Garrett Griffin: Goes back to practice squad
Griffin reverted back to the Lions' practice squad Monday.
Griffin saw his first action of the 2022 season, playing 10 snaps on offense and another seven on special teams. Considering the Lions have spread the ball around to all three of the tight ends on the active roster, it's possible the long-time Saints target could carve out a target or two down the stretch, provided he's activated once more.

Lions' Garrett Griffin: Gets call to active roster
The Lions elevated Griffin to the active roster Friday for Saturday's game against the Panthers.
Griffin has yet to play this season, but he'll have a chance to see the field in Week 16 after getting called up to the active roster. Last year, he made 13 appearances for the Saints and caught all four of his targets for 39 yards, but given the Lions' fully healthy tight end corps, it's likely Griffin operates primarily on special teams against Carolina.

Garrett Griffin: Lands on practice squad
Detroit signed Griffin to the practice squad Wednesday, Tim Twentyman of the team's official site reports.
The Lions cut Griffin back in mid-August, but he now returns in an emergency reserve role. The four-year veteran is a capable blocker and suited up for 13 games with the Saints last season.

Garrett Griffin: Cut loose Monday
The Lions released Griffin on Monday.
Detroit signed Griffin as a free agent in March after the Saints chose not to tender him earlier in the month. The 28-year-old missed the final four games of the 2021 season after being placed on New Orleans' IR with a hamstring injury in Week 15. Griffin has recorded five career receptions since joining the Saints in 2017, and he will now look to sign with a new team in need of tight-end depth this preseason.

Lions' Garrett Griffin: Signs with Detroit
Griffin agreed to a contract with the Lions on Thursday, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Griffin appeared in a career-high 13 games with the Saints in 2021 and hauled in all four of his targets for 39 yards. He wasn't tendered a contract by New Orleans in early March but will attempt to carve out a depth role with the Lions in 2022.

Griffin (hamstring) was designated to return from injured reserve Wednesday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
The Saints will now have 21 days to either activate the tight end or leave him on the IR to end the season, though it may not matter considering they're on the outside looking in when it comes to making the playoffs. Griffin has been out since Dec. 18 while dealing with the hamstring issue, playing in all 13 of the Saints' games prior to the injury while making four catches for 39 yards.

The Saints are hopeful that Griffin will be able to return in three weeks for the regular-season finale versus the Falcons. Nick Vannett and Juwan Johnson are now the only two healthy tight ends on the roster.
