  • Commanders' Jeremy McNichols: Sleeper RBs

Seattle leads the NFL in receptions allowed to running backs with 47, and eight running backs this season have scored at least 5.2 PPR points with just their receiving totals alone against the Seahawks. McNichols just had five catches for 64 yards on six targets in Week 8 at Kansas City, and he could be needed in the passing game with Terry McLaurin (quadriceps) out. He's a good flex option in PPR given his expected role in Week 9.

  • Commanders' Jeremy McNichols: Paces pass catchers in loss

McNichols rushed once for four yards and brought in five of six targets for 64 yards in the Commanders' 28-7 loss to the Chiefs on Monday night. The veteran running back was once again minimally involved on the ground, but he posted team-high and season-best reception and receiving yardage totals. McNichols also tied for the team lead in targets while setting a new season-long high-water mark in that category, and he projects to remain in a similar role irrespective of who's under center for the Commanders in a Week 9 home matchup against the Seahawks on Sunday night.

  • Commanders' Jeremy McNichols: Four touches vs. Dallas

McNichols rushed twice for 22 yards and caught two of three targets for 23 yards in Sunday's 44-22 loss to the Cowboys. The Boise State product logged 21 offensive snaps and operated as Washington's No. 2 running back in the Week 7 loss, playing behind rookie Jacory Croskey-Merritt (33 snaps) but ahead of Chris Rodriguez (nine snaps). McNichols also led the Commanders' backfield in targets and receptions, serving as the team's primary pass-catching back. He's expected to maintain a similar role in the team's Week 8 matchup again Chiefs.

  • Commanders' Jeremy McNichols: Totals 35 yards versus Chicago

McNichols rushed two times for five yards and caught three of four targets for 30 yards in Monday night's loss to the Bears. McNichols played 32 percent of the offensive snaps and set new season highs in targets, catches and receiving yards against the Bears. The Commanders appear to have settled on Jacory Croskey-Merritt as the lead ball-carrier on early downs with McNichols as the passing-down back, as Chris Rodriguez played just one offensive snap and didn't touch the ball Monday night.

  • Commanders' Jeremy McNichols: Logs 18 yards in Week 5

McNichols rushed once for six yards and caught one of two targets for 12 yards in Sunday's 27-10 win over the Chargers. The Boise State product has now tallied just five touches over the Commanders' last two games, suggesting he's operating as the team's No. 3 running back. Although McNichols played more offensive snaps than Chris Rodriguez (14-13), he recorded three fewer touches. Additionally, rookie Jacory Croskey-Merritt broke out for 150 total yards on 16 touches, further cementing McNichols' status as a reserve option. He's likely to have a similar role in the Week 6 matchup against the Bears, playing primarily on passing downs.

  • Commanders' Jeremy McNichols: Logs three touches vs. Falcons

McNichols rushed two times for three yards and caught one of two targets for no yards in Sunday's 34-27 loss to the Falcons. The veteran back played fewer offensive snaps (17) than Chris Rodriguez (20) and matched Jacory Croskey-Merritt (17) in Sunday's loss. McNichols also received fewer touches than both Rodriguez (seven) and Croskey-Merritt (nine), suggesting he's firmly behind them in the Commanders' backfield rotation. He's likely to remain a depth option, working primarily on passing downs, in Washington's Week 5 matchup against the Chargers.

  • Commanders' Jeremy McNichols: Week 4 Waiver Priority List

McNichols had the highlight play of the Commanders backfield in Week 3 against Las Vegas with a 60-yard touchdown, which was the longest touchdown run by a Washington player since Steven Sims in Week 5 of the 2019 season, per Commanders reporter Ben Standig. But this backfield will be messy with McNichols, Jacory Croskey-Merritt and Chris Rodriguez Jr. all sharing playing time, and McNichols played the fewest snaps of the three against the Raiders with 15 compared to 23 for Croskey-Merritt and 22 for Rodriguez. We'll see what happens moving forward since this was the first game without Austin Ekeler (Achilles), but Jayden Daniels (knee) was also out. Only Croskey-Merritt had a catch on one target, which is something to monitor as well. For now, you can speculate on McNichols for 1 percent of your remaining FAB.

