Eagles' Jaydon Blue: Catches one pass in 2026 debut
Blue caught his lone target for nine yards in Sunday night's 27-10 loss to the Commanders.
It was the running back's first action of the regular season after he was signed to the active roster last week. Blue logged eight offensive snaps and sits behind Saquon Barkley and Elijah Mitchell on the depth chart. With Tank Bigsby (abdomen) likely due back in the near future, Blue's stay on the 53-man roster could be short.

Eagles' Jaydon Blue: Joins active roster
The Eagles signed Blue from the practice squad to the active roster Wednesday.
Yet another Eagles RB landed on IR on Wednesday, with Dameon Pierce (undisclosed) joining Tank Bigsby (abdomen) and Will Shipley (foot). Blue thus was called up as a reinforcement and could be in line for a decent amount of work right away with Saquon Barkley (back) dealing with another health concern. Blue hasn't played in 2026 but turned 38 carries into 129 yards and one touchdown to go with one catch (on one target) for five yards in five appearances as a rookie fifth-rounder for the Cowboys last season.

Blue was waived by Philadelphia on Tuesday, but he has now returned as a member of the team's practice unit. The running back was active for the team's Week 6 loss to the Panthers, but he did not appear in the contest. Blue will now look to earn an elevation to the active roster again this season.

Blue was signed to the Eagles' active roster ahead of Week 6, but the running back did not appear in the team's loss. Dameon Pierce handled all 12 of the team's carries and caught four of five targets for 15 yards while operating as the team's primary option in the backfield. A fifth-round pick of the Cowboys in 2025, Blue got some run as a rookie with 38 carries for 129 yards (3.4 YPC) and one touchdown in five regular-season appearances, although most of that production came in Week 18. Dallas opted to waive him Sunday and then didn't re-sign him to the practice squad, allowing the team's NFC East rivals to swoop in. Blue will be a candidate for elevation if any of Saquon Barkley, Tank Bigsby or Will Shipley get injured.

Blue (shoulder) rushed 15 times for 75 yards in the Cowboys' 34-13 preseason win over the Cardinals on Saturday. He also returned one kickoff for 26 yards.
Blue shook off the shoulder issue that had led to a pair of absences and limited participation in the last three practices prior to Saturday's game, leading the Cowboys in rush attempts and rushing yards on the night. Blue has seen 25 total touches over the first two preseason games as head coach Brian Schottenheimer gives the second-year back a long look in the competition for the No. 2 running back role. While Blue's performance Saturday was certainly impressive, fellow backs Malik Davis and Phil Mafah also had some standout plays, and the competition therefore may remain unsettled until the conclusion of Friday's home preseason finale against the Saints.
