  • 49ers' Brian Robinson: Limited to two offensive snaps

Robinson did not record a touch on offense while returning three kicks for 99 yards in Sunday's 26-15 loss to the Texans. Robinson finished with just two offensive snaps (four percent) and seven on special teams in the upset loss. Christian McCaffrey was on the field 96 percent of the time, a trend that pops up when the 49ers are trailing for the majority of a contest, as was the case Week 8. Robinson has sandwiched his best output of the season against the Falcons (9-36-0) with a pair of box-score bagels, giving him little to no upside for next Sunday's tilt against the Giants.

  • 49ers' Brian Robinson Jr.: Week 8 Waiver Priority List

Robinson is only getting minimal work as the No. 2 running back in San Francisco behind Christian McCaffrey, but you want to roster Robinson just in case McCaffrey is forced to miss any time. If Robinson were to start at any point for the 49ers then he would be a must-start Fantasy option in all leagues. He is worth adding in all leagues where available for 1 percent of your remaining FAB.

  • 49ers' Brian Robinson: Season-high 36 yards Sunday

Robinson carried the ball nine times for 36 yards and was not targeted as a receiver in Sunday's 20-10 win over Atlanta. Robinson's 36 rushing yards Sunday set a new high-water mark for the backup rusher through seven appearances with the 49ers. The nine carries tied his previous high set back in Week 1. This comes on the heels of a zero-carry outing against the Buccaneers last week. It makes sense that Robinson would see an uptick in usage in games that the 49ers play with a lead for most of the contest. While a similar situation could arise in a winnable matchup against the Texans next Sunday, Robinson is unlikely to sniff double-digit touches in his current role working behind Christian McCaffrey.

  • 49ers' Brian Robinson: No rushing attempts Sunday

Robinson did not record a carry and caught all three of his targets for eight yards in Sunday's 30-19 loss to the Buccaneers. It was an odd usage game for Robinson after he did not receive a carry for the first time in six appearances this year. Equally abnormal, the veteran backup's three targets Sunday matched the combined total from his previous five contests. The end result was still unsavory from a fantasy perspective, as Robinson was unable to do much with just five snaps played on offense (seven percent). Fantasy managers shouldn't expect much from Robinson in games that starter Christian McCaffrey is healthy for. The same can be said for next Sunday's tilt against the Falcons.

  • 49ers' Brian Robinson: Held to 12 yards Thursday

Robinson rushed five times for 12 yards and was not targeted in Thursday's 26-23 overtime win against the Rams. Starter Christian McCaffrey gobbled up a season high 76 snaps on offense (88 percent) Thursday, leaving just scraps for Robinson, even with the 49ers missing several key offensive players on a short week. The veteran backup finished with his worst per-carry average (2.4 yards) since being traded to San Francisco this preseason. Robinson's lack of involvement in the passing game (three targets) coupled with zero trips to the end zone through five appearances make him a poor fantasy option Week 6 against the Buccaneers.

  • 49ers' Brian Robinson: Gains 21 yards Sunday

Robinson rushed five times for 21 yards and was not targeted in Sunday's 26-21 loss to Jacksonville. Robinson logged only two more snaps on offense (eight) than he did Week 3, but he finished with three more carries Sunday than the two he received against Arizona. Christian McCaffrey continued to dominate San Francisco's backfield usage, taking 23 touches for 141 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown in the team's first loss of the campaign. Robinson is the clear No. 2 behind McCaffrey, but there simply isn't enough scraps left for another rusher to thrive in this offense. The 26-year-old Robinson is not a viable fantasy option for Week 5 when the 49ers face the Rams on Thursday Night Football.

  • 49ers' Brian Robinson: Handles seven touches Sunday

Robinson rushed six times for 20 yards and caught his only target for a loss of one yard in Sunday's 26-21 win over New Orleans. Robinson struggled to find much running room with his allotted touches Sunday. The 26-year-old wound up playing 16 snaps on offense (23 percent) and was still the only backup runner deployed behind Christian McCaffrey. Robinson will continue serving a change-of-pace role for the 49ers against the Cardinals next Sunday.

