  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Expected to miss Week 11

Coach Todd Bowles said Monday that he doesn't expect Godwin (fibula) to play next Sunday against the Bills, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Godwin has yet to return to practice and has missed four straight games. He's looking at missing a fifth consecutive contest versus Buffalo. With Mike Evans (collarbone) also shelved, the Bucs will continue to roll with Emeka Egbuka, Tez Johnson and Sterling Shepard at wide receiver versus Buffalo.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Out again

Godwin (fibula) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against New England, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports. Godwin hasn't practiced for a month and now will miss a fourth consecutive game. Emeka Egbuka, Tez Johnson and Sterling Shepard likely will be Tampa Bay's top three WRs again.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Remaining sidelined at practice

Godwin (fibula) isn't participating in Thursday's practice, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports. Godwin has yet to resume on-field work following the Buccaneers' Week 9 bye and appears to be on track to miss his fourth consecutive game this Sunday against the Patriots. Unless Godwin is able to reverse the trend and practice in some fashion Friday, expect the Buccaneers to officially rule him out for Sunday's game on their final Week 10 injury report.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Sitting out practice

Godwin (lower leg) is not expected to participate in Wednesday's practice, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Godwin remains sidelined at practice despite Tampa Bay having had the benefit of a Week 9 bye. Head coach Todd Bowles said prior to the bye that Godwin is "week-to-week," though he confirmed that the veteran wideout's fibula injury has no danger of being season-ending. Still, Godwin may be trending in the wrong direction for Sunday's matchup against the Patriots, in which case wideouts Sterling Shepard, Tez Johnson, Ryan Miller and Kameron Johnson, plus tight end Cade Otton, will be in line to handle increased receiving work behind rookie standout Emeka Egbuka.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Not a candidate to play Week 8

Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles said Wednesday that Godwin (lower leg) will not be available Sunday on the road against New Orleans, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports. Bowles said Godwin, who will not practice Wednesday, remains "week-to-week" and that the team has no concerns about his fibula injury potentially being season-ending, per Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site. The same can't be said for Mike Evans, however, who Bowles said will be "touch and go" to return by the end of the regular season due to a broken collarbone suffered during Monday's loss to the Lions, per Smith. Tampa Bay will go on bye Week 9, meaning Godwin's next chance to take the field will arrive Sunday, Nov. 9 versus the Patriots in Week 10. Until Godwin retakes the field, Sterling Shepard, Tez Johnson, Ryan Miller and Kameron Johnson will handle expanded roles at wide receiver behind rookie Emeka Egbuka.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Absent from practice Wednesday

Godwin (lower leg) is not participating in Wednesday's practice, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Godwin hasn't practiced since suffering a fibula injury Week 5 against the Buccaneers, and he's since missed back-to-back games. With the Buccaneers set to go on bye Week 9, the team could take a cautious approach to Godwin's health and hold him out again during Sunday's road matchup against the Saints. With Mike Evans (collarbone) expected to miss most of the season due to a broken collarbone suffered during Monday's 24-9 loss to the Lions, Godwin's long-term health has become an increasingly crucial factor for Tampa Bay.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Ruled out for MNF

Godwin (fibula) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Lions, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Godwin will be sidelined for a second consecutive game due to a fibula injury that he picked up during the Buccaneers' Week 5 win over the Seahawks. The injury isn't related to the fibula that he broke during the 2024 campaign, but the Bucs will continue to play things cautiously with the veteran wideout. With Tampa Bay on a bye in Week 9, the Buccaneers could hold Godwin out for Week 8 against the Saints to give the veteran wideout more time to heal, per Greg Auman of Fox Sports. With Godwin and Bucky Irving (foot/shoulder) both ruled out, Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers may have to rely more heavily on Rachaad White, Sterling Shepard, Tez Johnson and Cade Otton in the offense depending on the statuses of Mike Evans (hamstring) and Emeka Egbuka (hamstring), both of whom are considered game-time calls for Monday night's game in Detroit.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Not practicing Friday

Godwin (fibula) didn't practice Friday, Jenna Laine of ESPN.com reports. Buccaneers coach Todd Bowles said Monday that Godwin is unlikely to play this week. Continued absences from practice suggest Godwin may be ruled out as soon as Saturday, while the Bucs at least are leaving the door cracked open for fellow wideouts Mike Evans (hamstring) and Emeka Egbuka (hamstring).

