Surratt is healthy again after having sat out the team's preseason opener last week with an undisclosed injury.   Surratt (undisclosed) did not play in Saturday's 30-9 preseason loss to the Broncos, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports. Surratt is dealing with an undisclosed injury, which forced him to miss the team's preseason opener with Denver. Head coach Kyle Shanahan did not mention Surratt while he was naming players Sunday who "could" return Saturday versus the Raiders, so Surratt may be dealing with more than a minor injury.

• Jets' Chazz Surratt: Sees more defensive work in 2024

  Surratt recorded 28 total tackles (18 solo) over 17 games in 2024. The 2021 third-round pick from North Carolina played a career-high 127 defensive snaps during the regular season after playing just nine defensive snaps over his first three seasons in the NFL. Surratt logged 15 or more defensive snaps in four games this year, recording 11 total tackles in those contests. He's set to become a restricted free agent this summer, giving the Jets the option to match any contract he receives from other teams. If Surratt remains with the Jets in 2025, he's expected to serve as one of the team's top reserve inside linebackers.

Surratt sustained a hamstring injury during the Jets' preseason opener, but it evidently wasn't severe enough to keep him out for Week 1 of the regular season. The 2021 third-rounder has yet to play an NFL snap on defense.