  • 49ers' Brian Robinson: Traded to 49ers

The Commanders are trading Robinson to the 49ers, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Christian McCaffrey has remained healthy all summer, but nearly all of the 49ers' other running backs have missed time with injuries, including Isaac Guerendo (shoulder). Guerendo did return to practice earlier this week, but there's now risk he drops down the depth chart with San Francisco trading for Robinson, who has 40 starts and 22 TDs to his name in the NFL (including playoffs). The Commanders, meanwhile, are left with Austin Ekeler, Jacory Croskey-Merritt, Chris Rodriguez and Jeremy McNichols in the backfield. Washington reportedly will receive a sixth-round pick and eat some of Robinson's $3.4 million base salary, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

  • Commanders' Brian Robinson: Excused from practice

Robinson is not practicing Wednesday, and his absence is excused, Commanders writer Ben Standig reports. Robinson also sat out Monday's preseason loss to the Bengals, a mutual decision between himself and Washington. Head coach Dan Quinn said Wednesday he hopes for a resolution soon, but Robinson's absence lends further credence to the building rumors that he's been placed on the trade block. Now on the final year of his year of his rookie deal, Robinson is set out to play the 2025 season with a $3.4 million salary, though he carries under $300,000 in dead cap. As a proven between-the-tackles contributor who averaged 4.1 yards per carry over the last three seasons, Robinson figures to draw at least modest interest around the league from teams in need of a competent big-bodied ballcarrier.

  • Commanders' Brian Robinson: Won't suit up vs. Bengals

Robinson will not play during Monday's preseason game against Cincinnati amid ongoing speculation about him being on the trade block, Commanders writer Ben Standig reports. Robinson is entering the final year of his rookie deal and has rushed for over 700 yards in three straight campaigns for Washington, having handled 187 carries for a career-high 799 yards (4.3 YPC) and eight touchdowns across 14 regular-season games in 2024. That Robinson won't take the field Monday alongside second-year quarterback Jayden Daniels lends more credence to rumors that Washington is willing to move on from the 2022 third-round pick via trade, as Jeremy Brener of SI.com reports, and potentially move forward with Austin Ekeler, Jeremy McNichols, Chris Rodriguez and rookie training camp standout Jacory Croskey-Merritt (shoulder) atop the depth chart instead. Per Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports, the decision for Robinson to sit out Monday's preseason game is mutual between the running back and the team.

  • Commanders' Brian Robinson: Not playing Friday

Robinson is among the Commanders' key players who won't play in Friday's preseason opener against the Patriots, Zach Selby of the team's official site reports. The team announced that 30 players won't suit up for the contest, and along with Robinson, other non-injured players who are not slated to see action Friday include QB Jayden Daniels, RB Austin Ekeler, WRs Deebo Samuel and Noah Brown, and TEs Zach Ertz and John Bates. With Robinson and Ekeler unavailable, Jeremy McNichols, Chris Rodriguez, Jacory Croskey-Merritt, Kazmeir Allen and Demetric Felton are candidates to log backfield touches versus New England.

  • Commanders' Brian Robinson: Bottled up in loss

Robinson rushed the ball 11 times for 36 yards in Sunday's 55-23 loss to the Eagles in the NFC Championship Game. Robinson led the Commanders' backfield in carries, though he saw limited work overall. Austin Ekeler and Jayden Daniels earned eight and six rushing attempts respectively, and Ekeler also accounted for all of the pass-catching work out of the backfield. As a result, with Washington chasing points for most of the contest, Ekeler took over as the lead back in the final two quarters. Robinson ended the season on a slide in production, as he was held to 50 or fewer total yards in four of the team's last seven games including the postseason. That casts doubt over his potential role in 2025 despite topping 175 carries in all three seasons as a pro.

  • Commanders' Brian Robinson: Pair of rush TDs in upset

Robinson rushed 15 times for 77 yards and two touchdowns and wasn't targeted in the Commanders' 45-31 divisional-round win over the Lions on Saturday night. The Lions had maintained one of the league's best run defenses all season despite enduring a multitude of injuries, but Robinson and backfield mate Austin Ekeler both were able to make significant inroads on the ground Saturday. Robinson operated in his usual No. 1 back role and recorded two- and one-yard rushing touchdowns in the second and fourth quarter, respectively. The talented third-year back served as a key component of the Commanders' offensive success and helped keep the Lions' defense off balance in Jayden Daniels' second career playoff start, and he'll look to fill a similar role in an NFC Championship Game matchup against the Rams or Eagles on Sunday, Jan. 26.

