Davis has decided to retire from the NFL, per his agent Deiric Jackson, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reports.

  • 49ers' Khalil Davis: Works past knee issue

Davis (knee) was not listed on the 49ers' injury report Wednesday.

Davis was unable to play in the 49ers' Week 15 loss to the Rams due to a knee injury. However, that no longer appears to be an issue for the veteran defensive tackle as he was a full participant in the 49ers' first official practice of the week. Unless he suffers a setback, Davis should be able to suit up Sunday against the Dolphins.

  • 49ers' Khalil Davis: Not suiting up Thursday

Davis (knee) is inactive for Thursday Night Football against the Rams, Lindsey Pallares of the 49ers' official site reports.

The defensive tackle was traded to the 49ers by the Texans for a 2026 seventh-round pick Nov. 5, and he has played on 36 defensive snaps since then, making three tackles (one solo). Maliek Collins and Jordan Elliott are San Francisco's starting defensive tackles.

The Texans traded Davis to the 49ers on Tuesday in exchange for a 2026 seventh-round pick, Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports.

Davis served in a rotational depth role at defensive tackle for the Texans through the first nine games of the regular season, and over that span he logged nine tackles (six solo), including 1.0 sacks. He'll likely play a similar role with the 49ers while operating behind starters Maliek Collins and Jordan Elliott.
