  • 49ers' Jason Pinnock: Still working through heel issue

Pinnock (heel) was limited to individual drills during Tuesday's training camp practice, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports. Pinnock sat out the 49ers' second preseason game Saturday due to a lingering heel injury, and it's still bothering him ahead of Saturday's preseason contest versus the Chargers. As long as he remains sidelined during team drills, rookie fifth-rounder Marques Sigle figures to see increased activity.

  • 49ers' Jason Pinnock: Sidelined Saturday

Pinnock (heel) will not play against Las Vegas on Saturday, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports. Pinnock was limited in practice this past week while working through a heel injury, and he'll be in street clothes Saturday to avoid aggravating the issue. Siran Neal and Derrick Canteen should see a heavy dose of snaps at safety due to the absences of Pinnock and Malik Mustapha (knee).

  • 49ers' Jason Pinnock: Dealing with heel issue

Head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters Thursday that Pinnock is working through a heel injury, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports. Pinnock played 11 defensive snaps during the 49ers' preseason opener against the Broncos this past Saturday and finished with one solo tackle. He's been limited to individual drills over the past week, and the 49ers may play things safe by holding the fifth-year safety out of Saturday's exhibition contest against the Raiders. Siran Neal, Derrick Canteen and Jaylen Mahoney are poised to see a significant number of defensive snaps at safety due to injuries to Pinnock and several other players in San Francisco's secondary.

  • 49ers' Jason Pinnock: Heading to San Francisco

Pinnock is slated to sign a one-year contract with the 49ers, Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports reports. Pinnock started in all 16 regular-season games he played in 2024 for the Giants and finished with 85 tackles (50 solo), including a career-high 3.0 sacks, and one pass defense. The 2021 fifth-round pick will use offseason programs and training camp to compete against Malik Mustapha (knee) and Ji'Ayir Brown for a starting spot at safety.

  • Giants' Jason Pinnock: Finishes season with 85 stops

Pinnock tallied 85 tackles (50 solo), including 3.0 sacks, along with one defensed pass over 16 games during the 2024 regular season. For the second straight season, Pinnock started in all 16 games in which he played and logged exactly 85 tackles. The fourth-year safety recorded 3.0 sacks over the season's first three weeks to establish a career-high mark in that category, but he didn't record another sack the rest of the campaign. Pinnock also had no interceptions this season after picking off two passes -- and returning one for a pick-six -- last year. He'll be a free agent upon the conclusion of the season and could be an attractive option for teams looking for help at the safety position after two straight years of consistent, though mostly quiet, production.

  • Giants' Jason Pinnock: Reaches double-digit stops Sunday

Pinnock notched 10 tackles (seven solo) Sunday in a 45-33 Week 17 win over the Colts. Pinnock ranked second on New York in tackles behind Ty Summers (11). The fourth-year safety's 10 stops were a season-high mark. Pinnock has been productive with 18 tackles over the past two weeks.

  • Giants' Jason Pinnock: Questionable for Week 10

Pinnock (abdomen) is questionable for Sunday's game versus Carolina, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports. Pinnock was added to the Giants' injury report Thursday, and he was unable to practice Friday. Anthony Johnson and Dane Belton would be next in line for safety snaps alongside Tyler Nubin if Pinnock is unable to play in Germany.

  • Giants' Jason Pinnock: Past knee injury

Pinnock (knee) was left off the Giants' injury report Wednesday. Pinnock sustained a knee injury in the Giants' Week 6 loss to the Bengals, but his omission from Wednesday's injury report suggests he's already moved past the issue. The Pittsburgh product has recorded 28 total tackles, including 3.0 sacks, and defended one pass across the Giants' first six games. He's expected to start alongside Tyler Nubin in New York's secondary in Week 7, when the Giants host the Eagles.

  • Giants' Jason Pinnock: Posts another sack

Pinnock recorded seven tackles (two solo), including 1.0 sacks, in a 21-15 victory versus the Browns on Sunday. Pinnock's sack came early in the third quarter and pushed Cleveland back five yards on third down, which may have been a factor in Dustin Hopkins missing a 53-yard field-goal try on the next play. Pinnock has already set a career high with three sacks this season, exceeding last year's total of two. The safety had only two tackles in Week 1 against Minnesota but has recorded 16 total tackles across two contests since.

  • Giants' Jason Pinnock: Records two sacks Sunday

Pinnock registered nine tackles (eight solo), including 2.0 sacks, against Washington in Sunday's Week 2 loss. Pinnock's pair of sacks Sunday equaled the amount he tallied over 16 games and 976 defensive snaps last season. Both takedowns came as a result of Jayden Daniels trying to run rather than throw the ball away while under pressure, so it's probably not wise to assume Pinnock will have many performances like Sunday's. Still, the sacks look good on the stat sheet, as do Pinnock's nine total stops -- last season, he reached that mark only twice.