  • Commanders' Brian Robinson: Struggles in tough matchup

Robinson was held to 16 yards on 10 carries while catching four of five targets for 22 yards in Sunday's 23-20 win over the Buccaneers. Robinson failed to generate any running lanes against Pro Bowl DT Vita Vea and the interior of Tampa Bay's defense. Quarterback Jayden Daniels wound up leading the Commanders in carries (13) as the rushing offense was forced to operate outside of the numbers in the second half. Robinson also had to deal with the presence of veteran backup Austin Ekeler, who was activated from IR in Week 18 and poached 11 touches for a combined 53 yards in Sunday's narrow victory. With a shared backfield and a potential pass-heavy game plan set for the divisional round, Robinson makes for a marginal DFS option against the Lions on Saturday.

  • Commanders' Brian Robinson: Modest workload in Week 18

Robinson rushed five times for 10 yards and caught his only target for six yards in Sunday's 23-19 win over the Cowboys. Robinson didn't get many touches in the regular-season finale as the Commanders chose not to overwork their running backs ahead of the postseason. Washington's lead back finishes the regular season with 187 carries for 799 yards and eight touchdowns, as well as 20 catches for 159 yards on 25 targets. Austin Ekeler (concussion) returned from injured reserve Sunday, but Robinson's likely to get the majority of touches over Ekeler in the wild-card round against either the Rams or Buccaneers.

  • Commanders' Brian Robinson: Handles 15 touches Sunday

Robinson took 13 carries for 60 yards while catching both of his targets for nine yards in Sunday's 30-24 overtime win over the Falcons. Robinson turned in a middling performance as rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels carried the team to victory Sunday. The 25-year-old Robinson did set a new career high in rushing yards (849) with Sunday's modest showing. Robinson may see less opportunities in next Sunday's season finale against the Cowboys if the Commanders, who have clinched a playoff spot but can rise no higher than the No. 6 seed in the NFC, elect to rest or reduce the workload of their starters.

  • Commanders' Brian Robinson: Can't hold onto ball in Week 16

Robinson carried the ball 10 times for 24 yards and caught two of three targets for 17 yards in Sunday's 36-33 win over the Eagles. He also lost two fumbles. The third-year running back wasn't much involved in the game plan once the Commanders fell behind early, in part because he coughed up the ball on two of the team's first five possessions, and Jayden Daniels wound up leading the team in rushing yards while also throwing five TDs in the comeback victory. Robinson still crept closer to 1,000 scrimmage yards for the season, and he sits 127 yards away heading into a Week 17 clash with the Falcons that could allow him to have more of a featured role if he isn't in coach Dan Quinn's doghouse.

  • Commanders' Brian Robinson: Rumbles for 40-yard TD in win

Robinson rushed 16 times for 103 yards and a touchdown while catching his only target for six yards in Sunday's 42-19 win over the Titans. Robinson quickly showed that he's over the ankle injury he sustained in the Week 12 loss to Dallas, opening the scoring with a 40-yard touchdown run on the game's first possession. That hot start helped Robinson post his third 100-yard rushing performance of the season and first since Week 4. With Austin Ekeler (concussion) on IR, Robinson should continue to handle heavy workloads as the clear lead back after Washington's Week 14 bye.

  • Commanders' Brian Robinson: Avoids injury designation

Robinson (ankle) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Titans, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports. Robinson may even have a larger-than-usual role despite hurting his ankle last week, seeing as Austin Ekeler suffered a concussion later in the game and now has been ruled out for Week 13. Robinson upgraded to full practice participation Friday after being limited the previous two days.

  • Commanders' Brian Robinson: Wait-and-see mode with ankle

Coach Dan Quinn said Monday that Robinson (ankle) will be a "wait-and-see scenario" ahead of Sunday's game against the Titans, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports. Robinson initially injured his ankle early in this past Sunday's loss to the Cowboys. He was cleared to return by the medical staff, but Robinson aggravated the ankle in the second half and wasn't able to get back in the game. Robinson ended up playing just 12 offensive snaps all day. He's battled a multitude of injuries since the calendar flipped to October. With Austin Ekeler (concussion) also banged up, the Commanders again may have to turn to Jeremy McNichols in Week 13.
