Ezekiel Turner: Gets let go
Turner was released by the 49ers on Wednesday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Turner signed a one-year contract with San Francisco in March after spending the first six seasons of his career in Arizona. The Washington product has primarily been a special teams contributor during that time. In a corresponding move, the 49ers signed defensive tackle Nick Williams, because Kalia Davis is expected to undergo knee surgery.

49ers' Ezekiel Turner: Staying in NFC West
Turner signed a one-year contract with the 49ers on Saturday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Turner spent his first six professional seasons with Arizona, and he'll stay in the division with his move to San Francisco. The 27-year-old has primarily been a special-teamer throughout his career, and he logged just 47 defensive snaps to 344 special-teams snaps last season. Turner figures to fill a similar role with the 49ers in the upcoming campaign.

Turner recorded 10 tackles (four solo) in a Week 4 loss to San Francisco on Sunday. He added two yards on one carry on offense.
With Josh Woods (ankle) missing a third straight game, Turner stepped into a starting role, logging a season-high 69 percent of Arizona's defensive snaps. He did well with the opportunity, pacing Arizona in stops and even picking up a first down with a two-yard rush on a fake punt in the second quarter. Turner could get another start Sunday in Cincinnati if Woods is forced to miss another contest.

Turner made just five appearances in 2021 because of injuries and registered six total defensive snaps, though he continued to be a core piece for Arizona's special teams unit. The Cardinals returned Turner (shoulder) to the active roster ahead of Monday night's matchup against the Rams, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Turner, who was designated to return from injured reserve in Week 17, had until this coming Wednesday to return to the active roster within the 21-day practice window. The linebacker saw very little action on defense (five total defensive snaps) before sustaining a shoulder injury in Week 5, but he played 20 or more special-teams snaps in the team's first four games and could play a prominent role in this phase going forward.
