  • Buccaneers' Kameron Johnson: Week 7 Waiver Priority List

The Buccaneers have a receiver problem with Chris Godwin (leg) not expected to play in Week 7 at Detroit, and Emeka Egbuka (hamstring) could also be out. Mike Evans (hamstring) could return from a three-game absence, but there's no guarantee that happens against the Lions. Baker Mayfield's top three receivers could be Kameron Johnson, Sterling Shepard (9 percent rostered) and Tez Johnson (3 percent), and all three are worth a look off the waiver wire this week in what could be a high-scoring game against Detroit. Against the 49ers in Week 6 with Godwin and Evans out and Egbuka injured, Kameron Johnson stepped up with four catches for 64 yards and a touchdown on four targets. Shepard had two catches for 51 yards on three targets. And Tez Johnson had one catch for 45 yards and a touchdown on three targets. This is the order I would add them, but only for up to 5 percent of your remaining FAB. If Evans is back then I wouldn't trust any of these guys, but all three could be in a big spot due to the injuries.

  • Buccaneers' Kameron Johnson: Big day on returns vs. Eagles

Johnson returned two kickoffs for 42 yards and ran back six punts for 100 yards during the Buccaneers' 31-25 loss to the Eagles in Week 4. Johnson logged six snaps from scrimmage without a target, but he made a significant impact in his special-teams role. The second-year wideout has averaged a modest 21.0 yards per kickoff return, but he's now up to 15.9 yards per punt runback after an impressive 46-yard return early in the third quarter. Johnson would likely need multiple injuries at receiver to make an impact on offense, but he has the talent to develop into a consistent weapon on returns.

  • Buccaneers' Kameron Johnson: Three returns in Week 2 win

Johnson ran back two kickoffs for 42 yards and returned one punt for six yards during the Buccaneers' 20-19 win over the Texans on Monday night. Johnson did get in on seven snaps from scrimmage but wasn't targeted. Johnson notably added kickoff-return duty in Week 2 after exclusively fielding punts in Week 1, while No. 3 running back Sean Tucker, who'd handled all three kickoffs in the Week 1 win over the Falcons, was in on just one Monday night.

  • Buccaneers' Kameron Johnson: Flashes on one punt return

Johnson logged one snap on offense and didn't draw a target in the Buccaneers' 23-20 win over the Falcons on Sunday, but he returned one punt for 54 yards. Johnson wasn't expected to have a role on offense, but his chunk play on special teams set up the Buccaneers at the Falcons' 32-yard line early in the third quarter. Tampa Bay would go on to score five plays later on a nine-yard touchdown pass from Baker Mayfield to Bucky Irving, making Johnson's impressive return an integral play in the narrow victory. Johnson will remain the Buccaneers' punt returner in a Week 2 road matchup against the Texans, and he could begin carving out some snaps on offense as the season unfolds.

  • Buccaneers' Kameron Johnson: Two catches in preseason loss

Johnson (undisclosed) caught two of five targets for 34 yards in Saturday's 23-19 preseason loss to the Bills. Johnson had been sidelined with an undisclosed injury at practice, but he was able to make his return to action in the team's final preseason contest, playing 31 offensive snaps and 10 on special teams. The wide receiver also added two punt returns for 27 yards and a kick return for 57 yards in the victory. It's unclear if Johnson has proven enough to secure a spot on Tampa Bay's initial 53-man roster.

  • Buccaneers' Kameron Johnson: Activated off injured reserve

The Buccaneers activated Johnson (ankle) from injured reserve Saturday, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports. Johnson has been on injured reserve since Oct. 21 due to an ankle injury that he aggravated against the Falcons in Week 5. He's been a full participant in practice over the last two weeks, and his activation off IR indicates that he should be able to suit up against the Panthers on Sunday, though he is still listed as questionable. Johnson will provide depth at wide receiver and gives the Buccaneers another return option for kickoffs and punts.

