  • Commanders' Frankie Luvu: Will no longer be suspended

Luvu had his one-game suspension reduced by the NFL to a $100,000 fine Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. The league had originally handed Luvu a one-game suspension for "repeated violations of playing rules intended to protect the health and safety of players," which was tied to the multiple illegal hip-drop tackles he has performed this season. Luvu elected to appeal the punishment, and, upon further consideration, the suspension has been reduced to a fine. That means Luvu will be able to suit up in Week 10 against Detroit, and he should take on his usual starting role that has led to the linebacker playing every defensive snap in five of Washington's nine games so far this season.

  • Commanders' Frankie Luvu: Served one-game suspension

The NFL has suspended Luvu for one game for "repeated violations of playing rules intended to protect the health and safety of players," Brian McCarthy of NFL.com reports. Luvu has been cited by the league for doing the banned hip-drop tackle three times this season, one of which occurred during Sunday's 38-14 loss to the Seahawks. He was fined for the two prior incidents before being suspended by the league Monday, but the veteran linebacker intends to appeal the suspension, per Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post. If Luvu's suspension is upheld, then Jordan Magee and Jacob Martin would be the top candidates to start against the Lions in Week 10.

  • Commanders' Frankie Luvu: Limited in Thursday's practice

Luvu (shoulder) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice. Luvu injured his shoulder during the Commanders' regular-season finale against the Cowboys, but that hasn't limited him in Washington's first two playoff games. His injury designation Thursday is likely out of precaution and to lower the risk of aggravating the injury heading into Sunday's NFC Championship Game against Philadelphia. Luvu has registered 13 tackles (eight solo) and one fumble recovery through the Commanders' two playoff games.
