  • Saints' Anthony Johnson: Passes physical, off PUP list

Johnson (undisclosed) passed his physical and has been removed from the active/PUP list, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Johnson was sidelined to start camp due to an undisclosed injury, but he's back to full strength and should return to practice soon. The rookie undrafted free agent out of Virginia will presumably compete for a depth role at cornerback, so he should get plenty of action during the preseason.

  • Saints' Anthony Johnson: Lands on active/PUP list

The Saints have placed Johnson on their active/PUP list ahead of training camp due to an undisclosed injury.

Johnson signed with New Orleans as an undrafted free agent during the offseason. He played with both Virginia and Louisville during his collegiate career and accumulated 138 tackles (94 solo), seven interceptions, and three forced fumbles across 55 games. He is competing for a depth role at cornerback, so a quick return from the active/PUP list would be advantageous.

  • Anthony Johnson: Set to join New Orleans

Johnson is expected to sign with the Saints as an undrafted free agent, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.

Johnson is a Virginia cornerback who offers plus size (6-foot-2, 205 pounds) and reach (32 and 5/8-inch arms) but is lacking in athleticism otherwise. He logged a 4.63-second 40 at the combine to go with bad jumps (30.5-inch vertical, 116-inch broad jump), raising the concern that he might need to move to safety in the NFL.

  • Packers' Anthony Johnson: Green Bay adds corner depth

The Packers selected Johnson in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft, 242nd overall.

Johnson -- not to be confused with the 2023 Iowa State cornerback prospect with the same name -- is a Virginia cornerback who offers plus size (6-foot-2, 205 pounds) and reach (32 and 5/8-inch arms) but is lacking in athleticism otherwise. Johnson logged a 4.63-second 40 at the combine to go with bad jumps (30.5-inch vertical, 116-inch broad jump), raising the concern that he might need to move to safety.
