Player Outlook
Based on his last six meaningful games of last season including his Super Bowl romp, Worthy has the potential to be a must-start receiver in Fantasy. The only question is if he can maintain the role we saw in that small sample size: 8.7 targets and nearly two rushes per game, 89.1 total yards per game, 11.9 yards per catch on a 6.4 average depth of target, six total touchdowns, and 21.6 PPR points per game (five with 15-plus PPR points). Being that elite again seems like a stretch; Worthy's numbers are weighted heavily by his 8-157-2 stat line in Super Bowl LIX, and the depth of the Chiefs' receiving room is an obvious factor. But even a downtick to six targets per game would be decent -- he averaged 13.8 PPR points in nine regular-season games with at least six targets. That's a safe floor expectation. No one else on the Chiefs offers the speed, versatility, and youth that Worthy does, and coach Andy Reid applauded Worthy this offseason for improving his understanding of the offense, hinting that he'll play faster because of it. That's a scary thought for defenses but not Fantasy managers. He could also get off to a fast start for however long Rashee Rice is suspended for. Understand that Worthy has the downside of being a boom-or-bust Fantasy receiver, but if he clicks, he'll be a league-winner. The buy-in to risk it with Worthy will happen in Round 4 in every league.

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: Grabs one reception Friday

Worthy brought in his only target for nine receiving yards in Friday's 29-27 preseason loss to the Bears. Worthy logged his first reception of the preseason after seeing the field briefly with the rest of the starters last week against the Seahawks. The gadget receiver avoided the league's concussion protocol after going down hard in practice earlier in camp. Worthy could see an expanded role on offense this season with fellow wideout Rashee Rice expected to miss a significant chunk of the season due to an impending league suspension, Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network reports. The latter may be active for the first four games of the season until a ruling is made, but expect Worthy to operate as the team's top receiver for a good portion of the fantasy campaign.

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: Didn't have concussion

Coach Andy Reid revealed Friday that Worthy, who had been in the NFL's concussion protocol, actually didn't sustain a concussion upon further evaluation Thursday, Nate Taylor of ESPN.com reports. Worthy had exited Tuesday's practice after banging his head, but after it was determined that he was not concussed, the wideout was able to return to practice Friday. Meanwhile, fellow WRs Hollywood Brown (ankle) and Skyy Moore (hamstring) remain sidelined, per Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site.

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: Back at practice Friday

Worthy (concussion) is participating in Friday's practice, Pete Sweeney of ArrowheadPride.com reports. Worthy exited practice Tuesday and was placed in the concussion protocol, but he's advanced quickly enough through it to return to the field Friday. The second-year wideout is a candidate for a big leap this season after he and Patrick Mahomes showed improved chemistry down the stretch and into the playoffs last year. Rashee Rice is also expected to be given a multi-week suspension at some point during 2025.

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: In concussion protocol

Worthy, who is in the NFL's concussion protocol, didn't practice Wednesday, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports. Worthy banged his head during Tuesday's session and now will need to advance through concussion protocol before he rejoins practice. Also sidelined Wednesday were fellow wideouts Hollywood Brown (ankle) and Skyy Moore (hamstring).

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: Exits Tuesday's practice

Coach Andy Reid noted that Worthy exited Tuesday's practice after the wideout banged his head, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. It remains to be seen if Worthy ends up in the NFL's concussion protocol and in turn misses any time, but for now consider the wideout day-to day. Also forced to exit Tuesday's session was fellow WR Hollywood Brown, who is dealing with an ankle injury, per Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site.

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: Expecting more deep throws

Worthy said last Thursday that he expects the Kansas City offense to provide more big plays this season, Kay Adams of FanDuel TV reports. "Coach [Andy] Reid told us during OTAs Phase 1, 'When you come back, get your hamstrings ready,'" Worthy said last week. "So, we kind of knew that we were going to be going a little deep during practice. We kind of got our bodies and our minds ready for what we're going to be doing in practice." After leading the league with an average of 9.58 adjusted yards per attempt and 8.8 yards per attempt overall in his first season as a starter back in 2018, Patrick Mahomes has seen that number dip in five of the last six seasons, cratering all the way down to a career-worst 6.8 YPA last year. But with Worthy headed into his second season and Hollywood Brown and Rashee Rice healthy again, the offense wants to produce more big plays down the field. Worthy is an exciting mid-round fantasy pick, particularly in best-ball formats.

