  • Eagles' Zack Baun: Disappointing showing in Week 6

Baun logged six tackles (three solo) in Thursday's 34-17 loss to the Giants. Baun was on the field for 94 percent of defensive snaps, the first time this season he wasn't on the field for every play. It was also his least productive performance of the season in what was poor all-around showing from the Eagles.

  • Eagles' Zack Baun: Secures 12 tackles in loss

Baun recorded 12 total tackles (seven solo), including 1.0 sacks, in Sunday's 21-17 loss to the Broncos. Baun was able to reach double-digit stops for the first time this season after doing so eight times during the 2024 regular season. He was also able to get to Bo Nix in the fourth quarter, registering a sack for the second straight week. Through five games this season, the linebacker has compiled 42 total tackles (26 solo), including 2.0 sacks, while also adding an interception and a forced fumble.

  • Eagles' Zack Baun: Practices Thursday

Baun (knee) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice. Baun returned to practice after missing Wednesday's session due to a knee injury that he likely picked up during the Eagles' Week 3 win over the Rams. His practice participation Friday will indicate his chances of playing in Sunday's road tilt against the Buccaneers. The 2020 third-rounder has registered 22 tackles (14 solo) and three pass defenses (one interception) through the first three games of the regular season.

  • Eagles' Zack Baun: DNP due to knee issue

Baun didn't practice Wednesday, as he's dealing with a knee injury. Baun was wearing a knee brace Wednesday, per Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia, but it's unclear how serious his knee issue is at the moment. The talented linebacker has played nearly every defensive snap for the Eagles through three weeks and has racked up 22 tackles and one interception, so it would be a big blow to the Eagles' defense if he needs to miss any time. Baun's practice status the remainder of the week should provide more clarity about whether he's at any risk of missing Sunday's matchup against the Buccaneers.

  • Eagles' Zack Baun: Returns to practice

Baun (back) will be a limited participant in Saturday's training camp practice, Martin Frank of The Delaware News Journal reports. Baun has been sidelined with a back contusion since late July, but he has progressed enough in his recovery to return to practice, albeit in a limited capacity. If he can increase his practice reps over the coming week, that would put him in a good spot to suit up for the Eagles' second preseason game against the Browns on Saturday, Aug. 16. Baun signed a three-year, $51 million contract with the Eagles in March after a career year in 2024, finishing with 151 tackles (93 solo), including 3.5 sacks, four pass defenses (one interception), five forced fumbles and one fumble recovery across 16 regular-season games.

  • Eagles' Zack Baun: Dealing with back contusion

Baun (back) will not practice Tuesday, Eliot Shorr-Parks of Sports Radio 94 WIP Philadelphia reports. Baun will log his first absence of training camp due to a back injury, paving the way for rookie first-round pick Jihaad Campbell to handle increased first-team reps. Fresh off a career year in which he tallied 151 total tackles (93 solo), including 3.5 sacks, across 16 regular-season games, Baun returned to Philadelphia via a three-year, $51 million contract this offseason and is primed to repeat as a premier IDP option at linebacker for 2025. As such, it will be no surprise if the Eagles opt to take a cautious approach to the 28-year-old's health at this stage of the summer.

  • Eagles' Zack Baun: Paces Philadelphia in tackles

Baun recorded eight total tackles (three solo), including one tackle for loss, in Sunday's 34-6 win over the Cowboys. Baun led the Eagles' defense in total tackles for the third consecutive game Sunday, bringing his season total up to 81 stops. The first-year Eagle has already doubled his previous season high in tackles through nine games this season, also tying his previous bests in sacks (2.0) and passes passes defended (two). Expect Baun to continue making plays for Philadelphia's defense as the year progresses.

  • Eagles' Zack Baun: Eagles' leading tackler in win

Baun recorded 12 tackles (eight solo) and a forced fumble during Sunday's 37-17 win at Cincinnati. Baun's forced fumble came late in the fourth quarter and was recovered by fellow linebacker Nakobe Dean to essentially put Sunday's win on ice. He's in the midst of a career year and is a great IDP option going into a Week 9 showdown versus the Jaguars.

  • Eagles' Zack Baun: Returns to practice Thursday

Baun (shoulder) was a full participant during Thursday's practice session. Baun injured his shoulder during Sunday's game against the Giants, which kept him out of Wednesday's practice. It doesn't appear to be a serious injury, however, as Baun was able to practice without limitations Thursday. Barring any setbacks, the 2020 third-round pick should be good to go against the Bengals on Sunday. Baun leads the Eagles with 57 combined tackles through the first six games of the regular season.