  • Giants' Jason Pinnock: Active at OTAs

Pinnock (toe) is participating at the Giants' OTAs, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports. Pinnock was placed on injured reserve with a toe injury prior to Week 18 last season. He registered career highs across the board prior to the injury with 85 tackles (59 solo), including 2.0 sacks, six passes defended and two interceptions. The 24-year-old projects to compete with rookie second-round pick Tyler Nubin for reps at free safety in the upcoming season.

  • Giants' Jason Pinnock: Heads to IR

The Giants placed Pinnock (toe) on the injured reserve list Saturday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. Pinnock sustained a toe injury in Week 17 against the Rams. He was ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Eagles on Friday and was placed on IR one day later. In his third year in the NFL, Pinnock registered career highs with 85 tackles (59 solo), including 2.0 sacks, six passes defended and two interceptions while adding two forced fumbles and a defensive touchdown over 16 games.

  • Giants' Jason Pinnock: Unavailable Wednesday

Pinnock (toe) was considered to be a nonparticipant at the Giants' walk-through Wednesday. Pinnock suffered a toe injury in New York's narrow loss to the Rams in Week 17, forcing him to exit the contest in the first quarter, so his absence Wednesday isn't a major surprise. The safety will have two more chances to practice this week ahead of the Giants' final contest of the year Sunday versus the Eagles.

  • Giants' Jason Pinnock: X-rays clear on foot

Charlotte Carroll of The Athletic reports that Pinnock was seen wearing a walking boot following Sunday's 26-25 loss to the Rams, and the safety told reporters after the game that X-rays came back clear. Pinnock sustained the foot injury in the first quarter and did not return to the contest. He'll have an MRI on Monday to determine the severity of the issue but told reporters that he was feeling alright. Pinnock finished Sunday's contest with two tackles.

  • Giants' Jason Pinnock: Secures team's lone sack Week 15

Pinnock recorded eight tackles (seven solo), including a sack, in Sunday's loss to the Saints. Pinnock tied for the team lead in stops, with one of his tackles being a sack of Derek Carr in the second quarter. It was the safety's second sack of the season and New York's only sack of the contest. Through 14 games, Pinnock has tallied a career-high 77 stops (54 solo) along with a forced fumble and two interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown.

  • Giants' Jason Pinnock: Picks off Love in Week 14

Pinnock logged four total tackles (all solo), two pass deflections and one interception in Monday night's 24-22 win over the Packers. The 24-year-old intercepted a Jordan Love deep ball down the left sideline late in the second-quarter, giving New York its second takeaway of the first-half. Pinnock's second pick of the year tied him for the Giants' leader on the season, and he's now fourth on the team in pass deflections as well (six total). Expect the Pittsburgh product to continue causing problems for opposing quarterbacks as the year goes on.

  • Giants' Jason Pinnock: Returning to New York with team

Pinnock (abdomen) was taken to a local hospital after exiting Sunday's wild-card win over the Vikings but will fly back to New York with the team, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports. Pinnock was carted off the field in the fourth quarter of Sunday's matchup, but it's encouraging that he'll be able to travel with the team after being examined at a local hospital. However, his status for the NFC divisional round against the Eagles isn't yet known.

  • Giants' Jason Pinnock: Suffers shoulder injury

Pinnock departed Sunday's game in Philadelphia due to a shoulder injury, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports. Before he picked up the health concern in the third quarter, Pinnock tallied four tackles. The safety/special teamer will yield reps to some combination of Dane Belton, Landon Collins and Tony Jefferson alongside Xavier McKinney.

  • Giants' Jason Pinnock: Career-high nine tackles in loss

Pinnock totaled nine tackles (eight solo) in Sunday's 48-22 loss to the Eagles. It was a busy tackling day for the Giants' safeties, as Philadelphia consistently got into the second level on the ground, averaging 8.2 yards per carry on 31 attempts. Pinnock set a new single-game career high for tackles while notching at least five for only the second time this season.

  • Giants' Jason Pinnock: Shines with increased opportunity

Pinnock tallied four tackles (three solo) and was credited with 1.5 sacks Sunday in a Week 10 win over the Texans. Pinnock came into Week 10 having played almost entirely on special teams over his five contests, but he was thrust into a larger role after Xavier McKinney was placed on IR with a hand injury. Pinnock made his presence felt early in the contest, splitting a sack with Dexter Lawrence on Houston's first offensive series. He added a full sack with under a minute left in the contest and logged two solo tackles in between. Pinnock's contributions in the win should earn him continued opportunities moving forward, especially while McKinney remains out.
