Cardinals' Joey Blount: Participating in training camp
Blount (neck/concussion) was an active participant in Tuesday's training camp practice, per Ross D. Franklin of the Associated Press.
Blount suffered a season-ending neck injury during the Cardinals' Week 1 game against the Saints in 2025, but he has recovered from the injury and is battling for a roster spot in training camp. If Blount does make the 53-man roster, then he'll likely be limited to work on special teams while providing depth in the secondary.

Cardinals' Joey Blount: Done for the season
Head coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters Wednesday that Blount (neck/concussion) will be placed on injured reserve and miss the remainder of the season, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
Blount was originally ruled out for the remainder of Arizona's Week 1 win due to a concussion, but it now appears he also sustained a neck injury serious enough to end his 2025 campaign. The 27-year-old from Virginia has appeared in 27 games for the Cardinals over the past three seasons, recording 12 total tackles as a key special-teamer. With Blount out for the year, Kitan Crawford could see additional reps as a rotational safety as the season progresses.

Cardinals' Joey Blount: Officially on IR
The Cardinals placed Blount (neck/concussion) on injured reserve Wednesday, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.
Head coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters earlier Wednesday that Blount would miss the remainder the season due to a neck injury, so his move to IR comes as no surprise. Kitan Crawford will likely see increased snaps as a rotational safety and special-teamer while Blount remains sidelined.

Cardinals' Joey Blount: Enters concussion protocol
Blount (concussion) has been ruled out for the rest of Sunday's game against the Saints, Dani Sureck of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Blount appeared to take a hit to the head late in the second quarter on a kickoff return. He will not return Sunday, and he'll have to pass the league's five-step concussion protocol in order to play Week 2 against the Panthers on Sunday, Sept. 14.

Cardinals' Joey Blount: Four tackles versus KC
Blount (illness) recorded four total tackles (two solo) in Saturday's 20-17 preseason win over the Chiefs.
Blount was battling an illness ahead of the team's preseason opener, but he was ultimately active for the contest. The safety is expected to operate as a top reserve option behind Budda Baker, while also continuing to operate as a contributor on special teams in 2025.

Cardinals' Joey Blount: Dealing with illness
Blount was absent from practice Saturday due to illness, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Blount presumably won't be sidelined long with the issue, though there hasn't been any official word from the team. He's been a special teams contributor with the Cardinals for the last two seasons, and he's likely to retain a similar role in 2025.

Cardinals' Joey Blount: Gets new contract with Cardinals
Arizona signed Blount to a two-year contract Friday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.

Cardinals' Joey Blount: Placed on IR due to rib injury
The Cardinals placed Blount (ribs) on injured reserve Monday.
Blount suffered a rib injury during the Cardinals' overtime loss to the Panthers in Week 16, which forced him to be sidelined during Saturday's 13-9 loss to the Rams. His placement on IR will end his 2024 campaign but will also open up a spot on the Cardinals' 53-man roster for the regular-season finale against the 49ers on Sunday. Blount mostly served on special teams in 2024 and will finish his third NFL regular season with five tackles (three solo) across 15 games.

Cardinals' Joey Blount: Won't play against Rams
Head coach Jonathan Gannon said that Blount (ribs) won't play in Saturday's game against the Rams, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Blount was carted off the field after injuring his ribs during the Cardinals' 36-30 overtime loss to the Panthers this past Sunday. He's mostly served on special teams this season, so his absence won't impact the Cardinals' secondary rotation that much for Saturday's contest. Blount's next opportunity to play will come during Arizona's regular-season finale against San Francisco next weekend.

Cardinals' Joey Blount: Won't return against Carolina
Blount (ribs) has been ruled out for the rest of Sunday's game against the Panthers, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
Blount was carted off the field after suffering a rib injury on a kickoff and will not return to Sunday's game. He's primarily served on special teams this season so his absence won't affect the Cardinals' secondary all that much.

Cardinals' Joey Blount: Good to go for Week 7
Blount (hamstring) was a full participant in Friday's practice, Zach Gershman of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Blount suffered a hamstring injury in Week 6 against the Packers, but it doesn't appear to be serious since he has been a full practice participant this week. He has primarily played on special teams this year and has accumulated three tackles (one solo) through six regular-season games.

Cardinals' Joey Blount: Leaves game early
Blount (hamstring) has exited Sunday's game against the Packers, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Blount's exit shouldn't impact Arizona's secondary too much unless they suffer any more injuries there. The Virginia product typically only sees work on special teams, with just eight defensive snaps played this season coming into Week 6.

Cardinals' Joey Blount: Returning Week 13
Blount (knee) is active Sunday against the Steelers.
Blount has missed each of the team's last two games, but he'll return to the field against Pittsburgh. The Virginia product mainly contributes on special teams, but he'll bolster the team's depth at safety for the matchup, too.
