Tanner Morgan: Cut from practice squad
Morgan was released from the Vikings' practice squad Friday.
Morgan joined Minnesota's practice squad in October before ultimately getting let go days later. However, he returned earlier in the week, presumably as the team looks for depth options with Kirk Cousins (Achilles) out for the year. It looks like they have opted to go in a different direction from the undrafted free agent.

Less than a month after being cut from the Vikings' practice squad, Morgan has now gotten another chance to make an impression. With Jaren Hall (concussion) questionable to suit up in Week 10, Morgan could be elevated to the active roster as soon as Sunday versus New Orleans.

Tanner Morgan: Moving to Minnesota
Morgan signed with the Vikings' practice squad Thursday.
The undrafted rookie out of Minnesota spent time with the Steelers during preseason, but he ultimately failed to make the team's 53-man roster or practice squad. Morgan threw for 9,469 yards, 65 touchdowns and 32 interceptions throughout his five-year collegiate career.

Tanner Morgan: Cut by Pittsburgh
The Steelers waived Morgan on Monday, Teresa Varley of the team's official site reports.
Morgan won't stick with Pittsburgh's initial regular-season roster, but he could get a chance to continue his development via the team's practice squad. The undrafted rookie was underwhelming in limited preseason action.

Steelers' Tanner Morgan: Passes for 36 yards
Morgan completed five of eight pass attempts for 36 yards, no touchdowns and an interception while rushing twice for minus-1 yard during Friday's 27-17 preseason win over the Buccaneers.
Morgan joined the Steelers as an undrafted free agent during the offseason after five seasons at Minnesota. He was the last quarterback to see the field for Pittsburgh on Friday, and he had limited production. The Steelers also have Kenny Pickett, Mitch Trubisky and Mason Rudolph returning for 2023, so Morgan seems like a long shot to make the team's 53-man roster.

Tanner Morgan: Headed to Pittsburgh
Morgan is slated to sign with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent, Teresa Varley of the team's official site reports.
Morgan played nine games with Minnesota last season, completing 62.2 percent of his passes for 1,382 yards, nine touchdowns and five interceptions. Morgan has shown improvement each season with his pocket movement and ball placement but has struggled with his pre-snap reads. The Steelers will give him a look because of his competitiveness and year-to-year improvement.
