The track record for late Round 1 QBs is far from encouraging, but most have at least received an opportunity to prove themselves on an NFL field. Dart's collegiate data profile suggests that he might find success if given playing time. His passing profile looks stellar, with a caveat that Lane Kiffin's scheme probably boosts efficiency in a significant way. Dart's rushing is the overlooked factor -- he was used a ton as a designed rusher, and he averaged more yards per run on a higher number of career scrambles than Jalen Milroe. Among QBs selected in Rounds 1-3 since 2017, Dart ranked 10th in yards per scramble, just behind Justin Fields. He rushed for over 1,500 career yards, and his avoided tackle rate and yards after contact per rush were both above Josh Allen's career rates. As a rookie, he'll be paired with Allen's former coach Brian Daboll. Dart will open the season as either the second or third-string QB on the Giants and is not worth anything more than a bench stash in Superflex/two-QB formats.

Giants' Jaxson Dart: Shines again in preseason
Rotowire
Dart completed six of 12 passes for 81 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's 42-10 preseason win over New England, adding one carry for 23 yards.
He played the first four drives, two of which resulted in touchdowns, although one of those was thrown by Jameis Winston after Dart took a hard hit and was evaluated for a concussion. Dart cleared protocol, with Giants coach Brian Daboll saying afterward that the rookie merely had the wind knocked out of him, per Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site. Daboll has made it clear that Russell Wilson will be his Week 1 starter, but any struggles for the 36-year-old inevitably will lead to calls for Dart, who finished his inaugural preseason completing 32 of 47 passes for 372 yards (7.9 YPA) and three TDs, with no turnovers and two sacks. He also had six carries for 52 yards and a TD, showing an element of his game that may be crucial for fantasy value whenever he ends up making starts.

Giants' Jaxson Dart: Nearly perfect in second exhibition
Rotowire
Dart completed 14 of 16 passes for 137 yards and one touchdown in the Giants' 31-12 exhibition win over the Jets on Saturday. He also rushed two times for five yards and a second touchdown.
After Dart completed 12 of 19 throws for 154 yards and one touchdown in his preseason debut last week, the first-round rookie followed it up with a nearly perfect performance. Dart's touchdown toss was a 20-yard hookup with Greg Dulcich in the second quarter. He followed it up with a one-yard rushing score before halftime. Dart was the second quarterback in the game for the G-Men after Russell Wilson made the start. Following the performance, coach Brian Daboll reiterated that Wilson is the team's starting quarterback headed into the season, Evan Barnes of Newsday reports. Dart, however, is a good bet to make rookie-year starts and is worth a late-round pick in best-ball formats.

Giants' Jaxson Dart: Tosses TD in preseason debut
Rotowire
Dart completed 12 of 19 passes for 154 yards and a touchdown while adding 24 rushing yards on three carries in Saturday's 34-25 preseason win over the Bills.
The rookie quarterback led the Giants in both passing yards and rushing yards on the afternoon, as Dart took over from Russell Wilson for the team's second drive of the game and then played the rest of the first half. Three of Dart's four drives put points on the board, with the highlight of his performance being a 29-yard touchdown strike to Lil'Jordan Humphrey early in the second quarter. The 25th overall pick in the 2025 Draft, Dart will begin the regular season on the bench while Wilson runs the offense, but the transition to New York's potential new franchise QB could happen sooner than expected if the Giants stumble out of the gate.

Giants' Jaxson Dart: Not in contention to start
Rotowire
Giants coach Brian Daboll named Russell Wilson the team's clear-cut starting quarterback Wednesday, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
This news doesn't come as a surprise after New York signed Wilson to a one-year contract in March. Still, it dispels any notion that Dart -- whom the Giants selected 25th overall in April's NFL Draft -- could push for the starting job even with a strong preseason. It sounds like New York is content to allow the rookie out of Ole Miss to develop as an observer during his first NFL campaign, as GM Joe Schoen said of Dart on Wednesday that "there's some real benefits from sitting and learning specifically from some of the guys in the room that have the experience that they have," referring to Wilson and Jameis Winston, who was also signed as a free agent during the offseason. Dart did log one first-team rep during the first day of training camp, but Wilson took the remaining reps with the starting offense and shined, throwing multiple TDs to top wideout Malik Nabers.

Giants' Jaxson Dart: Working as QB2 in OTAs
Rotowire
Dart has typically been the second quarterback to mix in for the Giants at OTAs, behind Russell Wilson and ahead of Jameis Winston, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
Wilson is the clear starter, having taken all but a few first-team reps thus far, while Dart and Winston have been splitting second-team opportunities. Dart has shown impressive touch on his throws, but the rookie 25th overall pick is likely to begin his career in a backup role. The Giants could turn to Dart if they fall out of contention or Wilson struggles, and the team's difficult early schedule raises the likelihood of those scenarios.