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: Will not face charges

Worthy will not be charged following his Friday arrest in Williamson County, Texas, Tyler Davis of the Austin American-Statesman reports. Worthy was booked for assault against a family or household member by impeding their breathing or circulation, which is a third-degree felony, but after authorities spoke with witnesses, the district attorney is not accepting the case at this time. Worthy's lawyers indicated it was an attempt at extortion by Worthy's accuser. It sounds like Worthy could avoid any sort of discipline from the NFL.

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: Standout performer in SB loss

Worthy brought in all eight of his targets for 157 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 40-22 loss to the Eagles in Super Bowl LIX. Worthy ended up being the lone bright spot in terms of stat lines following Kansas City's crushing loss to Philadelphia. The 21-year-old finished with game highs in receptions, yardage and touchdowns scored for either side in what was an incredible individual performance. Worthy finished his first regular season in the pros with 742 yards from scrimmage and nine total touchdowns in 17 games. His strong play in the playoffs only reinforced the youngster's bright future as a top offensive option for the Chiefs.

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: Only WR with receptions for KC

Worthy brought in five of six targets for 45 receiving yards while losing eight yards on his only rushing attempt in Saturday's 23-14 playoff win over the Texans. Worthy was the only wideout to record a reception for Kansas City after DeAndre Hopkins, Hollywood Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster all finished with bagels in that category. It wasn't all roses for the speedy rookie after Worthy was stopped for an eight-yard loss in his only work as a rusher. Expect Worthy to serve a similar role on offense in the next round of the playoffs as the Chiefs prepare to host the AFC Championship Game next Sunday.

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: Withheld from action in Week 18

Worthy didn't take the field in the regular-season finale versus the Broncos. Worthy joined a bevy of Chiefs regulars sitting out Week 18 with the Chiefs already locked into the top seed in the AFC. The rookie wideout closed out his rookie regular season with 59 catches for 638 yards and six touchdowns, and he will get an added week of rest with a bye during the wild-card round before rejoining the fray in the divisional round.

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: Surpasses last week's career game

Worthy recorded eight receptions for 79 yards and a touchdown on nine targets while rushing twice for 10 yards in Wednesday's 29-10 win over Pittsburgh. Fresh off recording a new career high in receptions (seven) in the Week 16 win over the Texans, Worthy bested that achievement just four days later. The versatile rookie notched his sixth touchdown reception while setting another personal best in total yards from scrimmage (89). Worthy has been riding high for managers in the fantasy playoffs, and he will attempt to finish the regular season with another quality outing against the Broncos in Week 18. He could, however, have his snaps limited and may be working without Patrick Mahomes, who is a candidate to be rested along with several other key contributors with the Chiefs having already clinched the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs.

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: TD among career-high seven catches

Worthy caught seven of 11 targets for 65 yards and a touchdown while rushing three times for 10 yards in Saturday's 27-19 win over the Texans. Worthy just missed catching a 24-yard touchdown pass late in the first half, failing to get his second foot down inbounds in the end zone as he tried to secure the catch. He also hurt his ankle just before halftime but returned for the second half and proceeded to set a new career high in catches while leading the team in targets, catches and receiving yards. The rookie made no mistake with another chance to score in the third quarter, recording an eight-yard touchdown reception for his eighth total touchdown through 15 games. Even with fellow speedster Hollywood Brown (shoulder) back in the fold, Worthy's poised to maintain a prominent role in Kansas City's offense against the Steelers on Christmas.

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: Returns to game

Worthy returned to start the second half after suffering an ankle injury in the second quarter of Saturday's contest against the Texans, Adam Teicher of ESPN.com reports. The speedy wide receiver ultimately didn't miss a possession after Worthy suffered an ankle injury late on the Chiefs' final drive of the first half. Worthy has six touches through the first 30 minutes of the game.