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Not practicing Thursday

Godwin (fibula) isn't practicing Thursday, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Though the Buccaneers have yet to officially rule Godwin out for this coming Monday's game against the Lions, head coach Todd Bowles acknowledged earlier in the week that the veteran wideout is likely on track to miss a second straight contest due to a fibula injury. Godwin's absence from the team's first Week 7 practice supports that notion, and he could be one of three key playmakers that the Buccaneers will be without in a matchup with Detroit. In addition to Godwin, receiver Emeka Egbuka (hamstring) and running back Bucky Irving (shoulder/foot) were spectators for Thursday's practice, though wideout Mike Evans (hamstring) returned to the field for the first time since Week 3.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Not expected to return Week 7

Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles said Godwin (fibula) is "not in play" to return to the field versus the Lions in Week 7 on Monday, Oct. 20, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Godwin didn't practice at all en route to being ruled out for Sunday's win over the 49ers, and he now is slated to miss a second consecutive game. Bowles also said running back Bucky Irving (shoulder) won't be a candidate to return for Monday Night Football versus Detroit. Tampa Bay could get Mike Evans (hamstring) back at practice, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, but with rookie phenom Emeka Egbuka (hamstring) looking uncertain for Week 7, Godwin's absence will be a notable blow for the Buccaneers' passing game.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Ruled out

Godwin (fibula) is ruled out for Sunday's game against the 49ers and now considered week-to-week, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports. Godwin didn't practice at all this week, after topping 70 percent snap share Weeks 4 and 5. It appears the Bucs brought Godwin back too soon, though Bucs coach Todd Bowles said Friday that the wideout's current injury isn't to the part of his fibula that he broke last year. With both Godwin and Mike Evans (hamstring) out of the lineup again, Tampa Bay will turn to Sterling Shepard and Tez Johnson alongside rookie standout Emeka Egbuka. Depth options include Ryan Miller and Kameron Johnson.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Expected to sit versus 49ers

Godwin (fibula) isn't expected to play Sunday against the 49ers, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports. Godwin hasn't been officially ruled out by the team, but that could happen later Friday when the Buccaneers release their final Week 6 injury report. Emeka Egbuka is set to lead a Tampa Bay receiving corps that remains without Mike Evans (hamstring), with Sterling Shepard and Tez Johnson likely to see substantial playing time as well.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Another missed practice

Godwin (fibula) didn't practice Thursday, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports. All of Godwin, fellow WR Mike Evans (hamstring) and RB Bucky Irving (foot/shoulder) weren't spotted at Thursday's session and subsequently went down as non-participants for a second day in a row. Both Evans and Irving are trending toward absences Sunday against the 49ers due to their respective lingering injuries, but it's unclear if Godwin's new fibula issue has him in the same boat. Friday's practice thus will be key for Godwin to put himself in a position to suit up (or not) this weekend.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Remains absent from practice

Godwin (fibula) wasn't spotted on the field for Thursday's practice, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Unless he fits in some on-field work behind the scenes during the closed portion of Thursday's session, Godwin will go down as a non-participant for the Buccaneers' first two Week 6 practices. Fellow wideout Mike Evans (hamstring) and running back Bucky Irving (shoulder/foot) have joined Godwin in sitting out both practices, putting the Buccaneers at risk of being without three of their top playmakers for Sunday's game against the 49ers. If both Godwin and Evans are sidelined for the Week 6 contest, Sterling Shepard, Tez Johnson and Ryan Miller could all be in line for added snaps behind Emeka Egbuka, who would be locked in as Tampa Bay's clear No. 1 wideout.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Dealing with injured fibula

