Chiefs' Brashard Smith: Limited to three carries Sunday
Rotowire
Smith rushed three times for seven yards and was not targeted as a receiver in Sunday's 28-21 loss to the Bills.
Smith failed to capitalize on the absence of Isiah Pacheco (knee), finishing the primetime loss with just three total touches. Kareem Hunt (11-49-1) finished as Kansas City's only fantasy-relevant back Sunday. With a bye week upcoming, Smith could find himself back in the No. 3 spot on the depth chart if Pacheco is ready to return for a Nov. 16 matchup against the Broncos.

Chiefs' Brashard Smith: Sleeper RBs
Rotowire
Kareem Hunt played through an ankle injury in Week 7 against Las Vegas, and the Chiefs beat the Raiders 31-0. That helped Smith get a season-high 14 carries for 39 yards and five catches for 42 yards on five targets. We don't know Hunt's status yet for Week 8 against the Commanders, but Smith might get additional playing time in tandem with Isiah Pacheco, especially if Kansas City is playing with another big lead at home. Along with that, Smith has four games in a row with at least three receptions, and he scored at least 5.1 PPR points in each outing. I like Smith as a flex option in all leagues on Monday night.

Chiefs' Brashard Smith: Uptick in usage imminent
Rotowire
Smith is poised for more work Sunday at Buffalo with Isiah Pacheco (knee) ruled out for that contest, Pete Sweeney of The Kansas City Star reports.
Pacheco wasn't able to practice this week due to the right MCL sprain that he sustained during Monday's win against the Commanders. Kareem Hunt is the obvious player to help fill the void in Pacheco's absence, but Smith also should benefit in what has been mostly a two-pronged Chiefs backfield this season. While Smith hasn't been very productive on the ground through the first eight games of his career (25 carries for 75 yards), the rookie seventh-round pick has hauled in 14 of 18 targets for 122 yards. He's also still in search of his first TD as a pro.

Chiefs' Brashard Smith: Week 9 Waiver Priority List
Rotowire
Isiah Pacheco (knee) is considered week-to-week, which is a boost for Kareem Hunt and Smith. I would expect Hunt to be the primary running back with Pacheco out, but Smith should get an uptick in playing time and production, which could make him a flex play in the majority of leagues. While sharing touches with Pacheco and Hunt, Smith had already scored at least 5.1 PPR points in five of his past six games heading into Week 9. That number should increase, and Smith could help Fantasy managers for as long as Pacheco is out. Smith is worth adding in all leagues for 5-10 percent of your remaining FAB.

Chiefs' Brashard Smith: Week 8 Adds (RB Preview)
Rotowire
Smith has yet to get going on the ground but he already has at least three catches in four of his last five games and should see an increase in snaps if Isiah Pacheco is out. The Bills are giving up 5.26 yards per carry to running backs and they have given up nine rushing touchdowns to the position, the second most in the league.

Chiefs' Brashard Smith: Trio of carries Monday night
Rotowire
Smith accrued three rushes for eight yards during Monday's 28-7 win against the Commanders.
Smith remains a depth back for the Chiefs, but his lack of involvement as a receiver out of the backfield is a bit disappointing. Monday's effort marks the first time since Week 1 that Smith wasn't targeted and the first time since Week 3 that he didn't record a reception. The rookie back played just nine offensive snaps Monday but could see a bit more run should Isiah Pacheco's MCL injury cost him some time.

Chiefs' Brashard Smith: Week 8 Adds (RB Preview)
Rotowire
Smith played a season-high 34.6% of the offensive snaps in a Week 7 blowout, and the Chiefs are once again double-digit point favorites. He has been legitimately good as a receiver, averaging 8.7 yards per reception, and could have some long-term upside if he gets more comfortable running between the tackles.

Chiefs' Brashard Smith: Gets involved in blowout
Rotowire
Smith carried 14 times for 39 yards and hauled in all five targets for 42 yards during Sunday's 31-0 win against the Raiders.
Smith logged more than four totes for the first time in his career Sunday, and he didn't really prove he's worthy of more, averaging just 2.8 yards per carry. The increased workload was likely a direct result of the contest turning into a laugher relatively early; the Chiefs took a 21-0 lead into halftime and led 31-0 after the third quarter. Isiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt remain squarely ahead of Smith in the pecking order, but Smith's receiving skills have allowed him to carve out a role in the backfield.

Chiefs' Brashard Smith: Recovered from illness
Rotowire
Smith (illness) was a full participant in practice Thursday.
Smith didn't practice Wednesday due to an illness but was back at full speed the following day. He's a distant third option in Kansas City's backfield behind Isiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt, contributing primarily as a pass catcher in the few snaps Smith sees. That role is unlikely to change Sunday against the Raiders.