  • Eagles' Zack Baun: Doesn't practice Wednesday

Baun (shoulder) was listed as a non-participant in Wednesday's practice. Baun injured his shoulder during the fourth quarter of Sunday's win over the Giants, and he finished the contest with six tackles (four solo). The 2020 third-round pick will have two more chances to return to practice ahead of Sunday's game against the Bengals. Baun is up to a team-leading 57 combined tackles through the first six games of the regular season.

  • Eagles' Zack Baun: Double-digit tackles vs. Saints

Baun recorded 13 total tackles (nine solo) during Sunday's 15-12 win over the Saints. Baun has had an impressive start to his Eagles tenure, recording 37 total tackles, including 2.0 sacks, across Philadelphia's first three games. The Wisconsin product ranks second in the NFL in total tackles thus far, trailing only Nick Cross, who has 39 stops. Expect Baun to continue being a tackling machine and an extremely valuable IDP asset as the season progresses.

  • Eagles' Zack Baun: Monster night in Brazil

Baun compiled 15 total tackles (11 solo), including 2.0 sacks, in Friday's 34-29 win over the Packers in Brazil. Baun had quite the debut with the Eagles after signing with the team in March, leading Philadelphia in tackles. The 2.0 sacks matched his career total over his four years with New Orleans. With Devin White (ankle) unavailable, Baun took on some added workload at interior linebacker and made the most of his opportunity.

  • Eagles' Zack Baun: Working with first team

Baun worked with Philadelphia's first-team defense for the fourth day in a row Monday, Brandon Lee Gowton of BGN Radio reports. Baun agreed to a one-year deal with the Eagles earlier this offseason, and it now appears that he's got a real chance to start at inside linebacker. The 2020 third-round pick out of Wisconsin started just 14 games during his four seasons in New Orleans, but it seems that he is winning the positional battle against Nakobe Dean and could be lining up alongside Devin White in the Eagles' linebacker corps in 2024.

  • Eagles' Zack Baun: Heading to Philly

Baun and the Eagles agreed on a one-year contract Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Baun will head to Philadelphia after spending the first four seasons of his career with the Saints. The linebacker recorded 30 tackles, including 2.0 sacks, while adding an interception among two passes defensed over 17 games in 2023.

  • Saints' Zack Baun: Participating in OTAs

Baun (ankle) participated in the Saints' OTAs on Tuesday, John Hendrix of Sports Illustrated reports. Baun was placed on injured reserve in December due to an ankle injury but is now back in action. The 26-year-old recorded 16 tackles (11 solo) in 13 games last season and could be in line to start at strong-side linebacker for the Saints heading into the upcoming campaign.

  • Saints' Zack Baun: Going to IR

New Orleans placed Baun (ankle) on its injured reserve list Saturday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports. Baun will have to sit out for the remainder of the regular season as he recovers from an ankle injury he sustained in Week 13 at Tampa Bay. The Saints will probably be forced to lean more heavily on Kaden Elliss at linebacker in the absence of the 2020 third-rounder.

  • Saints' Zack Baun: Looking good in new role

Baun logged five tackles, including one tackle for loss, and a pass deflection during Saturday's preseason opener against the Ravens. After playing on the strong side during his rookie year, Baun seemed to be a more natural fit at weak-side linebacker during last weekend's preseason opener. While he may not be much of an IDP prospect as long as he has to rotate with Kwon Alexander and second-round rookie Pete Werner (leg), that could change if Werner continues to miss time and/or something happens to Alexander, who's bouncing back from an Achilles injury that ended his 2020 campaign.

  • Saints' Zack Baun: Shifting to weakside linebacker

Baun will compete for the starting job at weakside linebacker in training camp, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports. The 2020 third-round pick worked on the strongside as a rookie but played only 82 defensive snaps. Baun could earn a larger role in 2021 with a strong showing in camp, though Demario Davis should remain the leader of the unit.

  • Saints' Zack Baun: Bayou bound

The Saints selected Baun in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft, 74th overall. The Wisconsin product was billed as a potential first-round selection, so this is a nice value for the Saints, who traded up with the Browns to get him. Baun was a monster off the edge for the Badgers, racking up 12.5 sacks and 19.5 tackles for loss as a senior. He has athleticism as well, showing out at the combine with a 4.65-second 40-yard dash. Baun can be used as a pass rusher or he can play off-ball linebacker. He missed the 2017 season due to a foot injury but started all 27 games in his last two years.
