  • C.J. Henderson: Returning to Atlanta

The Falcons signed Henderson to the practice squad Wednesday, Terrin Waack of the team's official site reports. The 2020 first-rounder signed with the Falcons late in training camp, and while he didn't make the initial 53-man roster he will stick around on the team's practice squad. Henderson is a candidate to be elevated to the active roster if the Falcons need help in the secondary or on special teams.

  • C.J. Henderson: Cut loose by Atlanta

The Falcons released Henderson on Tuesday, Terrin Waack, Will McFadden and Tori McElhaney of the team's official site report. Henderson was brought in by the Falcons on Aug. 14 to compete for a depth spot on the 53-man roster. He played in the Falcons' preseason finale against the Cowboys on Friday, finishing with one solo tackle while playing 24 snaps (22 on defense, two on special teams). Henderson ultimately didn't show enough to catch on with the Falcons, but the 2020 first-rounder has started in 32 regular-season games since entering the league and should garner interest from teams looking to add veteran depth to the secondary.

  • Falcons' C.J. Henderson: Latches on with Atlanta

The Falcons signed Henderson to a contract Thursday, Josh Kendall of The Athletic reports. Henderson worked out with the Falcons in late July, and the 2020 first-rounder will now have an opportunity to compete for a depth spot on Atlanta's 53-man roster for the upcoming season. Henderson spent time on the Steelers' active roster during the 2024 season but did not play in a regular-season game before being placed on injured reserve in mid-November due to a neck injury. Henderson last saw regular-season action in 2023 with the Panthers, when he logged 39 tackles (31 solo), including 1.0 sacks, and two pass defenses across 12 games (seven starts).

  • C.J. Henderson: Gets look from Falcons

Henderson worked out with the Falcons on Thursday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports. Henderson spent the 2024 season with the Steelers, but his campaign was ended by a neck injury in mid-November. He appears to be fully recovered and is seeking new opportunities for a depth-corner role around the league.

  • Steelers' C.J. Henderson: Sent to injured reserve

The Steelers placed Henderson (neck) on injured reserve Saturday, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports. Henderson had already been ruled out for Sunday's date with the Broncos, and he'll now be required to miss at least the next four games. He'll be eligible to return in Week 15 against Philadelphia. The No. 9 overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Jaguars, Henderson has yet to appear in a game this season.

  • Steelers' C.J. Henderson: Out for Sunday

Henderson (neck) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Ravens. Henderson popped up on the Steelers' injury report Thursday as a non-participant due to a neck issue, and following Friday's DNP, he won't play in Sunday's divisional matchup. With Henderson sidelined in Week 11, expect James Pierre to see increased work with Pittsburgh's first-team defense.

  • Texans' CJ Henderson: Headed to Houston

Henderson signed a one-year contract with the Texans on Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. Henderson hasn't made the expected impact tied to his first-round draft capital, but he was a decent contributor in the Panthers' secondary for the last two seasons. He's likely to fill a similar depth role with the Texans, potentially taking the field in nickel or dime formations.

  • Panthers' CJ Henderson: Sitting out Sunday

Henderson (coach's decision) is inactive Sunday against the Packers. Henderson has seen his role decrease since returning from a three-week absence due to a concussion suffered in Week 9. The veteran cornerback has played just six snaps on defense over the last two weeks while chipping in on special teams. He'll work to get back in the fold Week 17 against the Jaguars.

  • Panthers' CJ Henderson: Getting closer to return

Henderson (concussion) was listed as a full participant on Thursday's injury report. Henderson has been working his way through the league's five-step concussion protocols since he suffered the head injury in Week 9 and seems to be getting closer to gaining clearance to play again. His practice status for Friday should shed better light on whether he'll be cleared to suit up Sunday against the Titans.

  • Panthers' CJ Henderson: Logs DNP on Thursday

Henderson (concussion) didn't participate in Thursday's practice. The 2020 first-round pick seems to be trending in the wrong direction to play this weekend, as he's gone from limited participation in Wednesday's practice to a DNP on Thursday. Henderson will likely carry an injury designation into Sunday, and if he's unable to suit up for the second consecutive game, Dicaprio Bootle and Troy Hill are expected to see more snaps on the Panthers' defense.