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: Solid with nine touches Sunday

Worthy brought in six of 11 targets for 46 yards and rushed three times for 30 yards and a touchdown in the Chiefs' 21-7 win over the Browns on Sunday. The Chiefs made a concerted effort to get the ball into Worthy's hands throughout the afternoon, with the rookie finishing with team-high totals in receptions, receiving yards and targets while also checking in third in rushing yards. Worthy also posted his third rushing touchdown of his career on a 21-yard run early in the second half, and his catch total was a new career high. Worthy has flashed a solid floor of late, as he'll head into a Week 16 home matchup against the Texans on Saturday afternoon with at least four receptions and 46 receiving yards in five consecutive contests.

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: Key catch on game-winning drive

Worthy caught five of six targets for 41 yards and added a five-yard run in Sunday's 19-17 win over the Chargers. Worthy made one of the game's biggest plays down the stretch, converting on third-and-10 with a 14-yard catch to extend a drive that culminated in Matthew Wright's game-winning 31-yard field goal. The rookie speedster has exceeded 40 receiving yards in four consecutive games after reaching that threshold only twice in his first nine appearances. Worthy will look to extend that streak in Week 15 against the Browns.

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: Catches five balls in Week 13 win

Worthy recorded five catches on seven targets for 54 yards in Friday's 19-17 win against the Raiders. Worthy drew the third-most targets (seven) from Patrick Mahomes, behind Travis Kelce (13) and DeAndre Hopkins (nine). He also ranked second in catches (five) and fourth in receiving yards (54) among the team's pass catchers. Worthy's reception total was a season high, and his yardage total was his third-most of the campaign. After fading during Hopkins' first three games with the club, Worthy has gotten back on track over the past three weeks, recording at least four catches and at least 46 receiving yards in each of those three games.

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: Tallies 51 yards from scrimmage

Worthy recorded four receptions on six targets for 46 yards in Sunday's 30-27 win over the Panthers. He added one rush for five yards. Worthy finished second on the team with six targets, his highest mark since Week 8. However, he continued to struggle to connect with Patrick Mahomes on deep targets, as three of his four catches went for 12 yards or fewer. Given his limited volume and lack of explosiveness, Worthy is difficult to trust despite topping 50 yards from scrimmage in consecutive games for the first time this season.

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: Minimal production again Sunday

Worthy brought in one of four targets for 11 yards in the Chiefs' 16-14 win over the Broncos on Sunday. The speedy rookie once again struggled to get on the same page with Patrick Mahomes, leading to Worthy's second-lowest reception and receiving yardage totals yet. Worthy also briefly appeared to be dealing with an arm injury in the second half but remained in the game, and he could continue struggling to make an impact against a talented Bills defense in a Week 11 road battle.

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: Struggles mightily Monday

Worthy failed to bring in either of his targets Monday, losing 10 yards on two rushing attempts in an overtime win over the Buccaneers. Worthy turned in a true negative fantasy performance after losing 10 yards on his only two touches Monday. The speedy rookie took a backseat to veteran DeAndre Hopkins (8-86-2 receiving line), and that may be a trend that continues in the second half of the season following Kansas City's big trade in Week 8. Worthy is still a key part of the offense, as evidenced by his four attempted plays Monday, and still should be considered a flex option ahead of Sunday's tilt against Denver.

  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: Sleeper WRs

DeAndre Hopkins is likely still trying to adjust to life with the Chiefs, while hopefully Worthy is starting to understand his role in Kansas City for Patrick Mahomes. Worthy has eight targets in each of his past two games against the 49ers and Raiders, and he had four catches for 37 yards and a touchdown at Las Vegas. Hopefully he'll produce at a higher level moving forward, and he has a great matchup in Week 9 against Tampa Bay. The Buccaneers are No. 5 in most Fantasy points allowed to opposing receivers, and I would use Worthy as a No. 3 Fantasy receiver in all leagues in Week 9 given the matchup.
