Eagles' Will Shipley: Placed on injured reserve
The Eagles placed Shipley (foot) on injured reserve Friday.
After being diagnosed with a partial tear of his plantar fascia earlier this week, Shipley was slated for a multi-week absence, and he now will miss at least the next four games while on IR. He'll join Tank Bigsby (abdomen) on the list, and with Saquon Barkley currently tending to a lingering hamstring injury, the Eagles currently host just two healthy RBs (Dameon Pierce and Carson Steele) on the active roster. Shipley's next chance for game action is Sunday, Nov. 22 against the Steelers.

It's not much of a surprise to see a DNP next to Shipley's name on the Eagles' first injury report of Week 6 prep, given that the third-year running back was diagnosed with a partial tear of his plantar fascia following the team's 19-17 Week 5 loss to the Jaguars in London. Eagles' Will Shipley: Could face multi-week absence
Shipley (foot) was diagnosed with a partial tear of his plantar fascia after exiting Sunday's 19-17 loss to the Jaguars in London and could be sidelined multiple weeks, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Called upon to make his second career start with Saquon Barkley (hamstring) out for Week 5 and with Tank Bigsby (core) on injured reserve, Shipley played just 13 snaps and accounted for 13 yards and a touchdown on six touches (five carries, one reception) before leaving the game in the second quarter. After his foot injury was revealed to be a plantar fascia tear, Shipley now appears likely to be sidelined for at least next Sunday's game versus Carolina. Barkley is being viewed as week-to-week, and if both he and Shipley end up missing more time, the Eagles could be left with Dameon Pierce and Carson Steele as well as practice-squad member Jaydon Blue as their backfield options for Week 6.

With Saquon Barkley (hamstring) ruled out for Week 5 and Tank Bigsby (core) landing on injured reserve, Shipley looked poised to handle a featured role out of the Philadelphia backfield. However, Shipley's day came to an end late in the second quarter, when he sustained a foot injury that will ultimately keep him from returning. The Eagles will finish out the contest with Dameon Pierce and Carson Steele as their main options out of the backfield. Shipley finished with five carries for six yards and a touchdown to go with a seven-yard reception on two targets.

Shipley was dinged up after a carry in the second quarter and visited the medical tent on the Eagles sideline before going to the locker room. He was getting most of the backfield reps in place of an absent Saquon Barkley (hamstring) before his departure, and if Shipley is unable to re-enter Sunday's contest, the Eagles backfield likely will be paced by Dameon Pierce. Shipley will lead the Eagles' backfield against the Jaguars on Week 5 due to the absences of both Saquon Barkley (hamstring) and Tank Bigsby (abdomen, IR), Chris McPherson of the Eagles' official site reports.
Barkley and Bigsby both sustained injuries during the Eagles' Week 4 loss to the Rams, and with both running backs sidelined for Week 5, the Eagles will turn to Shipley to handle RB1 duties while Dameon Pierce and Carson Steele provide backfield depth. Shipley is averaging 3.4 yards per carry though four games this season, and his work will be cut out for him against a Jaguars defense that allows the third-fewest rushing yards in the NFL (74.3).

Shipley rushed six times for 23 yards and didn't catch his only target in Sunday's 24-20 loss to the Rams. He also returned three kickoffs for 65 yards.
Shipley was the last man standing in Philadelphia's backfield after Saquon Barkley (hamstring) exited in the first quarter and Tank Bigsby (undisclosed) left in the fourth quarter.
