Eagles' Tanner McKee: Inconsistent in Week 18 loss
McKee completed 21 of 40 passes for 241 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Sunday's 24-17 loss to the Commanders. He added two rushes for three yards.
Jalen Hurts was active for the game but did not play, leaving McKee with the chance for a spot start. McKee was unsurprisingly inconsistent, leading an impressive 80-yard scoring drive that he capped off with a 15-yard throw to Grant Calcaterra (ankle/knee) early in the second quarter. However, he otherwise largely struggled, with the Eagles' only other touchdown coming on a short field due to a Washington turnover. McKee will return to a reserve role for Philadelphia's playoff run and for the foreseeable future.

Eagles' Tanner McKee: Spot start imminent?
McKee is in line to start Sunday against the Commanders.
Despite QB Jalen Hurts not being included on the Eagles' list of inactives Sunday, he isn't expected to see the field. As McKee did Week 18 of last season when the Eagles sat many of their healthy starters, McKee is slated to get the nod under center this year after completing 27 of 41 passes for 269 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions while rushing three times for one yard in the 2024 regular-season finale. With Saquon Barkley, A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert (knee) also candidates to sit out, McKee's likely targets in the spot start will include WRs Jahan Dotson, Darius Cooper and Britain Covey, TEs Grant Calcaterra, Kylen Granson and Cameron Latu and RBs Tank Bigsby, Will Shipley and AJ Dillon.

Eagles' Tanner McKee: Expected to start Week 18
McKee is expected to start Sunday's game against the Commanders, according to ESPN's Tim McManus.
Eagles coach Nick Sirianni hasn't publicly disclosed his plans, but he hinted Wednesday that he'll do so after discussing everything with the team. Multiple reports suggest that Sirianni will hold out QB Jalen Hurts and other starters.

Eagles' Tanner McKee: Plays late in Week 15 blowout
McKee rushed once for nine yards and completed all three of his pass attempts for 33 yards in Sunday's 31-0 win over the Raiders.
With the Eagles building a comfortable lead by the early part of the fourth quarter, head coach Nick Sirianni opted to hold Jalen Hurts out for the final possession of the afternoon and turned over the offense to McKee. The backup signal-caller proceeded to lead a 17-play drive that chewed up 11:22 of game time but ultimately stalled out deep in Raiders territory on a failed 4th-and-goal run by Tank Bigsby. The appearance was just the second of the campaign for McKee, who is unlikely to get extended run over the final three games of the regular season unless Hurts misses time due to injury or is rested in Week 18 if the Eagles' playoff positioning is secure.

Eagles' Tanner McKee: Limited again to open Week 4
McKee (thumb) participated in practice in a limited capacity Wednesday.
McKee has now been limited in each of the Eagles' past three practice sessions dating back to last week. He's yet to be active on gameday this season but has served as the emergency third QB each of the past two weeks. McKee seems to be trending in the right direction and could be active as Jalen Hurts' backup as soon as this Sunday versus Tampa Bay.

Eagles' Tanner McKee: Working as emergency QB in Week 3
McKee (thumb) is inactive but is serving as the Eagles' emergency third quarterback Sunday against the Rams, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
McKee continues to work his way back from surgery on a fractured right thumb and is serving as Philly's emergency third QB for the second straight week. Until he's advanced enough in his recovery, Sam Howell will likely continue to get the gameday nod as the backup quarterback behind Jalen Hurts.
