Chad Beebe: Cut by Texans
Beebe was released by Houston on Monday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.
Beebe landed with the Texans in June after sitting out the entirety of last season due to a foot injury. The fifth-year wideout recorded a career-high 20 catches for 201 yards and two touchdowns over 14 games with Minnesota in 2020, and he will now look to carve out a role elsewhere this preseason.

Texans' Chad Beebe: Signed by Texans
Beebe signed a contract with the Texans on Wednesday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
After missing the entirety of the 2021 season with a foot injury, Beebe has joined the Texans ahead of their training camp next month. He last played in the NFL in 2020, turning 20 receptions into 201 yards and two touchdowns in 14 games with the Vikings.

Vikings' Chad Beebe: Moves to IR
Beebe (foot) reverted to the Vikings' injured reserve Wednesday.
Beebe will require surgery to address a left foot injury, a development that prompted the Vikings to waive him Tuesday with an injury designation. Once the procedure is behind him, he'll focus on his recovery, which is expected to last a number of months, per Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com. With Beebe sidelined, Minnesota will entrust sporadic No. 3 wideout reps to K.J. Osborn, Dede Westbrook (knee), Ihmir Smith-Marsette and Dan Chisena.

Chad Beebe: Cut with injury designation
Beebe (foot) was waived/injured by the Vikings on Tuesday.
Assuming he clears waivers, Beebe will revert to injured reserve, which is where he'll reside for the next few months following an upcoming surgery on his foot. The Vikings will rely on some combination of Ihmir Smith-Marsette, Dede Westbrook and K.J. Osborn to cover the No. 3 receiver spot behind Justin Jefferson (shoulder) and Adam Thielen (thigh).

Beebe was competing with Ihmir Smith-Marsette and K.J. Osborn as a fringe wideout with returner capabilities, but his latest injury will most likely end the competition. The 27-year-old appeared in 14 contests with the Vikings last year, catching 20 passes for 201 yards and two touchdowns.

Beebe had two receptions for 23 yards in Friday's preseason loss at Kansas City.
Beebe appeared to have fallen behind in the competition for the third receiver role with K.J. Osborn having a strong preseason. However, it was Beebe getting time with the first-team offense Friday. A St. Paul Pioneer Press report on Thursday also speculated Beebe may be the leading third-receiver candidate as well. Nevertheless, Dede Westbrook (knee) ultimately may win the No. 3 job when he gains full clearance from the torn ACL he sustained in 2020. The third receiver role for the Vikings could be in flux early in the regular season and we may not know who will get the most snaps before a Week 1 matchup against the Bengals.

Beebe had two receptions on four targets for 47 yards in Saturday's preseason loss to Indianapolis.
Beebe appears to have fallen behind in the competition for the third receiver role with K.J. Osborn seen having a strong training camp and getting work with the starting offense Saturday over Beebe. The third receiver role remains uncertain, as Dede Westbrook (knee) may ultimately win the job when he gains full clearance from the torn ACL he sustained in 2020. Still, Beebe's strong showing Saturday will keep him in the mix.

Vikings' Chad Beebe: Competing for No. 3 role
Coach Mike Zimmer said Beebe has done a nice job competing for the No. 3 receiver role in training camp, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Beebe is the incumbent, but that isn't necessarily a big advantage after he caught only 20 passes for 201 yards and two TDs in 14 games last season. Granted, he played only 314 snaps, with Minnesota using 11 personnel on a league-low 29 percent of plays. The team could use more three-wide sets after losing Kyle Rudolph in the offseason, though backup TE Tyler Conklin filled in capably last year. Beebe is competing with Dede Westbrook and fifth-round rookie Ihmir Smith-Marsette, while Bisi Johnson bowed out of the competition with an ACL tear at the end of July.

Vikings' Chad Beebe: Pens minimum deal
Beebe re-signed Wednesday with the Vikings on a one-year, $920,000 contract, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Beebe would have been owed $2.1 million had the Vikings tendered him, so the team will save over $1 million against the cap by getting him back on a minimum deal. Behind Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen, there probably isn't room for another fantasy-relevant wideout to emerge in Minnesota, but Beebe has proven to be a reliable depth piece.

The Vikings won't place a tender on Beebe, allowing him to hit free agency, Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Beebe proved capable of significant playing time as a backup wideout in his third NFL season, and the Vikings reportedly want to bring him back in a similar role for 2021. However, the lowest possible tender Minnesota could hand Beebe would be worth $2.1 million, a price which the team evidently wants driven down. That leaves Beebe on track to hit the open market Wednesday afternoon.

In his third year with the Vikings, Beebe emerged as a capable backup and achieved career highs in receptions, targets, yards, touchdowns and appearances. This was the first season the 26-year-old was a regular on offense, but it remains to be seen if Minnesota will retain the upcoming restricted free agent.
