Rotowire
Martin (shoulder) was a limited participant at practice Wednesday.
Martin tied for a team lead in tackles (nine) over 69 defensive snaps in Week 10 versus the Lions, and it's not immediately clear when he suffered the shoulder injury. He will get two more shots to manage a full practice prior to the Commanders' last practice report of the week being published Friday.

Commanders' Quan Martin: Able to suit up Week 10
Rotowire
Martin (hamstring) is active for Sunday's matchup against the Lions.

Commanders' Quan Martin: Draws questionable tag for Week 10
Rotowire
Martin (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Lions, Ben Standig of Big 100 Washington D.C. reports.
Martin was unable to practice Wednesday due to a hamstring injury he sustained against Seattle in Week 9. He managed to increase his practice participation over the next two days and was a full participant in Friday's session, but he hasn't been given the green light to play Sunday just yet. Martin's status for Week 10 may not be officially known until the Commanders announce their list of inactive players about 90 minutes before the 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff, but if he's not cleared to play, then Tyler Owens (hamstring) and Darnell Savage would be the top candidates to start at safety alongside Jeremy Reaves.

Martin (hamstring) logged a limited practice session Thursday.
The limited session is an upgrade for Martin after he didn't practice in any capacity Wednesday. Commanders' Quan Martin: Sidelined by illness in Week 18
Rotowire
Martin (illness) is inactive for Sunday's clash against the Cowboys, Zach Selby of the Commanders' official site reports.
Martin was added to the injury report due to the illness early Sunday, and he's now been ruled out for the Commanders' regular-season finale. His absence is a significant one for Washington's secondary, as the Illinois product logged 100 percent of the team's defensive snaps in five of his past six games. Percy Butler or Darrick Forrest could slide into a starting role Sunday in Martin's stead.

Commanders' Quan Martin: Nursing shoulder issue
Rotowire
Martin (shoulder) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.
Despite the Commanders having a Week 14 bye, Martin popped up on Wednesday's injury report with a shoulder issue. He likely sustained the injury in Washington's Week 13 win over the Titans, as he played just 45 defensive snaps, his lowest mark since Week 7. Martin's practice participation Thursday and Friday will likely provide the best indication of whether he can play in Sunday's matchup against the Saints.

Rotowire
Martin (hamstring) does not carry an injury designation ahead of Sunday's game at the Bengals, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
Martin was able to play through the same lingering hamstring issue in Week 2, so it's not surprising that he'll be ready to go for Week 3. The 2023 second-rounder could have some IDP value this week against a pass-happy Cincinnati team.

Commanders' Quan Martin: Headed for starting safety job
Rotowire
Martin is on track to start at free safety this year, according to independent Commanders reporter Mark Bullock.
Martin started his college career as a perimeter cornerback but ultimately spent a lot of time in the slot and also played safety a bit. The Commanders drafted him in the second round last spring, 47th overall, and then installed Martin as their slot corner for most of an up-and-down rookie season. New coach Dan Quinn wants Martin to move to free safety, perhaps because it frees up the nickelback job for rookie second-round pick Mike Sainristil, who was dominant guarding the slot in his final two seasons at Michigan. Martin might face a learning curve at safety, but his 4.47 time and 44-inch vertical jump suggest few players at the position league-wide have similar athleticism.

Commanders' Quan Martin: Finishes rookie season strong
Rotowire
Martin (ankle) started five of 16 games as a rookie in 2023, recording 46 tackles (28 soo), four pass defenses, two interceptions and 1.0 sacks.
The second-round pick played just 17 defensive snaps before November but then got most of the work at slot corner during the second half of his rookie season. It's hard to say if that's truly where he fits best or just where he ended up because the Washington secondary was such a mess. Either way, Martin should have a prominent role in 2024 under a new coaching staff, as he was one of the relative bright spots this past season for one of the league's worst defenses. He's also one of the more athletic defensive backs in the NFL, boasting a 4.46-second 40-yard dash and 44-inch vertical from the 2023 combine.
