Colts' Rigoberto Sanchez: Agrees to extension with Indy
The Colts are re-signing Sanchez to a three-year contract, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
Sanchez has served as the primary punter and kickoff specialist in Indianapolis since the start of the 2017 season, and it doesn't seem like he's eager to leave any time soon. He was solid in 2023, averaging 48.3 yards per punt.

Colts' Rigoberto Sanchez: Feeling 100 percent
Colts special teams coordinator Brian Mason told reporters Thursday that Sanchez (Achilles) is fully healthy again, Joel A. Erickson of The Indianapolis Star of the Indianapolis Star reports.
After suffering a torn Achilles weeks before the start of the 2022 NFL season, Sanchez has since had time to move past the issue. This will be his seventh year in Indianapolis after originally making the roster as an undrafted free agent. Expect Sanchez to immediately take over the punting and holding duties once again.

Sanchez (Achilles) didn't participate in the Colts' offseason practices, but he did do some punting on the rehab fields, Mike Chappell of FOX59 reports.
Sanchez tore his Achilles tendon last offseason while doing sprints and missed the entire 2022 campaign. His status for the start of 2023 remains unclear, but the Colts currently don't have another punter on their roster, suggesting they feel confident with Sanchez's progress in his rehab.

In all likelihood, Sanchez will require surgery and will miss the entire 2022 season. Besides being considered one of the better punters in the league, Sanchez is the only one on Indianapolis' roster, so the Colts will need to seek a replacement on the free-agent market.

Sanchez is recovering from Nov. 30 surgery, which removed a cancerous tumor from his ankle. It appears he's ready to return to the lineup in Sunday's game against the Texans. Sanchez has averaged 46.4 yards per punt this season, landing 40 percent of his boots within the 20-yard line.
