  • Saints' Charlie Smyth: Set to be signed to active roster

Smyth is expected to be signed to the Saints' active roster this week, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports. Smyth has been elevated from the practice squad to serve as the team's starting kicker each of the last three weeks, going 4-for-5 on field-goal attempts, including a 56-yard make. The 24-year-old has now exhausted all three of his elevations and in order to appear in another contest, the team will have to officially sign him to the active roster, which head coach Kellen Moore stated is coming in the near future.

  • Saints' Charlie Smyth: Placed back on practice squad

The Saints reverted Smyth to their practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. Smyth has been New Orleans' kicker three straight weeks and has performed well, making four of five field-goal attempts and all five of his extra-point tries. It seems likely that he'll kick again for the team in Week 16 versus the Jets, but he's out of elevations, so the Saints would need to sign Smyth to their active roster in order for him to be active on gameday. If New Orleans decides against doing so, Cade York -- who is currently on the club's practice squad -- would likely get an opportunity.

  • Saints' Charlie Smyth: Converts game-winning kick

Smyth went 2-for-2 on field-goal attempts and made both of his PATs in Sunday's 20-17 win over the Panthers. Smyth was elevated from the practice squad to serve as the Saints' starting kicker for the third straight week, making field goals from 42 and 47 yards in the second half, the latter of which gave New Orleans the lead with two seconds left in regulation. The rookie has now gone 4-for-5 on field-goal tries, including a successful 56-yarder, over three contests with the Saints this season.

  • Saints' Charlie Smyth: Moved up to active roster again

New Orleans elevated Smyth from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports. Smyth will serve as the Saints' kicker for the third week in a row. The 24-year-old went 2-for-3 on field-goal tries while knocking through all three of his PATs across the last two games. Since this is Smyth's third practice-squad elevation with the Saints, he'll now have to be signed to the active roster if he's going to play for the team beyond Sunday's contest against the Panthers.

  • Saints' Charlie Smyth: Returns to practice squad

Smyth reverted to the Saints' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log. Smyth was elevated for the second week in a row, going 1-for-2 on field-goal attempts while making all three of his PATs in Sunday's 24-20 victory over the Buccaneers. The kicker will have a good shot to added to the active roster again in Week 15 versus the Panthers.

  • Saints' Charlie Smyth: Back on active roster

The Saints elevated Smyth from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday ahead of Sunday's game at Tampa Bay. In his Saints debut last Sunday in Miami, Smyth connected on his only kick, a 56-yard field-goal attempt. Coach Kellen Moore told Jeff Nowak of WWL New Orleans on Wednesday that Smyth was expected to handle placekicking duties again in Week 14 over fellow practice-squad member Cade York, which now is official.

  • Saints' Charlie Smyth: Expected to kick again Week 14

Smyth is likely to be New Orleans' placekicker Sunday in Tampa Bay, Jeff Nowak of Audacy Sports reports. Smyth kicked for the Saints this past Sunday against Miami and made his lone field-goal try -- a 56-yarder. He also helped New Orleans get the ball back late with a successful onside kick. Smyth was placed back on the Saints' practice squad Monday, but that move was almost certainly procedural, as he did more than enough to earn another elevation for Sunday's Week 14 matchup.

  • Saints' Charlie Smyth: Elevated from PS, kicking Week 13

The Saints elevated Smyth from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, and he will serve as the team's kicker Sunday against the Dolphins. Smyth competed with Cade York for the kicking job during Week 13 prep after the Saints waived Blake Grupe. Smyth has won that battle, and the Northern Ireland native -- who joined New Orleans in late March as a qualifying international player -- will make his NFL debut Sunday.

  • Charlie Smyth: Back healthy

Smyth (groin) signed with the Saints' practice squad Wednesday. The kicker was waived by the team Tuesday. Smyth's groin injury caused him to miss the Saints' preseason game against the Titans on Sunday. Blake Grupe kicked in that game and ended up as the kicker on the team's depth chart.

  • Saints' Charlie Smyth: Hits game-winner in preseason debut

Smyth converted his lone field-goal atttempt during Saturday's 16-14 victory over Arizona. Smyth got his first and only chance for a field goal with eight seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, and he did not disappoint, hitting a 37-yarder to seal the victory for New Orleans. The 22-year-old first got on the field for the opening kickoff of the second half, as returning starter Blake Grupe handled the kicking duties in the first half. However, Grupe did step back in for the team's only point-after attempt of the second half, and he went 2-for-2 on field-goal tries for the game. Smyth joined New Orleans through the NFL's International Player Pathway by way of Ireland, and he's likely still considered a longshot to unseat Grupe as the Saints' starting kicker this preseason. His next opportunity will come in Sunday's road contest against the 49ers.
