The Dolphins placed Louis (knee) on injured reserve Wednesday.

Dolphins' Kyle Louis: Will miss multiple weeks
Louis (knee) will miss a few weeks after exiting Sunday's 27-13 loss to the Raiders early, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Tuesday.
Louis suffered an MCL sprain, and the strong safety will not be able to return to the Dolphins for the Week 2 matchup against the 49ers. The fourth-round rookie was set to be a key piece on both the defensive and special teams units for the Dolphins. In Louis' absence, Julius Wood may be expected to cover some of the young players' responsibilities.

Louis (knee) is expected to miss the Dolphins' Week 2 matchup against the 49ers, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Louis suffered a knee injury in Sunday's 27-13 loss to the Raiders, and he will now be sidelined for at least one contest moving forward. The rookie logged three snaps on defense and 14 snaps with the special-teams unit before his departure in Week 1, and his absence will likely have little impact on the team's defensive approach versus San Francisco.

Dolphins' Kyle Louis: Heads to Miami
The Dolphins selected Louis in the fourth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, 138th overall.
The Dolphins took a linebacker for the second time this draft, as they previously scooped Jacob Rodriguez out of Texas Tech at pick No. 43. Louis is an interesting prospect. He's quite small for an NFL linebacker at 6-foot, 220 pounds, but he's a fantastic athlete with a 4.53 40-yard dash and a 39.5-inch vertical jump. Louis showcased impressive range in college at Pittsburgh, piling up stats at both linebacker and in coverage. Over his final two seasons, he generated 182 tackles, 24.0 tackles for loss, 10.0 sacks, 12 pass breakups and six interceptions. Louis isn't expected to line up in the box on every snap in the NFL because of his size, but he's a fluid player who rarely missed tackles in college. Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley likely has a vision for Louis as a versatile defender.