  • Panthers' CJ Henderson: Enters concussion protocol

Henderson suffered a concussion and won't return to Sunday's game against the Colts, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports. Henderson's exit will be a blow to the team's secondary, which is already without Vonn Bell (quadriceps) and has also seen Xavier Woods exit early Sunday with a thigh injury. With Henderson sidelined, Troy Hill and D'Shawn Jamison will be the likeliest candidates to see extra snaps against Indianapolis.

  • Panthers' CJ Henderson: Fifth-year option not picked up

Henderson's fifth-year option was not exercised by the Panthers on Monday, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports. Henderson will now be a free agent after the conclusion of the 2023 season. The cornerback struggled to find his footing with Jacksonville to open his career after the team selected him in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, and he now is going into his third season as a member of the Panthers. In 2022, Henderson recorded a career-high 58 tackles to go with six pass defenses (including two interceptions) and a forced fumble over 17 contests.

  • Panthers' CJ Henderson: Absent from injury report

Henderson (shoulder) was not listed on the Panthers' injury report Thursday. Henderson clear concussion protocol heading into Sunday's win over the Buccaneers, though he was forced to exit with a shoulder injury at some point during the contest. However, this issue appears to have been minor, as the 24-year-old did not appear on Carolina's injury report Wednesday or Thursday. Henderson has compiled 25 tackles and one pass defended on 257 defensive snaps over seven contests this season, and he could see an increased role if starting cornerback Jaycee Horn (ribs) remains sidelined Sunday against the Falcons.

  • Panthers' CJ Henderson: Returns to full participation

Henderson (concussion) was a full participant at the Panthers' practice Friday. Henderson returned to full participation at practice Friday, a big step in returning from the concussion he suffered in Week 6 against the Rams. The cornerback has yet to be cleared from concussion protocols, but he has a real shot at suiting up to play Sunday versus the Buccaneers. With Jaycee Horn (ribs) and Donte Jackson (ankle) also questionable to play, Carolina could be thin in the secondary this week.

  • Panthers' CJ Henderson: Not practicing Wednesday

Henderson (concussion) didn't practice Wednesday. Henderson suffered the concussion during Carolina's Week 6 loss to the Rams and will have to clear the league's protocols before returning to game action. He'll have two more opportunities to practice before the Panthers need to make a decision on his status for Sunday's matchup against Tampa Bay.

  • Panthers' CJ Henderson: Shouldn't be out too long

Henderson avoided serious injury after he rolled his ankle during Friday's practice, Schuyler Callihan of SI.com reports. It's unclear how much time Henderson will miss, but head coach Matt Rhule didn't express too much concern about the injury. The 23-year-old defender was traded to Carolina at the beginning of last season after he played just 10 games for Jacksonville. Henderson is currently listed as the No. 3 option at cornerback behind Donte Jackson and Jaycee Horn, but he should continue producing, as he recorded 31 tackles and two passes defensed in 10 games a year ago for the Panthers.

  • Panthers' CJ Henderson: Won't play Sunday

Henderson (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's contest against the Patriots, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official website reports. Henderson missed the Panthers' Week 8 contest against the Falcons due to a shoulder injury, but he will be a healthy scratch for Week 9. The 2020 first-round pick hasn't played more than 20 defensive snaps since he was traded to Carolina midseason.

  • Panthers' CJ Henderson: Logs full practice

Henderson (shoulder) was a full participant in practice Wednesday. Henderson (shoulder) was injured in an Oct. 24 game against the Giants and missed the Panthers' Week 8 game against the Falcons. Getting in a full practice is a good sign for his availability Sunday against the Patriots.

  • Panthers' CJ Henderson: Questionable for Week 8

Henderson (shoulder) is considered questionable for the Panthers' Week 8 contest with the Falcons on Sunday, Joe Person of The Athletic reports. Henderson first injured his shoulder before Week 6 and he was forced to miss that contest. The cornerback was then able to suit up for Week 7, where he aggravated his shoulder injury. Henderson has been playing limited snaps all season, so expect more of the same if the corner is able to suit up against the Falcons. Stanley Thomas-Oliver should see extended snaps Sunday if Henderson can't play.

  • Jaguars' CJ Henderson: Likely heading to Carolina

The Panthers are closing in on a trade to acquire Henderson (groin) from the Jaguars in a deal that involves TE Dan Arnold, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Henderson had taken on a starting role to begin the season but was unavailable for the Jaguars' Week 3 loss to the Cardinals due to a groin injury. He's recorded eight tackles (six solo) across his first two appearances in 2021 and will provide immediate help in Carolina's secondary with Jaycee Horn (foot) slated to miss time.
