Sam Webb: Released from reserve/retired list
The Giants released Webb from their reserve/retired list Tuesday, Patricia Traina of SI.com reports.
The Giants have now waived their rights to Webb's services, even in the case that he decides to come out of retirement. Before retiring earlier this week, Webb had suited up for 36 regular-season games over four seasons with three different teams.

Giants' Sam Webb: Placed on reserve/retired list
Webb (undisclosed) was placed on the reserve/retired list by the Giants on Sunday, Patricia Traina of SI.com reports.
Webb was signed by New York after being let go by the Broncos last week, but he has now decided to retire after suffering an undisclosed injury. The Giants have retained the cornerback's rights, so if he unretires, Webb will return to New York.

Sam Webb: Let go by Denver
The Broncos cut Webb on Saturday, Chris Tomasson of The Denver Gazette reports.
The move makes room on the Broncos' 90-man roster for defensive back Ricardo Hallman. Webb has four years of NFL experience under his belt and will look to join a team in need of cornerback help who can also contribute on special teams.

Broncos' Sam Webb: Lands in Denver
Webb signed with the Broncos on Thursday, Chris Tomasson of The Denver Gazette reports.
The cornerback's signing comes after Blake Cotton (hamstring) was let go with an injury settlement. Webb appeared in seven regular-season games with the Browns last season but was not tendered a new contract in the offseason. The Missouri Western product has also seen time with the Raiders and Panthers across a four-year NFL career.

Sam Webb: Not tendered by Cleveland
Webb is now an unrestricted free agent after the Browns opted not to tender him Wednesday, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports.
Webb spent the first half of the 2025 season on the Titans' practice squad after being cut by the Raiders at the end of training camp. He was signed to the Browns' active roster in mid-November, and across seven regular-season games (two starts) he recorded eight tackles (three solo) and one pass defense. He also returned a fumble for a touchdown. Webb's ability to contribute on special teams should garner interest from teams who are also looking for depth in the secondary.

Browns' Sam Webb: Fills in, scores in win
Webb had four tackles and returned a fumble for a touchdown in Sunday's 20-18 win over Cincinnati in Week 18.
Webb entered the game for an injured Denzel Ward (neck) and impacted Cleveland's second consecutive win over a division rival to close out the regular season. After Devin Bush returned an interception 97 yards for a score, Webb scooped up a fumble on the Bengals' next possession and returned it 47 yards for a touchdown. The latter was signed off the Titans' practice squad in mid-November and was used sparingly before his Week 18 heroics. In seven games with the Browns, Webb had eight tackles and one pass defensed in addition to the fumble recovery and touchdown Sunday.

Raiders' Sam Webb: Absent from injury report
Webb (back) was not listed on the Raiders' injury report Wednesday.
Webb has been sidelined for the Raiders' last two games due to a back injury. It appears he is past the issue, and barring any setbacks, he should be available to play against the Saints on Sunday. Webb has mostly played on special teams and has registered one tackle across nine regular-season games.

Raiders' Sam Webb: Not suiting up Week 15
Webb (back) is inactive for Monday's game against Atlanta.
Webb is dealing with a back injury and didn't practice at all this week. He was deemed doubtful heading into Monday, so it's no surprise that he won't suit up against the Falcons. Webb's absence will mostly be felt on special teams, as he's logged 90 snaps with that unit as opposed to 10 on defense over nine games this season.

Panthers' Sam Webb: Picked up by Panthers
The Panthers signed Webb off the Raiders' practice squad Wednesday, Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports.
Webb played in all 17 contests with Las Vegas last season, tallying 36 tackles, three pass defenses and a forced fumble. However, he was among the Raiders' final roster cuts prior to the start of the current campaign. Webb should serve as depth for Carolina with starting cornerback Jaycee Horn doubtful for Week 2 and possibly in need of surgery for a hamstring injury.
