Elijah Mitchell: Let go from IR by Philadelphia
The Eagles released Mitchell (undisclosed) from injured reserve with an injury settlement Tuesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Mitchell was originally slated to miss the entire 2026 season after being placed on the Eagles' IR on Monday. However, with the injury settlement, the 2021 sixth-rounder will have the opportunity to sign with a team once he's fully healthy. Mitchell's lone appearance in the 2025 regular season with the Chiefs was against the Broncos in Week 7, when he failed to haul in his lone target while playing seven snaps on offense.

Eagles' Elijah Mitchell: Moved to IR
The Eagles placed Mitchell (undisclosed) on injured reserve Monday.
Mitchell signed with the Eagles in early June with designs on having him compete for a complementary role in the Eagles' backfield. Unfortunately, it appears Mitchell has suffered a significant setback, and the 28-year-old will spend the entirety of the 2026 season on injured reserve unless he is waived with an injury settlement. The Eagles signed running back Ja'Quinden Jackson in a corresponding move.

The Eagles signed Mitchell on Tuesday.
After trying out during Philadelphia's rookie camp earlier this spring, per Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia, Mitchell is getting a bigger chance as offseason workouts resume. There could be room for legitimate competition in the Eagles' backfield behind Saquon Barkley, as both Tank Bigsby and 2024 fourth-rounder Will Shipley are relatively unproven.

The 27-year-old from Louisiana signed a one-year deal worth up to $3.5 million with the Chiefs this past offseason but appeared in just one game prior to being waived. Mitchell has played in 28 regular-season games since being drafted in 2021, rushing for 1,523 yards and nine touchdowns. In a corresponding move, Kansas City signed Dameon Pierce to its active roster Saturday.