Godwin (fibula) didn't participate in Wednesday's walkthrough. The Buccaneers were without Godwin, fellow WR Mike Evans (hamstring) and No. 1 RB Bucky Irving (foot/shoulder) to kick off Week 6 prep. Godwin has two games under his belt after recovering from the dislocated left ankle that he suffered Week 7 of last season, but his returns (6-52-0 on 14 targets) have been minimal. With a new injury in tow, his status bears watching as the week goes on to get a sense of his availability for Sunday's contest against the 49ers.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Held to three catches in shootout

Godwin had three receptions on four targets for 26 yards in Sunday's 38-35 win over the Seahawks. Godwin saw his efficiency improve from the 30 percent catch rate he posted in his return from injury last week. Unfortunately for fantasy managers, his target count dropped dramatically from the 10 he garnered against the Eagles in Week 4. Godwin's return from an ankle injury sustained in Week 7 of the 2024 season has come along slowly, dampening expectations for the veteran until we see a true return to form. The Buccaneers could still be without top wideout Mike Evans (hamstring) in Week 6, which would keep Godwin in the starting lineup against the 49ers next Sunday.
... See More ... See Less
  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Set for extra opportunities again

Godwin is likely to see elevated target volume again in Sunday's Week 5 matchup against the Seahawks due to Mike Evans (hamstring) being inactive for the contest. Godwin made his return from his own serious injury -- a dislocated ankle suffered Week 7 of last season -- Week 4 against the Eagles, the first game of Evans' current absence. He saw 10 targets across 58 snaps right out of the gate, but he was able to haul in only three of them for 26 yards. Nevertheless, with another week of practice, not to mention his first game action in nearly a year, now under his belt, Godwin could well be more efficient while facing a Seahawks secondary that once again will play without cornerback Devon Witherspoon (knee) and safety Julian Love (hamstring).

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Three catches in season debut

Godwin (ankle) secured three of 10 targets for 26 yards in the Buccaneers' 31-25 loss to the Eagles on Sunday. Godwin made his season debut after completing his recovery from last October's ankle dislocation, and despite concerns he'd be eased into action, the veteran wideout finished tied for the team lead in targets with Emeka Egbuka. Godwin's inefficiency wasn't unexpected considering the coverage skills of the Eagles' secondary and his long layoff, but the immediate attention from Baker Mayfield was also warranted due to the absence of Mike Evans (hamstring). With Evans expected to miss multiple games, Godwin is likely to remain heavily involved in the passing attack in a Week 5 road trip to Seattle.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Season debut on tap

Godwin (foot) is active for Sunday's game against the Eagles. Godwin built up his conditioning over the last three weeks, culminating with full practices Wednesday and Friday around a scheduled rest day Thursday. Now that he's finished his recovery from the dislocated left ankle that he sustained Week 7 of last season, he's ready for his first game action of 2025. The Buccaneers will be without Mike Evans (hamstring) on Sunday, so even if Godwin is inhibited at all, he'll be in the mix for passes from quarterback Baker Mayfield (right biceps) along with rookie first-round pick Emeka Egbuka and veteran Sterling Shepard.

  • Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Season debut expected Sunday

Godwin (ankle) is expected to play Sunday against the Eagles, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Godwin, who has missed the first three games of the season, was a full participant in practice Friday and is officially listed as questionable for the contest. His expected return to the mix arrives at an opportune juncture, with fellow WR Mike Evans expected to miss three-to-four weeks with a hamstring injury. Also trending toward playing versus the Eagles is QB Baker Mayfield (biceps, questionable), with the duo's Week 4 status set to be confirmed when the Buccaneers post their inactives ahead of Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff.
