Jontre Kirklin: Misses 49ers' roster
The 49ers waived Kirklin on Monday, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Kirklin signed with the 49ers earlier in August, but the team has now decided to part ways with the 25-year-old wideout. He has yet to appear in an NFL game after recording four receptions for 49 yards and no touchdowns during his final collegiate season at LSU in 2021, but he did star for the UFL's San Antonio Brahmas this past spring with 56 receptions for 614 yards and three touchdowns during the regular season.

49ers' Jontre Kirklin: Joining San Francisco
The 49ers signed Kirklin on Wednesday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Kirklin most recently spent time on the Saints' practice squad and has yet to appear in an NFL game. The 25-year-old wide receiver out of LSU is expected to compete for a depth role in the 49ers' wide receiver room as the preseason progresses.

The Saints cut Kirklin from the practice squad Tuesday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
Kirklin was initially let from the Saints' practice squad Sept. 12 before rejoining the taxi squad Oct. 11. He did not appear in a game this season and will have the chance to latch onto another practice squad should he clear waivers.

Kirklin spent most of training camp in New Orleans but was ultimately unable to carve out a spot on the roster. He subsequently landed on their practice squad, but it now looks like the team is going in a different direction. As a result, the pass catcher will be on the hunt for landing spot.

Kirklin was waived by Arizona ahead of the 53-man roster deadline, but he quickly landed a spot on the Cardinals' practice squad. However, he's been let go ahead of Week 1. The 5-foot-11 wideout originally signed with the Cardinals in May as an undrafted free agent out of LSU, where he caught 19 passes for 308 yards and three scores across his final three seasons.
