Dyami Brown: Catches three passes from Daniels

Brown started Saturday's preseason game against Miami and caught each of his three targets for 19 yards. All three receptions came from QB Jayden Daniels on the opening drive, but Brown rotated with Olamide Zaccheaus while Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson played nearly all the first-team snaps. Coach Dan Quinn suggested all the roles are up for grabs behind McLaurin, leaving Dotson, Brown, Zaccheaus and Luke McCaffrey to compete for playing time. Brown has done well this preseason with five catches for 74 yards on six targets, but he might end up in a rotation even if he's a Week 1 starter for the first time since his 2021 rookie season.

  • Commanders' Dyami Brown: Looking good at camp

Coach Dan Quinn said Thursday that Brown has stood out at training camp, Zach Selby of the Commanders' official site reports. The 2021 third-round pick is in the final year of his rookie contract and hoping to impress a new coaching staff after catching only 29 passes over his first three seasons. It sounds like the new coaches have taken notice, perhaps giving Brown a chance to compete with Luke McCaffrey, Olamide Zaccheaus and others for the third and fourth spots at wide receiver. Incumbent starters Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson still top the depth chart and figure to take the lion's share of WR targets.

  • Commanders' Dyami Brown: Held to one catch

Brown caught one of three targets for seven yards in Sunday's loss to the Giants. An early ejection for Curtis Samuel didn't have much impact on Brown's playing time, as Byron Pringle and Jamison Crowder also took on some of the responsibilities of the No. 3 WR role. There's not much fantasy potential in an offense where even the top two wideouts -- Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson -- are struggling to produce.

  • Commanders' Dyami Brown: Puts up 33 yards

Brown caught two of four targets for 33 yards in Sunday's 20-17 win over the Patriots. Brown took advantage of a small bump in playing time with Curtis Samuel (foot) inactive, though Jamison Crowder was the primary replacement in the slot and got 14 more snaps than Brown (37-23). Brown and Byron Pringle should continue rotating in Week 10 at Seattle, but neither is likely to see more than three or four targets.