  • Commanders' Jeremy McNichols: Busts out for big TD in win

McNichols carried the ball four times for 78 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 41-24 win over the Raiders. The Commanders rolled with a backfield committee in the wake of Austin Ekeler (Achilles) being lost for the season, and while McNichols saw fewer carries than Chris Rodriguez (11 for 39 yards) and rookie Jacory Croskey-Merritt (eight for 26 yards and a TD), he made the biggest impact with a 60-yard romp to the end zone in the second quarter that put Washington in the lead for good. The score was his first of the season after he racked up four rushing TDs on 55 carries over 17 regular-season games in 2024 before adding another on just five totes in the playoffs. Given the offense's success in the win, McNichols' role and volume may not change much in Week 4 against the Falcons.

  • Commanders' Jeremy McNichols: Back to full practice

McNichols (hamstring) was a full participant in Thursday's practice. McNichols' hamstring issue is evidently minor, as he's back at practice in a full capacity. With Austin Ekeler (Achilles) set to miss the remainder of the season, McNichols appears to be the next man up as the Commanders' third-down and long-down-and-distance running back after handling 16 offensive snaps following Ekeler's injury last Thursday. McNichols is unlikely to be fantasy relevant.

  • Commanders' Jeremy McNichols: Listed as limited

McNichols was a limited practice participant Wednesday due to a hamstring injury. McNichols wasn't listed on the injury report last week, when he took 20 percent of snaps but finished without a touch in a 27-18 loss to the Packers on Thursday. Fellow running back Austin Ekeler suffered an Achilles tear in the fourth quarter, opening up room for McNichols to get more work moving forward, though likely as part of a three-man backfield with Jacory Croskey-Merritt and Chris Rodriguez. A hamstring injury could complicate things, but McNichols still has a few more chances to practice in full before Sunday's matchup with the Raiders.

  • Commanders' Jeremy McNichols: Week 3 Waiver Priority List

Austin Ekeler (Achilles) is out for the season and, barring another running back of significance added to the roster, Washington will likely go with Jacory Croskey-Merritt, Chris Rodriguez and McNichols as the main options in the backfield. Croskey-Merritt gets a bump in value without Ekeler, but McNichols will likely take Ekeler's role in the passing game. I wouldn't expect many touches, but the Commanders probably trust McNichols more in pass protection than Croskey-Merritt heading into Week 3. And Rodriguez, for now, seems to be more of a backup to Croskey-Merritt. McNichols is only worth adding for up to 5 percent of your remaining FAB.

  • Commanders' Jeremy McNichols: Handles four carries in win

McNichols rushed four times for 25 yards in Sunday's 21-6 win over the Giants. McNichols played 13 of the Commanders' 70 offensive snaps in the contest, operated as the No. 3 running back behind Austin Ekeler (33) and Jacory Croskey-Merritt (23). With limited opportunities, McNichols will continue to struggle to record meaningful stats for fantasy going forward, barring injuries to Ekeler, Croskey-Merritt or Chris Rodriguez, who was a healthy scratch in Week 1. The Commanders are set to square off against the Packers in Week 2.

  • Commanders' Jeremy McNichols: Stuffed in preseason finale

McNichols took three carries for a loss of four yards in Saturday's 30-3 preseason loss to Baltimore. He was the second running back to get a touch, with Chris Rodriguez starting while both Austin Ekeler and Jacory Croskey-Merritt rested. It looks like the decision for cutdown day will be whether or not to keep McNichols as the fourth running back, as Rodriguez mostly worked ahead of him this preseason and took 17 carries for 118 yards. McNichols finishes with nine carries for 24 yards, showing a glimpse of why he's mostly viewed as a passing-down back. If he ends up on Washington's roster or practice squad, any shot at fantasy value will probably depend on Ekeler missing time (which would open up the passing-down role).

