  • Buccaneers' Vita Vea: Workload boost in '25 season

Vea recorded 34 tackles (16 solo), including 4.5 sacks, two defensed passes and one fumble recovery across 17 regular-season games in 2025.

The mammoth defensive tackle logged a whopping 760 snaps on defense while playing a full season's worth of games for the first time since 2019. Vea still saw a drop in his sack production after recording a career-high 7.0 QB takedowns in 2024, while his tackle tally was also his lowest over the last three seasons. Nevertheless, Vea remained a key cog on the Buccaneers' defensive front, and he remains under contract through the 2026 season at a cap hit of $22.2 million, per Spotrac.

  • Buccaneers' Vita Vea: Good to go for Week 11

Vea (back) has no injury designation ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Bills, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.

The Buccaneers' starting nose tackle upgraded from a limited practice session Thursday to a full-go Friday, indicating that he has moved past his back injury enough to play in Sunday's road contest with the Bills. Cleared to play, the 347-pound Vea will likely be a large part of the Buccaneers' plan to stop Bills running back James Cook.

  • Buccaneers' Vita Vea: Working through back issue

Vea (back) was a limited participant in Wednesday's walkthrough practice.

Vea may have tweaked his back during the Buccaneers' Week 10 loss to the Patriots, when he posted two tackles (one solo) while playing 54 snaps (48 on defense, six on special teams). The veteran defensive tackle will have two more chances to increase his practice participation and avoid an injury designation for Sunday's game against Buffalo.

  • Buccaneers' Vita Vea: Cleared to play Week 8

Vea (foot) is active for Sunday's game against the Saints, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.

Vea missed the final two practices of the week due to a foot injury, but he has been cleared to play in Sunday's NFC South tilt after going through pregame warmups without suffering a setback. The eighth-year pro has 17 tackles (eight solo), including 2.5 sacks, and one fumble recovery through the first seven games of the regular season.

  • Buccaneers' Vita Vea: Questionable but expected to play

Vea (foot) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Saints, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Despite the questionable tag, Vea is expected to play against New Orleans, according to Stroud. Vea has started all seven games to this point and has recorded 17 tackles (eight solo), including 2.5 sacks, and one fumble recovery on 75 percent of the defensive snaps.

  • Buccaneers' Vita Vea: Dealing with foot injury

Vea (foot) did not participate in Thursday's practice.

Vea was able to participate in Wednesday's walkthrough, so the foot injury he's working through may be a recent issue rather than one he picked up during Monday's loss to the Lions. Friday's practice report will provide more clarity on Vea's chances of playing Sunday against the Saints. If he's not cleared to play, then Elijah Simmons, C.J. Brewer and Greg Gaines (toe) would be in line to see more snaps on the defensive line in Week 8.

  • Buccaneers' Vita Vea: Trio of tackles in win

Vea recorded three tackles (two solo) in the Buccaneers' 20-19 win over the Texans on Monday night.

Vea played a robust 41 snaps (84 percent) during the narrow victory and put together a solid performance that saw him tie for fourth on the team in tackles. It's been a relatively quiet start to the season overall for the two-time Pro Bowler, who opened the campaign with a two-tackle tally against the Falcons in Week 1.

  • Buccaneers' Vita Vea: Cleared to play Week 1

Vea (foot) is active for Sunday's regular-season opener against the Falcons.

Vea missed the Bucs' first two practices of the week due to a foot injury. He managed to draw the questionable tag after logging a full practice Friday, and the veteran defensive lineman has done enough to be cleared to play Sunday. Vea is coming off a 2024 season in which he logged a career-high 7.0 sacks across 16 regular-season games.

  • Buccaneers' Vita Vea: Spotted at practice Friday

Vea (foot) returned to practice Friday, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Vea didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday but was in attendance Friday. Head coach Todd Bowles said Vea is "trending in the right direction" regarding the defensive tackle's potential availability for Sunday's regular-season opener against the Falcons, per Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site. Vea's practice participation level will be clarified on Friday's injury report, which will also reveal whether he carries an injury designation into Tampa Bay's Week 1 contest.
