  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: Touchdown salvages low-usage game

Worthy caught two of four targets for 20 yards and a touchdown while taking his only carry for six yards in Sunday's 30-17 win over Detroit. Worthy endured another limited practice week in order to suit up for the Chiefs on Sunday. The speedy wideout has missed two-plus games of action due to injury, but he has now started three consecutive games as his health gradually returns to full strength. Worthy made his first trip to the end zone this season in the primetime win, salvaging what would have been an otherwise disappointing night at the office. The 2024 first-round selection averaged 86.0 combined yards from scrimmage over his first two games back from injury, so Sunday's low usage shouldn't be of concern. The biggest threat to Worthy's target share in Week 7 is the scheduled return of suspended WR Rashee Rice, who is likely to reclaim his role as Kansas City's top wideout against Las Vegas next Sunday.

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: Expected to play Sunday

Coach Andy Reid said Friday that he expects Worthy (shoulder/ankle) to be available Sunday night against the Lions, Sam McDowell of The Kansas City Star reports. Worthy got the day off Thursday due to the pair of injuries that have bothered him at times this season, but his return to drills Friday seemingly went well, as Reid noted that the wide receiver was "moving around good" and "did everything." Once the Chiefs post their final Week 6 practice report, his status will become known ahead of the weekend.

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: Active Monday, as expected

Worthy (shoulder/ankle) is listed as active Monday at Jacksonville, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports. Worthy put an end to a two-game absence Week 4 against the Ravens after recovering from the dislocated right shoulder that he suffered in the season opener. Overall, he played 59 percent of the snaps en route to five catches (on eight targets) for 83 yards and two carries for 38 yards. Worthy proceeded to be listed as a full participant during Week 5 prep, but his status was changed to questionable after his ankle swelled up on the Chiefs' flight to Jacksonville. However, now that his status is confirmed for Monday's contest, Worthy will slot in as Kansas City's No. 1 wide receiver.

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: Ankle swelled up Sunday

Worthy's ankle swelled up on the Chiefs' flight to Jacksonville on Sunday, and Kansas City added him to the injury report as questionable as a precaution, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports. According to Wolfe, the Chiefs will see how Worthy feels Monday ahead of the team's game against the Jaguars. Worthy wasn't even on the injury report this week and practiced in full, so it's unclear when he even came down with this ankle issue. Fantasy managers need to have another plan in place in case Worthy is deemed unable to play. Tyquan Thornton, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Dyami Brown and Parker Washington are options that may be found on the waiver wire.

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: Clear to return Sunday

Worthy (shoulder) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's contest against the Ravens. Worthy thus has been cleared for his first game action since he was knocked from the Chiefs' Week 1 loss early following a collision with TE Travis Kelce. Diagnosed with a dislocated right shoulder afterward, Worthy sat out Weeks 2 and 3, but his ability to practice in full this week indicates he's ready for close to his typical workload. From Week 14 through Super Bowl LIX last season (minus Week 18), he handled greater than 80 percent of the offensive snaps regularly and recorded a 45-518-5 line on 58 targets and 12 carries for 63 yards and another touchdown across seven games.

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: Expected to return Sunday

Coach Andy Reid said Friday that he anticipates Worthy (shoulder) being available Sunday against the Ravens, Sam McDowell of The Kansas City Star reports. Worthy has been sidelined since he suffered a dislocated right shoulder in a collision with TE Travis Kelce on the Chiefs' first possession of the season. After logging full practices Wednesday and Thursday, Worthy has proved his health and is slated to put an end to a two-game absence. In the end, though, it remains to be seen if the Chiefs will restrict his workload in any way in what is an early-season must-win for the team.

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: Another full practice

Worthy (shoulder) practiced fully again Thursday. Worthy -- who suffered a dislocated right shoulder in the Chiefs' season opener -- has missed two straight games, but back-to-back full practices point to a return to action Sunday against the Ravens. Assuming that's the case, the main issue pertaining to Worthy's Week 4 fantasy viability is the possibility that he could be eased back into the lineup versus Baltimore.

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: Full practice participant

Worthy (shoulder) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice. Worthy thus appears likely to return for Sunday's game against the Ravens. He was listed as a limited practice participant all of last week, getting a 'questionable' designation on the Friday injury report before downgrading to 'out' Saturday. Worthy's likely return to the lineup could mean less playing time for any or all of Hollywood Brown, Tyquan Thornton and/or JuJu Smith-Schuster.

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: Officially questionable for Week 3

Worthy (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Sunday's contest at the Giants, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports. Worthy is attempting to play through the dislocated right shoulder that he suffered in the Chiefs' first possession of the season during a Week 1 loss to the Chargers in Brazil. He wasn't able to suit up for a Week 2 defeat to the Eagles, but going back to last week, he's now been listed as limited on five consecutive injury reports. Coach Andy Reid said Friday that a decision regarding Worthy's availability for Week 3 will be made after he talks with Kansas City's medical staff, according to Charles Goldman of AtoZSports.com. With an 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff Sunday, there won't be many viable options to pivot to if Worthy ends up being inactive.

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: 'Slim' chance to play Sunday

Coach Andy Reid said that Worthy (shoulder) "did a little bit" at Friday's practice, and there's a "slim" chance for the wide receiver to suit up Sunday against the Eagles, Jesse Newell of The Athletic reports. Worthy was knocked from the first drive of the Chiefs' season last Friday against the Chargers when he collided with TE Travis Kelce, suffering a dislocated right shoulder in the process. While the wide receiver has been able to practice in a limited fashion on back-to-back days, Worthy appears to have only a very small possibility to miss no game action as a result. With a 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff on tap Sunday, managers should have an alternative lined up for fantasy purposes, assuming he isn't ruled out before then.