Chiefs' Brashard Smith: Nabs three passes
Rotowire
Smith didn't record a carry but reeled in three of his four targets for 21 yards during Sunday's 30-17 victory versus Detroit.
Smith claimed just six total offensive snaps in this contest and has totaled double-digit offensive snaps just once all season. He remains a reliable weapon as a receiver out of the backfield, handling three catches in each of the last three tilts, but he failed to register a carry Sunday for the first time since the season opener versus the Chargers. Smith converted from wide receiver to running back late in his career at SMU, so it shouldn't be shocking that he excels in the receiving department. The rookie primarily remains a speculative hold in dynasty formats at this juncture.

Chiefs' Brashard Smith: Four touches against Jaguars
Rotowire
Smith carried the ball once for four yards and caught all three of his targets for 32 yards in Monday's 31-28 loss to the Jaguars.
Smith played just six of the Chiefs 64 offensive snaps Monday, behind both Isiah Pacheco (40) and Kareem Hunt (21). The coaching staff has made an effort to give the rookie more opportunities, though his minimal playing time is limiting his ability to truly make a difference on the stat sheet. It is encouraging, however, that Smith saw four touches in his six snaps, showing that the coaching staff is making an effort to get him involved. The SMU product's playmaking ability and pass-catching skills should continue to earn him more playing time as the season goes on, especially with both Pacheco and Hunt struggling to get much going on the ground. Smith will have his next opportunity to take a step forward in Kansas City's offense when the Chiefs host the Lions in Week 6.

Chiefs' Brashard Smith: Week 5 Waiver Priority List
Rotowire
Smith had a season-high four carries in Week 4 against Baltimore for 9 yards and three catches for 27 yards on four targets. The Chiefs tried to get Smith involved early against the Ravens, but he didn't do anything spectacular. That said, he could be in line for more work with Isiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt struggling, and Smith is worth stashing in deeper leagues for 1 percent of your remaining FAB.

Chiefs' Brashard Smith: Handles two carries against Giants
Rotowire
Smith rushed twice for 13 yards and failed to reel in his lone target in Sunday's 22-9 win over the Giants.
Smith played just eight of the Chiefs' 72 offensive snaps, well behind both Isiah Pacheco (40) and Kareem Hunt (32). The rookie running back continues to be mostly an afterthought in Kansas City's struggling offense, however the struggles of both Pacheco and Hunt could eventually lead to more playing time for the dynamic SMU product. At the moment, however, it appears the Chiefs coaching staff wants the veterans to handle the majority of the backfield work with a near even split, capping the potential upside of all three backs. Smith will look to get more involved in Week 3 when the Chiefs host the Ravens.

Chiefs' Brashard Smith: Contributes in return game
Rotowire
Smith returned two kickoffs for 63 yards during Kansas City's 27-21 loss to the Chargers on Friday night.
Smith impressed in the return game Week 1, but the rookie seventh-round pick wasn't called upon to handle any actual carries, and he played just eight percent of offensive snaps. Still, it's encouraging to Smith's prospects that Elijah Mitchell was a healthy scratch Friday. Smith figures to operate as the No. 3 running back behind Isiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt again in Week 2 against the Eagles.

Chiefs' Brashard Smith: Five touches to open preseason
Rotowire
Smith (finger) rushed four times for 10 yards and brought in his only target for minus-6 yards in the Chiefs' 20-17 preseason loss to the Cardinals on Saturday night.
The rookie seventh-round pick has an uphill battle for a roster spot, but considering his 1,332-yard season at SMU last season, there's some intriguing potential. Smith led the Chiefs in carries on a night where a total of seven non-quarterbacks logged at least one rush attempt. Smith will continue his quest to make an impression during the Chiefs' second preseason game, which comes Friday night on the road against the Seahawks.

Chiefs' Brashard Smith: Mixing in with starters a bit
Rotowire
Kansas City's first-team offense featured a "sprinkling" of Smith on Thursday, according to Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com.
Derrick notes that Isiah Pacheco, Kareem Hunt and Elijah Mitchell got more first-team reps, which shouldn't be surprising given that all three have experience as NFL starters. Smith is merely a rookie seventh-round pick, but he's probably the most natural pass catcher of the bunch and isn't far behind Pacheco in terms of pure speed (4.39 40 at the 2025 Combine). While he may have been disappointed with lasting until the final round of the draft, Smith now has a chance to compete for touches immediately, joining a quality offense with a below-average RB group.
The Chiefs selected Smith in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 228th overall.
Smith is an intriguing prospect. He had considerable pedigree as a four-star wide receiver and was a special-teams standout with Miami before transferring to SMU for his final collegiate season. He converted to running back with the Mustangs and totaled 1,659 yards from scrimmage with 14 touchdowns. It's difficult to get too excited about the potential for a seventh-round selection to immediately contribute, but Smith will be on a historically strong offense with a relatively open backfield.
