  • Chiefs' Jake Briningstool: Starting season on IR

    The Chiefs placed Briningstool (hamstring) on injured reserve Tuesday with a designation to return, per the NFL's transaction log. Briningstool has been working through a hamstring injury since the start of training camp, and the issue is severe enough for him to start the season on IR. He'll be required to miss the first four games of the regular season, making Week 5 against the Jaguars on Monday, Oct. 6 his first opportunity to make his 2025 debut. Briningstool signed with the Chiefs in late April as an undrafted free agent following a four-year college career at Clemson.

    Briningstool (hamstring) didn't participate in Kansas City's practice Sunday, Pete Sweeney of ArrowheadPride.com reports. Briningstool is reportedly dealing with a hamstring strain, and there's currently no timeline for his return. The 22-year-old signed with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in April and will face an uphill battle to make the team's final roster once healthy.

    Briningstool is slated to sign with Kansas City as an undrafted free agent, Pete Grathoff of The Kansas City Star reports. Briningstool is coming off a senior season at Clemson in which he caught 49 of 76 targets for 530 yards and seven touchdowns over 13 games in 2024. The tight end will look to impress with Kansas City at the team's rookie minicamp and OTAs.