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: Set to work at practice Thursday

Worthy (shoulder) is slated to work in some capacity during Thursday's practice, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports. Worthy didn't practice Wednesday, so any level of participation a day later would improve his chances of being able to play Sunday against the Eagles. Either way, unless the wideout is deemed a full practice participant by Friday, he figures to head into the weekend with a Week 2 injury designation.

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: Likely to miss time

Appearing on the Pat McAfee Show on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN stated Worthy (shoulder) will probably miss a little bit of time and be viewed as week-to-week. Worthy suffered a dislocated shoulder three snaps into Friday night's eventual loss to the Chargers when he and Travis Kelce collided over the middle of the field. It's now sounding like Worthy is going to miss time, perhaps multiple games with that week-to-week outlook. With Worthy missing most of Week 1 and Rashee Rice serving his six-game suspension to open the season, Hollywood Brown, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Tyquan Thornton paced the Chiefs' wide receivers in playing time. Brown was particularly involved, turning 16 targets into a 10-99-0 line.

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: Ruled out Friday

Worthy (shoulder) won't return to Friday's game versus the Chargers in Sao Paolo, Brazil. Worthy took a hit directly to his right shoulder from TE Travis Kelce on the first drive of the contest while running an underneath route. He was in visible pain as he went to the sideline and then was escorted off the field and immediate to the X-ray room before being ruled out. With Rashee Rice suspended for the first six games of the season and Jalen Royals (knee) inactive, the Chiefs are left with Hollywood Brown, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Tyquan Thornton, Jason Brownlee and Nikko Remigio for the rest of Week 1.

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: Didn't have concussion

Coach Andy Reid revealed Friday that Worthy, who had been in the NFL's concussion protocol, actually didn't sustain a concussion upon further evaluation Thursday, Nate Taylor of ESPN.com reports. Worthy had exited Tuesday's practice after banging his head, but after it was determined that he was not concussed, the wideout was able to return to practice Friday. Meanwhile, fellow WRs Hollywood Brown (ankle) and Skyy Moore (hamstring) remain sidelined, per Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site.

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: In concussion protocol

Worthy, who is in the NFL's concussion protocol, didn't practice Wednesday, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports. Worthy banged his head during Tuesday's session and now will need to advance through concussion protocol before he rejoins practice. Also sidelined Wednesday were fellow wideouts Hollywood Brown (ankle) and Skyy Moore (hamstring).

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: Expecting more deep throws

Worthy said last Thursday that he expects the Kansas City offense to provide more big plays this season, Kay Adams of FanDuel TV reports. "Coach [Andy] Reid told us during OTAs Phase 1, 'When you come back, get your hamstrings ready,'" Worthy said last week. "So, we kind of knew that we were going to be going a little deep during practice. We kind of got our bodies and our minds ready for what we're going to be doing in practice." After leading the league with an average of 9.58 adjusted yards per attempt and 8.8 yards per attempt overall in his first season as a starter back in 2018, Patrick Mahomes has seen that number dip in five of the last six seasons, cratering all the way down to a career-worst 6.8 YPA last year. But with Worthy headed into his second season and Hollywood Brown and Rashee Rice healthy again, the offense wants to produce more big plays down the field. Worthy is an exciting mid-round fantasy pick, particularly in best-ball formats.

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: Will not face charges

Worthy will not be charged following his Friday arrest in Williamson County, Texas, Tyler Davis of the Austin American-Statesman reports. Worthy was booked for assault against a family or household member by impeding their breathing or circulation, which is a third-degree felony, but after authorities spoke with witnesses, the district attorney is not accepting the case at this time. Worthy's lawyers indicated it was an attempt at extortion by Worthy's accuser. It sounds like Worthy could avoid any sort of discipline from the NFL.

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: Standout performer in SB loss

Worthy brought in all eight of his targets for 157 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 40-22 loss to the Eagles in Super Bowl LIX. Worthy ended up being the lone bright spot in terms of stat lines following Kansas City's crushing loss to Philadelphia. The 21-year-old finished with game highs in receptions, yardage and touchdowns scored for either side in what was an incredible individual performance. Worthy finished his first regular season in the pros with 742 yards from scrimmage and nine total touchdowns in 17 games. His strong play in the playoffs only reinforced the youngster's bright future as a top offensive option for the Chiefs.

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: Only WR with receptions for KC

Worthy brought in five of six targets for 45 receiving yards while losing eight yards on his only rushing attempt in Saturday's 23-14 playoff win over the Texans. Worthy was the only wideout to record a reception for Kansas City after DeAndre Hopkins, Hollywood Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster all finished with bagels in that category. It wasn't all roses for the speedy rookie after Worthy was stopped for an eight-yard loss in his only work as a rusher. Expect Worthy to serve a similar role on offense in the next round of the playoffs as the Chiefs prepare to host the AFC Championship Game next Sunday.

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: Surpasses last week's career game

Worthy recorded eight receptions for 79 yards and a touchdown on nine targets while rushing twice for 10 yards in Wednesday's 29-10 win over Pittsburgh. Fresh off recording a new career high in receptions (seven) in the Week 16 win over the Texans, Worthy bested that achievement just four days later. The versatile rookie notched his sixth touchdown reception while setting another personal best in total yards from scrimmage (89). Worthy has been riding high for managers in the fantasy playoffs, and he will attempt to finish the regular season with another quality outing against the Broncos in Week 18. He could, however, have his snaps limited and may be working without Patrick Mahomes, who is a candidate to be rested along with several other key contributors with the Chiefs having already clinched the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs.