  • Commanders' Jeremy McNichols: Takes four touches for 13 yards

McNichols took three carries for 10 yards and one catch for three yards in Monday's preseason loss to the Bengals. He was the third RB into the game for Washington for a second straight week behind Chris Rodriguez and Jacory Croskey-Merritt (while Brian Robinson and Austin Ekeler didn't play). There's nonetheless a chance McNichols makes the Week 1 roster, as he's familiar with Kliff Kingsbury's offense and will bump up a spot on the depth chart if the Robinson trade rumors come to fruition. It does seem Rodriguez and Croskey-Merritt are more likely to take over Robinson's role, but McNichols helped fill the gap when Robinson or Ekeler was out last year.

  • Commanders' Jeremy McNichols: Staying in Washington

McNichols agreed to a one-year deal with Washington on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. McNichols mostly served as the No. 3 running back for the Commanders in 2024 behind Brian Robinson and Austin Ekeler, and he'll likely do the same in 2025. McNichols finished the 2024 regular season with 55 carries for 261 yards and four touchdowns while adding nine catches (on 12 targets) for 27 yards and 164 kick return yards.

  • Commanders' Jeremy McNichols: Six touches in win

McNichols rushed twice for three yards and caught all four of his targets for 15 yards in Sunday's 36-33 win over the Eagles. McNichols' four targets, four catches and 15 receiving yards were all season highs in each category. The fourth-year running back played 19 of the Commanders' 68 offensive snaps, behind starter Brian Robinson (43) and ahead of Chris Rodriguez (7). Despite his uptick in usage in the passing game in Week 16, McNichols does not see enough consistent usage to be a viable fantasy option. The 28-year-old will look to contribute more on offense when the Commanders host the Falcons in Week 17.

  • Commanders' Jeremy McNichols: Minimal involvement against Saints

McNichols rushed twice for four yards and caught one of his two targets for zero yards in Sunday's 20-19 win over the Saints. McNichols played 22 of the Commanders' 78 offensive snaps Sunday, behind starter Brian Robinson (58) and well ahead of Chris Rodriguez (3). With Austin Ekeler (concussion) on injured reserve, the 28-year-old McNichols continues to operate as the team's primary backup out of the backfield, but his two rushes accounted for his lowest carry total since Week 8. The veteran running back will continue to see limited opportunities in Washington's offense as long as Robinson remains healthy. McNichols and the Commanders will host the Eagles in Week 16.
... See More ... See Less
  • Commanders' Jeremy McNichols: Elevated role likely against Titans

McNichols could be in line for a larger role Sunday against the Titans, as Austin Ekeler (concussion) won't play. Both Ekeler and Brian Robinson (ankle) exited during Washington's Week 12 loss to the Cowboys, but Robinson has been cleared to suit up Sunday against the Titans. McNichols figures to work in the change-of-pace role usually filled by Ekeler when Washington's backfield is at full strength, though Chris Rodriguez could also enter the backfield mix.

  • Commanders' Jeremy McNichols: Week 13 Adds (RB Preview)

If both Brian Robinson and Austin Ekeler miss Week 13, then Jeremy McNichols will be my favorite running back available off the waiver wire, despite an awful matchup against the Tennessee Titans. McNichols has averaged 4.9 yards per carry this season and scored four touchdowns on just 44 attempts. It's a small sample size, but his 18.2% avoid rate is actually better than Robinson or Ekeler. The key will be whether he gets work in the passing game, and as of now there isn't another back on the roster I see as more likely. McNichols earned 38 targets back in 2021 with the Titans, so he's not foreign to the role.

  • Commanders' Jeremy McNichols: Four carries in loss

McNichols carried the ball four times for seven yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 28-27 loss to the Steelers. McNichols operated as the No. 2 running back behind Austin Ekeler Sunday with Brian Robinson (hamstring) sidelined for the contest. Though he was limited to just four carries, the 28-year-old was able to find the end zone for the fourth time this season. Even if Robinson were to miss a third-straight game in Week 11, McNichols' limited usage makes him extremely difficult to trust for fantasy purposes in a matchup against Philadelphia.