  • Buccaneers' Kameron Johnson: Missing Week 16

Johnson (ankle) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Cowboys, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Despite a full week of practice, Johnson will remain on injured reserve and be held out of the Buccaneers' Week 16 contest. His practice window was opened Dec. 12, giving Tampa Bay until Jan. 2 to activate him to its active roster. Expect Johnson to serve as a depth piece in the Bucs' wide receiver room when he returns from injury.

  • Buccaneers' Kameron Johnson: DNP Thursday

Johnson (ankle) was a non-participant at Thursday's practice, Johnson is looking to return from a one-game absence due to an ankle injury, but his absence from Thursday's practice is not a good start to the week. Still, he will have an extra day to recover, as the Buccaneers do not play until Monday against the Cardinals. The rookie pass catcher has seen the field for 38 offensive plays across four games and drawn one target.

  • Buccaneers' Kameron Johnson: Misses practice

Johnson (ankle) did not participate at the Buccaneers' practice Thursday, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports. Johnson opened the week as a limited participant at practice following an ankle injury he suffered in Week 5 versus Atlanta. The wide receiver's inability to practice Thursday is concerning, and if he isn't able to return to the field Friday, he'll likely miss Sunday's matchup with the Saints.

  • Buccaneers' Kameron Johnson: Ready to rock

Johnson (ankle) has no injury designation ahead of Thursday night's matchup against the Falcons, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports. After logging a full practice session Wednesday, Johnson has moved past his ankle issue enough to suit up for Thursday night's divisional matchup. Expect the Barton College product to serve as a depth piece in Tampa Bay's wide receiver corps while also contributing on special teams in Week 5.

  • Buccaneers' Kameron Johnson: Limited on Monday's estimation

Johnson (ankle) was listed as a limited participant on Monday's practice estimation. Johnson missed Tampa Bay's Week 3 loss to the Broncos with an ankle injury, but he was able to play through the issue in Week 4, logging 28 total snaps (23 offensive and five on special teams) while failing to haul in his lone target. Unless the 22-year-old's practice participation downgrades to a DNP either Tuesday or Wednesday, he's expected to suit up Thursday night against the Falcons.

  • Buccaneers' Kameron Johnson: Doubtful for Week 3

Johnson (ankle) did not practice Friday and is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against Denver, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports. Johnson opened the week as a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, but he was a DNP Thursday and Friday, and he is not expected to play Sunday. The Bucs could call up a wide receiver from the practice squad such as Sterling Shepard, Cody Thompson or Ryan Miller in anticipation of Johnson being inactive for Week 3.

  • Buccaneers' Kameron Johnson: Five touches in preseason debut

Johnson brought in three of five targets for 12 yards and rushed twice for 13 yards in the Buccaneers' 24-14 preseason win over the Dolphins on Friday night. The Barton College product overcame a multi-week rib injury just in time to participate in the final preseason game, and while he didn't do anything spectacular with his touches, Johnson was kept busy during his time in the game. The undrafted rookie had impressed throughout the offseason and early in training camp, so he may have a good shot at sticking on the practice squad come final cutdowns.

  • Buccaneers' Kameron Johnson: Could return Friday

Head coach Todd Bowles told reporters Monday that Johnson (ribs) is trending towards playing during Friday's preseason matchup with the Dolphins, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports. The undrafted rookie out of Barton College has been dealing with a ribs injury over the last week, and it now appears that he could return to the field Friday. Johnson has been competing for Tampa Bay's top kick- and punt-returner job since signing with the team in May, but he likely has only an outside chance of making the Buccaneers' 53-man roster.

  • Buccaneers' Kameron Johnson: Struggling with rib injury

Johnson (ribs) participated in limited fashion in Monday's practice, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports. The undrafted rookie did not play in Saturday's preseason-opening win over the Bengals and is not yet able to participate in practices without restriction. Johnson had impressed teammates and coaches since arriving in May, but unless he can get on the field for at least one of the final two preseason games, it may be difficult for the Barton College product to even garner a practice-squad spot.
